Vasile gave Ambrose an apologetic look at Ian's comment, though his expression looked a bit more hopeful at that.

He sighed heavily and looked down at himsself, mouth forming a heavy frown as he ran his fingers through some of his fur. "I guess I can't really complain," he said not too convincingly, "after Cass...well.."

He felt abd for her, he really. In comparison, he knew he was lucky, but that didn't really make his change any less significant to him. He pulled his knees to him and slumped, looking very ... pityful.

"If I'm not a dog what I am? A fox?"

"Oh, that was Jamal," he answered Ian idly. "They let him out, finally. I couldn't believe they'd lock someone up in a cage..."

Zach frowned at Ambrose. "That's not right. If you care about her, they should let you see her. They're gaining nothing by making you wait and worry..."

Vasile did look sort of pretty, in an effeminate way, rather like Avery had appeared to be when Zach had seen him initially. "You could be a fox... but that's a pretty strange color for one."

Ian nodded agreement with Ambrose. "Not a dog, but I've never seen a fox that color either." He was still reeling over the fact that Vasile was 'pretty'

"Ambrose, be glad you aren't pretty. Men who are 'pretty' tend to be scary. Not to insult you are anything Vasile." Wow, Ian was just completely messing up everything he wanted to convey. "Sorry 'bout all of this. I can't seem to say what I want to correctly." He scratched his head where an antler had once been. "At least you don't have to regurgitate food, or lose antlers in the spring." Not that losing his antlers had been bad, but he knew that regrowing them would not be pleasant.

Ambrose lifted his eyebrows at the comment, not quite sure how to take that. He had always groomed himself for success and making a good impression. He wouldn't have considered himself 'pretty' per se, but perhaps handsome.

Ambrose looked at the big brush of a tail and the fur patterning. "I've been... ah... reading through a lot of books on wild canines... I think there are some foxes with that color pattern I've seen.... silver-phase foxes... or something like that." Ambrose commented, secretly harboring a small tinge of jealousy. While traumatic, Vasile did carry the changes well.

Ambrose looked to Zach. "They say I'd be in the way... she's unconscious... and wouldn't know I'm there... but I want to be there fore her anyway." THen the rest of what he said clicked. "And wait... What?! Jamal was in a cage?" He looked confused. "When? Why?"

Vasile gave a shocked, then annoyed look to Ian. "Scarey?!" He humped and slowly got up, wincing and grabbing at his lower back that ached from his tail growth. His balance was thrown off kilter for a moment, but a swing or two of his brush-like to and he managed to steady himself. Thankfully, his feet were still mostly human. "Anyway, Ambrose is pretty....uh, was at le-, er..." dammit, why had he even gone down that pathy, "oh ******** it... what's it matter. We all look like bloody beasts anyway."

He straightened himself out, brushing off his knees. "None of look like we outta... really. Pretty or not. Flowers of pretty. Birds are pretty. Even goddamn foxes might be pretty, if thats whatever the hell I am, but people don't..." he motioned with his hands. "you're not friends and lovers to feckin' flowers."

Zach blinked. Not so many people knew about it as he'd expected. He shrugged as he explained what he'd gathered about it. "Uh... Aubrey told Jamal that some 'lockout' here had been staged, so he tried to kill her. They stuck him in a cage for a while to humiliate him. I guess it was last week. That's all I know."

Zach looked uneasy at Vasile's words. He hadn't changed yet - he wasn't subject to the classification of beast. He felt sorry for the furry grey man, though. That transformation had certainly sounded painful.

Ian gaped. Someone had tried to kill Aubrey. He had only met the woman once, but she had seemed nice. And what did he mean by 'staged.'

"Staged? What do you mean?" Ian could guess, but he played the fool just to be sure.

"No offense meant to you Vasile, but you look very pretty, only girls should be pretty, men should be handsome, or rugged." Ian didn't think he qualified as any of those, but Vasile was pretty, almost feminine Ian noticed.

Ambrose's ears flattened to the side as he stood alongside Vasile, ready to offer a steadying arm if he needed it. Ambrose was all too familiar with how painful and sore you could feel afterwards.

"I don't think we're beasts..." Ambrose muttered, scratching his arm self-consciously.

Then Zach proceeded to almost blow that out of the water. "KILL her?!" Ambrose repeated, flabberghasted. He knew Jamal had a temper - he had seen that first hand. And even Ambrose himself had been upset by finding out that the lockout had been... intentional. But from what little he talked with Aubrey, he found it difficult to stay mad at her. She seemed to be the sum of the conscience of the entire lab staff, and it would only make things worse for them to upset her.

"And men can be attractive without being 'rugged'" Ambrose rebuffed Ian. "Well groomed, taken care of... still handsome, yes. But you don't have to be 'rugged'." He glanced down to how furry he was. "Although I suppose with as much hair as I now posses...." His ear flicked backwards.

Maybe the light talk would help Vasile cope...

Vasile just kept quiet, listening to everyone...his new ears swiveling around, adjusting to a new way to hear sound.

He reached up and touched his sesntive wet nose, jaw hanging open slightly. my god what did they do to me?

"Not beasts?" he scoffed. "If you say so."

"And who's Aubrey?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 27, 2006 5:37 pm

Zach looked down. In all honesty, he agreed with Jamal's actions. He'd met Aubrey himself, and she hadn't been a ray of sunshine.

"Well, he said they locked everyone out of their duplexes, on purpose. But... I don't even know what he was talking about. I guess you would know?"

Zach jumped back when Ambrose yelled. He'd stopped feeling so apathetic around changed islanders since he'd met Billy. "Y-yeah... choked her. She's wearing a scarf lately. At least, I saw her wearing one when I met her."

"You guys aren't beasts. You're people," he murmured. It didn't sound very convincing, coming from him.

"Oh" Ian was at a loss for words as he listened to Ambroses views on handsome and rugged. He was seriously messing up everything he was trying to say. "Just ignore me."he mumbled. "I don't know what I am talking about."

But Vasile's silver hair was nice. No, no no! He is a guy! A guy! Ian was completely straight, but Vasile looked feminine enough to mess with Ian's head a bit. He frowned and looked at the ground, avoiding looking at the man.

"Yeah, furry." He wondered how Emerwyn was doing and if she had become more like a deer than the last time he saw her. And if Emelyn was still in the wild. How was she doing as well? And why was he thinking about two women, and a guy of all things. This could be bad.

"Aubrey was nice when I met her." Ian said to keep his mind off of attractive people. "She was so nice. I can't see her locking someone in a cage even if he tried to kill her."

"From what I've seen of Aubrey... one of the staffmembers, Vasile, but the only one I've seen with any kind of conscience... she's been the only one to stand up for us. If Jamal had to lose his temper and attack one of the staff, why'd he have to attack her? She.... while any of the staff have their priorities in the wrong place to be here, she at least is trying to do what she can to make things comfortable as possible for us." his ears pressed back. He didn't want to sound like he liked it here. That was far from the truth. But if they wanted to do anything about that, then attacking Aubrey of all people wasn't the way to go about it. And... besides... where else were they to go now? Even Vasile saw them as beasts... and Ambrose had his doubts that Zach firmly believed that they weren't coming from the vantage of someone still human.

"Jamal... Jamal seems to have leaped off the deep end of all of this from what little I know of the man. I've hardly seen him recently, but from the trail of injuries he's left on friends and enemies alike - and just those I've heard of, perhaps that's a good thing. Last time I saw the man he was tearing into a steak that was just about raw with his hands and claws and fangs... spouting some idiocy about the 'law of the jungle' or something like that." Ambrose shook his head with a hypocritical growl.

"We may look like beasts... but so help me I'm not going to act like one... at least not when it comes to the important things." He looked to Ian significantly. "No matter how hungry I get, I swear to God I wouldn't try to attack one of you."

Ambrose just hoped he was right. There was at least one transformation pending for him... and he had almost attacked some of the prey species of the island. What if they got much worse?

Vasile eyed the deer man with a strange expression on this face. His eyes narrowed and looked him over, dropping from his head to his feet, then back. "You're closer to being 'pretty' than 'handsome'" he said, then turned his attention back to Ambrose.

"Someone tried to off a staff member?" His ear flicked back. "Something tells me that... well, we'll end up paying for that in the end. I mean, viva la revolution and all, but just random assualts?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 27, 2006 6:23 pm

He grimaced and looked at Ian. "She isn't that nice... I made a crack about her and housekeeping, and she threatened to mess with whatever animal I'm supposed to... to become. Not very comforting."

He glanced at Ambrose, but kept to himself his opinions of the black man. He'd stood up for the right causes so far, which gave Zach no reason to doubt the guy. But all this about attacking people... he had yet to see something like that happen. For all he knew, it could just be rumors. Though, when one considered people like Billy...

"Oh!" All the talk of staff reminded Zach of Lily, the greenish woman who'd been exposed the other day as working for the doctors. He addressed the group with a question. "Do any of you know a woman named Lily?"

Ian had always told himself that Ambrose wouldn't eat him, but hearing him actually say it made Ian's ears perk up. "Thanks Ambrose." but then hearing Vasile say he was closer to pretty made him jerk in surprise.

"M-me pretty?" He hadn't really looked in a mirror much, not since he had been fully human. But if he was in fact pretty he shouldn't have been commenting to Vasile. "I'm sorry Vasile. Maybe being pretty isn't so bad." Ian didn't want to be insulting himself as well.

"Attacking people won't help us off the island. It'll just make them take away what freedom we do have." Ian was thinking logically."Don't bite the hand that feeds you" He quoted the old proverb and nodded.

"I know Lily, she seemed really nice. Or I met her. . .once."
