I used to have a pair of average-sized cats. They were named Socks (for her white paws) (She got hit by a truck) and Shadow (She ran away when we moved about four years ago).

I'm very lucky, none of my cats have disappeared for more than a week, and none have gotten hit or run over.
We had a cat from before I was born until I was in 5th grade. She was 18 when she kicked it and I still miss her, Milly was a sweetie (albeit a geriatric one)

Well the difference between geriatric cats and geriatric humans is you can still enjoy cuddling an old cat.
