For something like that though you'd need to have a cut-off date for showing up to round 1.

Vintrict Also, there may be no shows to the first round, so even if the preliminary rounds aren't... Naaah, I'll just stick to the first come first serve. Most likely most of the waiting list will be able to get in due to a few people not showing up as of yet, though a PM may fix that. THIS. This is good.
Since we've had such a long time for profiles, some people's schedules might have changed, or unforseen circumstances might prevent them from competing immediately. Having backups would definitely be a safe bet.

I give people 5 days to show up. The round usually lasts for 10 days, so if they haven't shown up, I replace them.

As I said, a perfect 64 to show up isn't always something that happens. Not to mention, 3 spots are going to be open outright due to a few pending entries not replying to my reviews of their profiles.

Though nothing stops you from, say, finding your fellow back-up members and beating them into submission for their spot...
Well, I don't know if you can do it for the spot, but you can at least beat them into submission.

Anyone that dies during the Ball won't be able to attend.
That's a freed up spot right there.

But I'm alternate #1. [edit] There was almost shitgodown at the ball. But it's specifically stated in the first post that shitgodown is allowed at the ball. HURR HURR. Beat someone up and take their spot. Should totally be allowed to take someone's tournament spot if you beat them.

GTB security consists of NPC fighters in suits. You might see a few of them wielding swords or hammers on their backs. Aside from that, the only other security is Midus's personal bodyguards and the fighters themselves. The peace is being held simply by the atmosphere.
