(((Le oops. I changes it. so sorry. sweatdrop )))
Grimm glided backa bit as the trainer went for his back.

Myuko finally got to the corner as he heard the sound of voices. Well, they dont sound terrified. he thought as he figured Grimm hadnt gone by there. Myuko turned the corner to see the two trainers and the pokemon among them.

"Um, Hi." Myuko said as he slowly walked around the corner. He immediately noticed Grimm, who had began to float towards him, passing Jaeson's shoulder.

Like his brother, the twin recalled his Wooper before it could fall, albeit his timing had been poor; the attack and the recall, crimson beam had hit the Wooper simultaneously. He juggled the Pokeball for a second, feeling the strange heat from the usually cool metal before it disappeared mere seconds later. A deep frown set into his face; they just got a can of butt-whoopin' opened on them, and he sure didn't like that feeling.

M.A., a tad surprised at how quickly it had ended, recalled Ulani before her temper set her after the twins instead of her vanished opponent. "That. . . that was a good battle," she said at last. She made to walk over, but then remembered the sleeping Totodile behind her; making a brief detour to pick up the snoring Pokemon, she eventually made her way to the twin, somehow extending a waiting hand and a smile as she held the Totodile. No matter what had happened during the battle, she wouldn't forget this courtesy -- it was like acknowledging each other's skills, Michael had once said. Although to be honest, she wasn't exactly certain what they were doing with the Totodile yet. At the very least they would give its trainer some good talking to about its condition.

The other brother glared at her as if she were some alien, but then remembered Ky and nervously looked between him and his brother. Without his previous, crude cockiness, he seemed lost and uncertain. Finally, an even deeper frown. "Yeah, yeah, you beat us," he said darkly, not sounding at all very happy. The boy casted his glance to his left, as if there was something on his shoulder worth noting.

Ky wasn't in much of a mood to be polite after the battle. Seeing M.A. pick up the Totodile only renewed the anger that had sent him wild minutes ago, and it wasn't surprising to see Ky give the same heated glare to both of the twins.

The younger brother walked up to M.A. and looked up without words, expecting to have his Pokemon returned. Catching Ky's glare though, he couldn't help but speak up. "You don't know what it's like," he said bravely as he returned the glare. "You don't know what it's like to have to raise something so weak." To Ky's surprise, the twin's eyes started to fill with tears. "I tried so hard to make it strong, I really have! Do you think I did that to his eye?!" he asked as his anger made his voice louder.

Ky squinted a bit, taken aback from the question.

"What am I supposed to do, huh?! I can't let him out in the wild; he'd be killed for sure! I've been raising him since he was a baby, but he won't fight; he doesn't want to fight..." It wasn't long before the kid started to choke on his words, tears now falling down his face.

The Totodile in M.A.'s arms soon woke up from its trainer's voice. Noticing this, the twin turned to his Totodile. Immediately, the little crocodile began to squirm. "Why? Why can't you just fight?!" the twin scolded loudly. Memories of his father started to flood his thoughts; memories of his brother always sticking up for him, and getting punished much more because of it. He had been just like this Totodile: too scared, too scared to fight.

Sickened by his own weakness, the boy couldn't speak any more. There was no way these two could understand what they've been through. He just wanted his Pokemon back. With his arms, he motioned for M.A. to return what was his.

And that's when the Totodile ran. Fearing the return to its trainer, it jumped as soon as it figured out what was going on. After stumbling a bit when it hit the ground, it sprinted as fast as its small legs could carry it, heading off in some random direction.

"Return!" the boy called out in a panic, his Pokeball held up in front of him. To his horror, the beam missed. "Return!!" he then screamed again, panic overtaking him. Again, the beam missed.

Ky felt the urge to help out, but something cynical was keeping him from doing so, keeping him just standing there, a grin forming on his face...

The slightly older brother (let's say Neil; if another name had been assigned to the fellow, forgive me) had either somehow detected or caught the anguish his sibling was feeling even before he spoke his first word, for he had torn his gaze from the span between his shoulder, Mary-Anne, and Ky and now focused only on his brother. As Ray's dams flooded tears, Neil stealthily sickled up to his brother, oblivious to Ky's inferno-glare, oblivious to the Totodile, oblivious to Mary-Anne's surprise and dismay, only soaking in his brother's words, his brother's pain. It'd been a while since he'd seen Ray break like this; he'd always been frustrated, but he hadn't broke down with this intensity of anger and desperation for a very, very long time. And all he could think of doing was standing there and giving at least one presence that was supporting him; he didn't know what else to do, he was never very good with the soothing and those other "feminine" methods. At one point, he subconsciously put a hand on Ray's shoulder when the other boy's voice had cracked, but had withdrawn it just as abruptly when he quieted. However, when he saw that the Totodile had ran off and Ray had become increasingly desperate and less accurate with his Pokeball, Neil had been the first one to run after the Pokemon. A logical move, maybe, but if the boy had really thought about it more, he would have realized that his thrashing through the woods only scared the Totodile more. Despite the Totodile's small legs, it was far less clumsy in its panic then Neil was.

Mary-Anne's eyes had widened when the Pokemon had sprinted off. At first, she remained frozen in her spot; then she remembered what its owner had said, how it couldn't survive in the wild. With that, she began to follow them as well, only stopping a step afterwards to give a question glance at Ky. Why. . . Why of all things was he smiling now? "What's so funny?" she frowned, feeling a rush of confusion, foreboding, and impatience. "That Totodile could get in major trouble and you're just standing there?" With that, she sprang in the direction of Neil and Totodile (Neil had trampled out a nice little trail for them), utilizing far more quiet grace than the older twin; she might have been bigger, but by nature her lanky body seemed to be able to maneuver through the foliage as if she had been born a huntress.

As Keiichi watched this heated battle, he carefully sketched some of the attacks of the Pokemon as well as how the corresponding defending pokemon reacted to them in order to learn more about battle strategies. "A huge amount of water pouring down on a ground type pokemon, now how would the defending cubone react to this tough situation", thought Keiichi. Taking note of this circumstance, he started thinking about how his own pokemon, grimer, would react to that tremendous and overwhelming attack.
Picturing it in his mind, he thought about the letting his grimer enlarge its body size to fully absorb the attack, letting it all sink into its muddy body. Since its body is made of thick mud, taking in water shouldn't be much of a problem for grimer.
The intense aerial battle also intrigued Keiichi. Although he had seen many flying Pokemon coming and leaving Cinnabar Island for delivery purposes, he's never seen a combination of Poison/Flying type Crobat. Astonished by its extreme velocity, Keiichi quickly took note of that and started thinking about counter strategies...

The large wave was closing in fast on the small Cubone. There wasn't much he could do to stop that large of an attack but Dylan had planned for such opponents with his last trick move. "Surfs up Skellington!" Living on an island did have advantages for training against Cubone's weaknesses. The lonely pokemon nodded as it quickly used an Ice Beam to make a board to stand on as the wave came cascading at it. Sliding above most of the water on the board, Skellington was able to avoid a major amount of damage from the perilous waves.

"Water like that won't work on us." Dylan said with a thumbs up to his pokemon. Now that the water had died down a bit it was time to strike back, however pathetically the attack would be in this case. Skellington smashed his board accross the the ground at his duck opponent. Hopefully it wouldn't be good at mud boarding.

((Sorry if it was a bit extreme, but at least it was cool. I'll keep it a little more realistic from here on out.))

((Yeah... definitely a little extreme... try to keep it in check, eh?))
Jaeshan turned to see another new face emerging from the woods, only to have a strange Ghost-like Pokemon float past his shoulder. He froze, feeling the same chills he had before, but almost immediately he realized the Duskull was with the boy. "H-hello," he said a bit shakily, looking back to the girl and her Zigzagoon.

Torchic watched the Ghost-type not with fear, but with intrigue - this Pokemon didn't have any wings, but it was flying! The amazed little Pokemon continued to watch the Duskull from her position on the ground, while Butterfree remained quietly perched on the log next to her trainer.

Jaeshan looked at the teal-haired girl again, wondering if perhaps she'd want to battle. The last few days had been quiet, and he also was thinking that Butterfree could get some training in after resting for a few days to let her wing heal. He wasn't quite sure how to ask, so instead of saying anything, he just stared at his shoes and hoped he wasn't turning red in the face.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 01, 2007 5:27 pm

The girl chuckled a bit, now knowing that the Duskull didn't belong to the blonde-haired boy, but to the one wearing the purple outfit. "Hello," she said merrily, waving at them both. "Nice day for a walk in the woods, isn't it?" Cinnamon wriggled in her arms for a moment or two before hopping down, intent on sniffing at the little Torchic a bit more.

Seemingly reading Jaeshan's mind, she smiled as she looked at him. "Say, you wouldn't want to have a battle with me, would you? 3 on 3, just for kicks and giggles really? By the way, my name's Gwen, nice to meet you!" Glancing over at Myuko, she continued to smile. "No hard feelings, but when I saw this fella here, I just figured he was lookin' for a battle." Her tone was cheery and delightful, as though nothing could dampen her good mood. "Feel free to watch though; I always fight better when we've got spectators."

She flipped her two long braids behind her back, and placed a hand on her hip. "So whatcha say, tall guy?" she giggled, looking up at Jaeshan.

Myuko heard the chatter about a battle and a sparkle went into his eyes as Duskull came back to his side. "I would love to watch." Myuko said sitting down on the ground. He was still a bit away from them but with good distance to observe.

"I am Myuko, by the way." he said. He couldnt remember if he told them his name or not but the tenseness that called for the battle scrambled his thoughts.

... while Ian on the other hand simply stared in awe. "Forget the fact that these guys are 2-4; they know what they're doing!" he thought excitedly. Taking some time away from the action, he stole a glance at Keiichi's drawing pad. Of course, he could tell that they were sketches of the battle they were watching, but it really was neat to see how quickly Keiichi could draw. Because of the speed, it was lacking in some detail, but what struck him the most was how he always caught the scenes at the exact moment of a counter. The Psyduck evolving, the Farfetch'd prying its opponents' mouth away, the Cubone using a surfboard to avoid the...

"Wait, what?" Ian said out loud, turning his head around just in time to see the ice-riding Cubone in action. "No way..." he said in a soft whisper. Even after the Surf attack ended, Ian found his jaw to be fixed in the gaping position. "That was... that was amazing. Dude, K1. You gotta work on that drawing; I've never seen anything like that," he said, poking at the picture in Keiichi's notepad. He knew Keiichi would find it irritating, but he was very serious towards having that drawing finished. "No wonder these guys are popular," he thought.

Again, Ky snapped back to reality. Why was he smiling? He knew why. He had thought the kid deserved it, that the kid aught to have seen it coming. But really, why was he just standing there? Without the time to feel guilty, Ky began to rush after M.A., only to stop and notice that Ray wasn't following.

Ray looked to be in a serious state of shock and was on his knees, staring blankly as his brother gave chase with the girl. He couldn't believe it; his Pokemon actually left, it actually had the courage to leave...

Thinking quickly not to leave Ray behind, Ky gave Little Guy an order. "Little Guy, Teleport up to M.A. and help them catch the Totodile. I'm going to stay behind," he explained.

After a quick nod, Little Guy disappeared, reappearing in a glide right next to M.A. as she ran. Peering ahead, he could see the Totodile, though barely. At this rate, it would get away, even at M.A.'s pace. Finding it difficult to glide at a reasonable pace himself, he perched on M.A.'s shoulder to give himself some time to rest before he'd let off another Teleport to catch up. This was something he wasn't very used to, but he could understand that they would need him to get the Totodile back.

Meanwhile, Ky walked up to Ray in an awkward silence. "Hey, I didn't mean to..."

"Go away!!" Ray yelled, his blank look replaced by one of pure hatred. "What the hell do you know?!" And with that, he landed a quick, sharp low kick to Ky's shin, stepping back afterwards, anticipating a fight.

Ky could only hop on one leg for a while, clutching his leg and gritting his teeth while he waited for the pain to fade. His anger returned, but he kept it in check at the same time. Fighting wasn't going to make this better, but he didn't really know what else would.

Mary-Anne had been moderately surprised when Little Guy popped up out of nowhere, although she didn't let her pace fall too much. From the lack of more thrashing, she could tell that Ky wasn't following them, and neither was Ray -- well, she had to trust whatever he was doing, and he'd sent Little Guy with her in any case.

Her near-perfect eyesight could catch the little blue Totodile in the dim distance, but with every moment, ever duck and maneuver she had to make, she could see that the Pokemon was losing them with ease. With the four of them going off the beaten path and what not, the forest was growing thicker and thicker. . . They could no longer run brashly through, and now instead weaved quickly after the Totodile, although the Pokemon was quite clever in choosing paths that the humans could not pass through. The result was Mary-Anne losing precious ground trying to find clearances in the foliage. Neil, having ran out of stamina, began to lag behind, but even so he began to catch up as M.A. slowed down.

What to do, what to do? Who knew what kind of Pokemon there were in the deep forest? Ky had mentioned something about Ghosts. . . What if they attacked? A shiver ran down her spine, but she shook the chill off when she remembered that it'd be far worse for the Totodile if he was attacked, as weak as it might be.

Eventually, they came upon a wide expanse of brush that was uniformly high about them, reaching to about M.A.'s upper thigh; Neil could hardly wade through it while Mary-Anne awkwardly walked through it when high kicking steps. The girl clicked her tongue and hissed a bit for lack of an ingenious idea to catch up to the Totodile (invisible to them by now). If Michael was here, he'd know what to do. She had always been the less inventive one. . .

"Little Guy, it's up to you and Ulani. Please catch up to that Totodile and keep him safe! We'll try to catch up as soon as possible, maybe around all this thicket."

Ulani soon made her appearance, fluttering with more solemnity than usual -- perhaps she was tired, or perhaps she could feel the severity in the atmosphere and situation. The young Swablu looked to Little Guy and then to the darkness of the forest before them. 'By your lead,' she chirped quietly, looking somewhat nervous for a change.

Though Alpha could hear the Crobat's trainer's command, he could not react quick enough. The Wing Attack hit his wing into such a painfully arched position, that the pain numbed his grasp of the sprig, causing it to fall like a vegetable to the ground. The Farfetch'd was quick to recover in the air from the hit, but as soon as he felt the awkward absence of his weapon, a panic took him over like nothing before.

Looking down, he saw his 'sword,' lifeless on its way down to the battlefield. Not losing hope, the duck dove to retrieve it, tucking his wings in for maximum velocity. Because of the sprig's air resistance, the distance between them fell rapidly. Three yards... three feet... three inches... CRASH!

Having been so desperate to retrieve his 'sword,' the Farfetch'd had ignored his surroundings: the red-head's command, Anthony's shriek of warning, and finally, the wave.

"Alpha!" Anthony called again in vain. Watching the events unfold, he could only stare as his Pokemon was overtaken by the water, led to smash into the ground below. He had been watching the Cubone's miraculous feat too intently, and because of it, he had failed to warn his companion.

The wave soon disappeared, showing a drenched duck on his side, back facing his trainer. Though Anthony's instinct drove him to recall his fallen comrade, a stronger guidance led him to run up instead. With ultimate concern, he rolled his Pokemon over, looking the Farfetch'd over carefully. His heart raced painfully. Alpha wasn't breathing.

"Hang on!" Anthony called as he turned Alpha onto his back. Following proper procedure, he lined his hands over the duck's chest and shoved.

Water gurgled out from the sides of Alpha's beak, but his condition didn't improve. Something else was blocking the airway, not just water. Anthony shoved again, same affect. Shoved again, more water. This wasn't happening. There was no way.

"Hang ON!" he yelled, slamming both his hands hard into the Pokemon's belly. It was just hard enough.

"Kfwaaaaar!" the Pokemon expelled, water shooting out of his beak like a geyser. Having not expected this, Anthony fell to the side, both surprised and overjoyed. That had been a close one, and he wasn't sure why. There was something blocking Alpha's windpipe, and it wasn't just the wat... THUNK! Straight from the air, Alpha's 'sword' landed square onto Anthony's head, where it then tilted to fall into his lap. "OW!" he then yelled, throwing the leek at Alpha. "Watch where you cough that up, ya dimwit!" he scolded as he held his head where a bump formed.

Alpha simply stood in a daze for a while. He wasn't sure where he was, nor what he was doing, until his trainer spoke up. "Don't just stand there! Use... Sand Attack. His precision will be the end of us!" he commanded, as if regaining his authority.

The Farfetch'd waddled over to snatch back his weapon, this time holding it so tight his feathers should have turned white. He wasn't out yet. Sure, that wave had knocked a good amount out of him, but he wasn't going to let one mistake let this bat off easy.

"Sand Attack huh?" Alpha thought with a sigh as he looked at the muddy ground, then up at his opponent. "Well, better make do with what I've got." And with that, he shoved his sword into the ground like a pole vault, launching himself straight at the Crobat. With the onion sprig held back like a sword, he waited until the range was perfect and then flung the sprig forward, launching a good amount of goop towards the Crobat's face.

Kasiya gasped at the sight of the Farfetch'd disappearing beneath the water, knowing exactly what was going through Anthony's mind at that very moment. Only last night had she witnessed a very similar situation with Seto, after he'd fallen asleep and then been targeted by Regal's Surf attack. Seeing Anthony's quick response to the situation was relieving, and she realized that she'd inadvertently taken a few steps towards the duo. As the Farfetch'd coughed up copious amounts of water, as well as the soggy leek sword, she smiled; glad to know the duck Pokemon would be all right.

Fang watched carefully from above, taking in every detail as his wings silently treaded the air. He was glad his fellow flier would be all right, and as the human gave the command for a Sand-Attack, he flashed a toothy grin, preparing himself for the oncoming attack. He watched, and waited, and as the mucky goo was flung towards him, he held his two larger wings out in front of him like a shield, closing his eyes tightly as the muck splattered against them, causing a dark, turbid rain to fall down onto the battlefield. His wings were now coated in the clingy, cold goop, and it would most likely cost him in the speed department (at least until the hot island sun dried the mud) but at least his vision was still in tact.

"Confuse Ray!" Kasiya called out sharply, impressed that Fang had actually thought to defend himself from the makeshift Mud-Slap without instruction. He really had learned something from the duel with Koga's Crobat, a thought that made her quite proud of her Pokemon. Kasiya had an arm raised to shield her eyes from the muddy rainfall, not enjoying the feeling of it coming down onto her head and shoulders. Fang spread his wings out once more, a frightful, yellow glow emanating from his eyes. The brown mud dripping from his wings added to his sinister appearance, and he bared his fangs in order to add as much as he could to the astounding glower he was shooting at the Farfetch'd.

((I actually forgot what colour I write in for a second there.... xd ))
Keegan paid practically no attention to the struggle on the other half of the battlefield, as he and Althena were both too busy with the Cubone to be able to offer any assistance to anyone. The Cubone launched its 'surfboard' at Althena next, and the Golduck was quick to react. Having just watched the little ground type surfing through her powerful water attack, she'd been given ample time to prepare for what might come next. Her arms were still tingly and unresponsive due to their minor paralysis, and she jumped up, kicking the icy board as it flew towards her. Ice shards and mud seemed to fly from all directions, and Keegan groaned as he felt mud and water landing on his head. He stole a glance upward, but only in time to have more muck fall down onto his face, and he swore quietly and wiped his face with the back of his hand, dark streaks now stretching across his cheeks and chin.

There's no way that little guy can keep standing up to constant super-effective attacks, the redhead thought to himself, looking to Althena. The Golduck looked a bit weary, but he assumed that it was mostly due to her evolution. He recalled that when both Themis and Loki had evolved, they'd been sapped of their strength, and put them at a major disadvantage in their respective battles. If she can just defeat the Cubone... he thought hopefully, thrusting his hand out towards the small, skull-clad warrior. "Show them a real Ice Beam!" he commanded.

Althena swiftly lurched forward and opened her beak, a frosty, icy ray shooting forward like a laser at her smaller opponent. That's the way, Keegan thought, already aware of the significant increase of power in all of Althena's attacks as of yet.
