i got a rapid insertion force box for christmas and just tried it out for the first time, 9 crisis suits geared with mostly plasma rifles and fusion blasters really put the hurt out on a couple of baneblades that everyone is so proud of

Broadsides are a very good choice, the railguns are the back bone to the Tau army. I would aslo suggeat have two Hammerheads one with submunition and the other with solid shot so that way you can take down eenemy tanks and very easily the troops.

Yeah I based My entire army around intensive fire. Four Squads disembarking from a devilfish and a full six man stealth team will take out space marines faster than most things. You can also run the twin hammers like Barnabas says. I did that recently in a two v one game. Black Temps and IG vs me. I lost, but wiped out half the IG troops in four turns and all of the SM troops and heavies. DAMN THOSE LEMAN RUSS. Still for my measly two squads and a few things it went fairly well. the SM skimmer vanished as it deep striked and the LR Crusader was holed on the first turn. What killed me was the termies and Russes.

I actually prefer to field one Ionhead and one Railhead with my Broadsides. After all, you can use the Broadsides to provide solid shot for tank hunting, and the Ion Cannon is loads cheaper than the Railgun.

I tried that last night. I had two Hammerheads. One Ion the other running Solid rail. I had to proxy in some broadsides, but it was pretty effective. But I am thinking that next time I will get broadsides and use two rails running subs. I usually play with an IG person. Lots and lots of Softies to smear with smart munitions.

He is about to get the Apoc rules and then I will be able to roll in my full suit army. No Vehicles in i at all. That is Why I love Tau.

I don't understand why people keep refering to sub rail and solid rail. It's like a missile launcher, you fire frag or krak based on targets of opportunity.

Wait I thought you could only run one ammo type per battle. If you can choose per shot then I have just defeated the IG in about a minute. Wipe out all softies then stay back and rain a continuous amount of fire onto the tanks. Hold all my FW back to guard against SM and keep The Shas'o in the back with Cycllic Ion. Then Hop around with a twelve inch move per turn with fusions and plasmas, Two squads. That's only if what you say is true.

Tojju Dubyamn Yahiko_Meoshine Dubyamn DarkElf27 is it true that their basic rifles have strenth 5? Yeah they can convibably take down a wraithlord with their basic guns. Kinda scary really. Definetely. Tau hurts... Oh yeah one of the only armies who I don't think I can get into a ranged battle with. So that leaves my guardsmen one option a good old banzai charge. Haven't played them yet though unfortunatly. *Laughs.* Don't ever charge Tau...They might not have any power weapons but their Kruet (It's spelled something like that.) Can hold you off long enough for all of their guns to be pointed at you and by the time the Kreut are gone, your gone too...All those guns just hurt like hell. Also they can target your tanks with their troops to fire off a Range N/A (Unlimited distance, all they have to do is mark where they want to hit with their Fire Warriors squad.),Strength 9, AP2 missle shot that is a small blast template. It's one of Tau's REALLY annoying feautues. The only way I've been able to have a chance with them is take a squad of Striking Scorpions from Eldar and Deep Strike but I messed up my scatter role and ended up right next to the cursed Kreut....Damn you Kreut... also dont forget, in apocalypse u can take a manta. i am lucky to own 2.

horseofdeath also dont forget, in apocalypse u can take a manta. i am lucky to own 2. Did you sell your car to pay for those, or do you just have gobs of spare cash? The Manta's so expensive that most balk at buying one, much less two.
