Bright as a flash, like a silver stream running down the mountain. And so, they called him Silverrun.

She had a taste for fish, but also one for danger -- her favorite thing to do was haul in the big, slick, struggling blackfish from the surf, jaws clamped into its flesh. Time after time she did this, until one day she returned with a fish and earned its name.

A too small foal underhoof next to a river and the next thing you know, the poor thing ends up in the water, getting pulled downstream by the white rapids.
Some don’t even notice at first, there are plenty of kin after all and the foal’s voice is not loud enough, but a Totoma sees and hears and reacts. She is already running towards the water by the time others realize what has happened. She leaps into the rushing water without a second thought, using her strong legs to propel her towards the foal racing downstream despite the pull of the water against her thick fur.
When she pulls the small thing to shore, the others gather around her. The foal’s mother thanks her profusely before taking the little foal away to dry off. Her name is murmured in respect by an older totoma when he says approvingly to another, “Look how fearlessly and quickly she battled the white rush.”
