"Me either," Maia admitted, pulling her hand bag in from the hall and changing into her nightgown. She climbed into bed and smiled at him. "I was so excited to see you I stayed up packing."
"I'm really happy to be home."

Toby smiled broadly and climbed into bed himself, finding it a little... awkward. He wasn't sure why, but he was just a little bit shy. Against his instincts, he reached out his arms to Maia.
"I'm happy you're back."

Maia scooted into Toby's arms, snuggling. "I'm not leaving again," she informed him. "It was awful. Grey and dreary and none of my friends." She snuggled up to him. And no Toby. That'd been the worst part. She pressed her ear to his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
"Goodnight Toby."

It seemed somehow less awkward when Maia spoke so candidly and sidled up to him. A small smile creased Toby's face and he gently touched Maia's cheek with the back of his hand. She was warm and she was solid, and she was his. He was hers. Even if just for a little while, they head each other. He craned his neck to kiss her head and his hand moved to her back.
"Good night, Maia." His voice was soft. God, this was love.

Toby's alarm went off, but Maia still didn't move. She was comfortable in the blanket and Toby's warmth; she opened an eye and made a noise of protest. Stupid clock. Did she really want to get out of bed? She moved closer to Toby and attempted to ignore the alarm.
"Mrrr. Toby, turn it off," She complained.

Toby was always unhappy with his alarm. He gave a soft hum of displeasure when it went off and opened sleepy eyes. Stupid thing. Stupid work. Well, he probably shouldn't have been complaining. He'd gotten a day off, after all. When Maia pulled closer he kissed her head and sighed. Bah. Mornings. He'd have to get back into the swing of them. Undoubtedly Maia would be back to her normal schedule in no time. He smiled thinking of it.
"Mm-mm," he said, "We gotta get up." He rubbed an eye and tried to blink away the sleep. "Don't you wanna see Seamus?" When in doubt, use the cat.

Maia sighed, reluctantly pulling away from Toby. "I suppose so," She said. But she could see Seamus any time. This was her first morning with Toby. Well, not really. She'd had quite a few wake ups next to him; but this one was different.
She leaned over and kissed him. "Good morning," She said, pulling away to rub at her eyes. Bleh. Why couldn't work start at a decent hour? Maybe past noon?

Oh, a good morning kiss. How long had it been? Toby might have cried were he not so tired. He returned the kiss and sat up with a stretched, then turned to look down at a sleepy, disheveled Maia. He smiled again and scooped her up out of bed, keeping her close to his bare chest.

"Ready for breakfast?" Maia asked, as she pressed against Toby's chest. She loved listening to his heart, it was a reminder that he was really there. That this wasn't a dream.

"Mm-hm," Toby said. "What do you feel like?" They had pretty much anything Maia could want. Their last shopping trip had been intense.
"Good morning!" Dari called happily from the living room.
"Mornin'!" Toby called back.

"Pancakes?" Maia suggested. "And sausage? Oh, I've got something for Seamus." She dug into her bag and pulled out a night light. "It projects fish onto the ceiling," She said. "I saw it at one of the gift shops." She muffled a yawn with her hand. "Do you want the shower first?"
"Good morning Dari!"

"Aww, cute," Toby said with a smile. Seamus liked presents. Generally anything that brought him positive attention was a good thing. Besides, it had to get kind of lonely there during skeleton shifts.
Of course, when Maia spoke, Toby didn't hear "do you want the shower first," oh no, he heard "do you want to shower first," as in the both of them together. His cheeks turned pink. "Um."

Maia wasn't sure why Toby's cheeks went pink but she quickly took advantage of whatever was distracting him. "I shower first then!" she declared, kissing both of his cheeks and heading into the hall to dig in her bags for an outfit.

Oh! Oh, okay! He laughed when she kissed his cheeks and nodded.
"Alright, I'll get started on breakfast." He had showered last night after dinner and didn't figure he needed one today, right? Or was that gross?
Dari appeared and approached him.
"How are you feeling?" the alien asked.
Toby shook his head, smiling as they entered the kitchen. "It's amazing, Dari. It really is. Thank you." He took the alien's head in his hands and kissed his bald head, which only made the alien grin more broadly.
"Good. I was hoping all of this would end like this. I figured that if you wouldn't come into yourself, at least you and Maia could find peace in living apart." Come to find out that was the least likely thing to happen.
"Thanks again, man. It was a big wake-up call."
Dari's chest puffed out with pride. He had done a good thing and he knew it! Now both of his friends were happy.

Maia showered, dried her hair, combed the sleep tangles out of it, and took a moment to study her appearance. She hadn't particularly cared what she looked like while in Oregon, except when going out or talking to Dari. She chose an outfit, stretched, and exited the bathroom.
This sleeping in thing, it was kind of nice.
"I'll start the sausage," Maia offered, as she entered the kitchen. She spotted Dari and flashed the alien a smile. "Good morning," she greeted him. "What were you up to last night? Getting into trouble?"
