((2 choice, shooty or diversity.

The tau are by far one of the best shooting armies in the game, they will decimate total lines of enemies before they come close.

IG can be played in a billion plus one different ways. YOu can tune them to whatever you palying still is. I personally play a mechanaized list. Tau are awesome at mechanised too. so ur choice.))

Yeah but the crappy part about you tanks are the fact that they are scimmers but in a way this is good too but not if they are disabled. They just go crashing into the planets surface and are destroyed automaticlly. And I don't think any of your armor can match the power of the Baneblade.
Oh yes speaking of which I just picked both of mine up today and have one half assembled and the coolest part is my Baneblades are actually registered in Canadian Games Workshops. They now have there own Vehicle Serial Number and also has me recorded as thier Regt Commander. It's so cool. And I was told that this was only done for the first ones sold on there release date.

The baneblade is not the most destructive and awesome power everyoe thinks it is. IT can die really really easy. Also, Mech Tau work awewsome cause of their landing gears which nullify the crashing rules.

Back to the Baneblade... If I had the choice I would rather put those points into having a lot more tanks than just one, cause you can stun the crap outta the baneblade adn not let it fire vital weapons, and that can be done really easily too.

Number 1 best air unit is... *drumroll* Manta Ray Missle Destroyer.... 1950 points alone. Its the Tau's answer to titan killers.

I'm actually debating between Tau and Imperial Guard...
Go IG, there are a LOT fewer IG players than Tau.
Other than lack of IG players, why should I go IG?

the wide range of possiblities that Guard has is a resaon I like though not the reason I choose guard for. I picked guard because I read and liked the fluff and went with it. Now if I could just get enough models of infantry built for a whole company id be happy
I have noticed the Guard have a lot of choices, but I'm more preferential towards Tau fluff...

And I don't think I can field an army of Gue'vesa.
OH yes. Yes you can.
I havent ever seen it before...

As I stated before I withdrew my comment on your armor when I was reminded of the landing gear. And I know that the Baneblade isn't the strongest tank, But it is still pretty powerful and it doesn't follow the normal rules of tanks in 40k, There is a whole new set of rules for tanks such as the Baneblade in the Apocalypse rule book. So no its not going to be as easy as you think to stun the crap out of its crew. And then the Baneblade also has 3 structure points, So you are going to have to kill it 3 times over.

Or pump it full of lascannons with a Terminus pattern Land Raider or gun line of Imperial Guardsmen.

a 55-100 point rough rider squad could turn the whole thing into scrap metal if you give em melta bombs. Providing you have some dense terrain to use them in, but still quite a good way to keep those useless superheavy tanks away from cover.

Well if you have the money I would recommend the Imperial Guard Company it contains 1 Command Squad, 2 Cadian Officers, 120 Cadian Shock Troops, 12 Cadian Special Weapons and 18 Cadian Heavy Weapons Teams. Not sure what the price is, I think its around $350 CAD.
But if you can't buy that set work on getting 1 command squad, 2 junior officers, around 60+ guardsmen and at least 6 Heavy weps. And if you want throw in some tanks. Hope this helps.

I can buy it I just don't have near enough time to paint that much.

I bought a battle force (something like three heavy wep teams, two IG units *unknown size*, a command squad, and a leman russ) I bought a second leman russ just in case. I also have a couple unbuilt heavy weapon valhallan teams at home which I will add as kind of a special shout out to the boys that still love the valhallans (I hate GW for discontinuing them).

Gue'Vesa:

1. an old article on how to field squads of humans in a Tau army.

2. An article on how to build an Imperial Guard regiment serving the Tau (scroll down for the TAU GUE'LA AUXILIARY ARMY list)

Ok so the battle force contains x2 10 man guardsmen squads, 3 heavy weps and 1 leman russ. Unfortunatly it doesn't come with a command squad. So you will need to go and buy the command squad seperatly and I recommend you get at least 20 more guardsmen to have 2 troops choices. With the IG you require at least 2 squads to make one troop choice.

The fastest way to getting a great and legal Guard force is to buy the following:

- Cadian battle force
- Cadian command squad
- Armoured Fist squad (Chimera + ten Guardsmen)
- Cadian shock troops boxed set
- Blister of Cadian officers

All in all this ought to give you:

1 HQ + support squad(s)
1 Infantry platoon of 25 men
1 AF squad plus transport
1 Heavy support choice

((Ooops)) Humans get a 3+ in close combat AGAINST the Gue'vesa! eek

I think I'll skip on that "field an army of Gue'vesa" thing.

But...then again, it IS a IG army with some Tau stuff right? Just do some converting and pray they don't come into close combat but then again, when you're playing as the the Tau you should avoid that anyways, right?

Actually, unless you're palying Tau with human allies, the Tau Gau'Vesa Auxilliary army is essentially guard with tau bits attached. Nothing actually special about them.
