(actually that is what is called the gag reflex, but it's not the most effective way, because the person could end up inhaling at the same time and the liquid would go into the lungs and not stomach. The best way is to just pour it in and let the rest up to the body.)

Tokiko looked down at the floor as she heard cracking sounds. She moved back from where they were cracking.

Uncle took a few more steps back.
Superio gave a lurch as several big cracks suddenly appeared in the floor boards, then laid still, his breathing regular.
