"I think they'd look good together," Maia said, but she was grinning at him. "Lori's so buff and the bookworm--Luca, is so scrawny, it proves opposites attract!"
Forty years huh? Before his fiancee died. "Well, you're due for one. I'll ask Lori about setting one up tomorrow when I see him. I bet he's so happy!"

It was quite some time later when Dari came home, although it was at a predictable hour. He entered with a smile on his face.
"Hello!" he called.
"Hey, you! How was work?" Toby called back.
"Oh, the same as ever." He came toward the living room and found Maia wrapped in Toby's arms. His smile widened.

"Hi Dari!" Maia smiled at him, "Want to watch a movie with us? We were about to pick another." She gestured, indicating that he should sit down. "We went shopping, I think we bought half the store..."

"Good!" Dari said with a nod. He pulled his drive-out projector out through his palm and turned to look at the television screen. So they'd gone shopping, and now they were watching movies. He assumed that all was going well.
"Sure. Just let me get out of this suit. How're you doing, feeling better?" He appeared to be asking the both of them.
Toby turned to him and nodded with a smile. "Yes, a*****e."

Maia gave Dari a smile. "Much better," She said. "Don't call names," she said, shaking a finger at Toby teasingly. She'd gotten used to their name calling affection long ago. "How's everyone at work? Did you tell Seamus I was coming home?" She was looking forward to seeing the cat sidhe.

"Oh, fine. I didn't tell him, no. I didn't see him, but I thought you might want to tell him yourself anyway." The sidhe would get excited, and nobody deserved to see that more than Maia. He wandered off toward the closet in the hall and began to undress. Since Maia had taken his room he mostly lived out of the coat closet. He changed into a pair of comfortable pants and joined the couple on the couch. They were a couple now, right? They had to be.
"What are we watching?"

"I'm going to see everyone tomorrow, I'll tell him then." It'd be fun to surprise the cat sidhe. Maybe she ought to bring his present along with. She was sure he'd like it.
Maia looked to Toby for the title of the movie. "I wasn't paying attention," She confessed. If she wanted to focus, She probably didn't want to be seated in Toby's lap.

Dari nodded and smiled to Maia, then settled in. He's never spent time with Toby while there was a girlfriend around, but they'd been acting like a couple for so long it didn't feel as different as he thought it might.
Toby just shrugged while the opening credits began to roll. He wasn't paying much attention either. He leaned his chin on Maia's shoulder and kissed her neck once, briefly.

"Toby asked me to be his girlfriend," Maia informed Dari, since Toby had failed to say anything. She smiled at the alien. "We'll have to catch up later, after the movie?"
She leaned against Toby, eyes veering to the television. Hm. Well, it didn't matter what movie it was. It was all pretense to cuddle, she was sure.

"Oh did he?" Dari asked, meeting Toby's gaze over Maia's shoulder. Toby just smiled.
"I might have," the werewolf said.
"Ah. Well. How gentlemanly of you," then to Maia, "Yes, I think we do have some catching-up to do. After the movie." After they were finished cuddling.

"We should get started on dinner then too," Maia mused. She'd lost track of time, but if Dari was home it was past five. "Did you decide what we'll make?" she asked Toby. They had picked out several things to try during the weekend, it'd probably be something simpler this evening.

"How about stir fry tonight?" Toby asked. He had a wok and everything, and it wouldn't take long. "It'll be nice and easy." Unlike this past month. He kissed her neck again.
Dari's smile broadened yet again. "You two are a cute couple."
"Why, thank you."

"Stir fry sounds great," Maia smiled, leaning into the kiss slightly. It certainly sounded better than Chinese. She smiled at Dari. "You helped get us here," she said, reaching for his hand. "Thank you Dari."

Dari reached out and took Maia's hand, giving it a little squeeze.
"It seemed pretty grim there for a while. I'm glad you came around, Toby."
"So am I."

Maia smiled. "Yeah, it did," she agreed. She'd all but given up, even suggested to Dari that they ought to. She turned and kissed Toby on the cheek. "I'm glad too. Lets do something this weekend," She invited. "All three of us. We could go to the lake Saturday night."
