Toby had already started making pancakes and was planning to start the sausage soon when Maia appeared. Ah, much easier.
"Good morning!" Dari chimed. He was unusually happy, even for his generally good-mood demeanor. "Nah. Played a few games, did a little work. Did you see the new big UFO news? Someone in space photographed an arm of the space station with awful contrast and people said a light at the end was a UFO. Absolute silliness."
Toby snorted. "Silliness?"
"Not everyone need be so crass as you, Aikley."
"Ooohoho. Them's fightin' words."

"I didn't," Maia admitted. Toby had taken most of her attention. "Really?" she smirked. Aliens, of course Dari would have noticed that. She moved to hug him. "Its fascinating. Some people want to believe, but I don't suspect they'd be friendly if everyone knew an alien was among us."

"The people who believe believe too radically, and the people who don't are... wrong?" Dari laughed slightly, "It's the in-the-middle people I like best. 'I doubt we're all there is out there, but that is definitely ducks, not a UFO.'"
"There were no civilian reports when an actual UFO actually crashed, because there were no lights and flashy-flashy-spinny."
"Why would you want to come in like that, especially knowing what umanity is capable of?"
"Exactly. But of course if I 'came out' as extraterrestrial, I'd end up on a slab."
"And thus the FBPI was born."
"IBPI, technically."
"Whatever."

Maia shook her head at the boys, smiling and detaching from Dari in order to start on the sausage. "They really expect aliens to show up like they do in movies?" she asked in disbelief. "Playing music back and forth and all that?" The world would never discover aliens if that was the case.

"I guess," Toby said with a shrug, "In reality, it's no more brilliant than a shooting star. If someone lands with lights flashing I'd be willing to bet they mean business."
After breakfast, after getting dressed and brushing teeth, they were off to HQ again. Lori was already fairly up to speed with classes but had no expectation that Maia would want any today. He was excited to see her back, though. Did that mean Toby had come to terms with his own emotions?

As soon as they arrived at HQ, through Toby's favorite entrance, Maia hurried to research. She took a quick glance around for Seamus. "Seamus, here kitty," She called, looking for him. He was the person--cat? She looked forward to seeing most apart from Toby and Dari. "I brought you presents."

Prrt?
A little black head peeked out from behind the door frame of the copy center. Seamus' eyes grew wide and he stampeded toward Maia, trilling happily and weaving between her feet, pressing as close to her as he possibly could. He was purring like a motor boat, positively vibrating, and giving his usual happy communication trills. Yay, she came back!

"I'm home for good," Maia beamed, offering him a piece of meat. She bent down to pet him, hugging him. "I've missed you so much," She said. "And look I brought you something to look at night," She took something out from her bag and showed it to him.

The usual Seamus sounds were interrupted by the soft 'horf horf' of the sidhe enjoying the treat that was brought. He looked curiously at the bag as he chewed and blinked up at said thing. Hm. What was this?
Lori was at his office door, leaning on the frame and watching the reunion with a smile.

"I've missed you so much," Maia said, bending down to hug Seamus and stroke him. "Its a light. It'll make fish appear on the walls," She looked for an empty plug, and failing to spot one, added, "Where's Lori, huh? He could help you with this. Then you'll have something to look at at night. Do you think I'll have classes today?" she smiled at Seamus, scratching at his head.
"You should be nicer to Toby now. He got the message. He's sad you don't like him anymore."

Seamus put his paws on Maia's forearms and bonked his head against hers. Sure, something about fish, whatever. Maybe he'd start being nicer to the werewolf, since his selkie had come back.
"Hello." It was Lori from nearby and behind them, a hand lifted in greeting, "I didn't want to interrupt. I have a free plug in here if you'd like."

Maia smiled, giving Seamus another pet. "I love you," She said. She looked up and spotted Lori. She stood, moving to hug him. "Lori! I've missed you!" She pulled back and asked, "How've you been? Toby told me you're dating Luca now."

"Hey, Maia," Lori said, giving Maia a great big bear hug, "I missed you too! I've been pretty good. Yeah, yeah, we're dating. I heard you asked him about it, sneaky." He prodded Maia in the arm.

"Toby and I are dating too," Maia said, smiling at him. "Of course I asked. You two had conflicting ideas," she shook her head at him. "We should go on a double date sometime!"

"Really? That's fantastic! The idiot came to his senses, huh? Yeah! Yeah, we should. I've never been on one before." Purely by chance. He'd gone out with other couples before, sure, but never a legitimate two-on-two double-date.
