But honestly, Andrew. You please be proud to listen to any band you like listening to. It is YOUR PERSONAL choice. It doesn't matter if it's metal or not.
The only reason why we're discussing if something is metal or not, and what it exactly is, is because we like to know what we like. And because the mainstream media do not understand what is metal.
And because we're just like that - we all like to discuss anything that's metal. smile

damn only that much I know is metal? I thought As I lay dying would be metal and I know I know just because some bands aren't metal according to this guild doesn't mean i'll stop listening to it, I just wanted to make sure which of the bands I usually listen to was metal or not so uhhh shadowlit facade thanks for clarifying this

It's just I feel stupid that half of the bands I have been listening to aren't metal and all this time I have been calling them as such and it took some club at gaia for me to figure it out -_-;

If it helps any more, if the band you think is Metal but isn't on Metal Archives, than it probably isn't Metal. Though not always, theres some bands that aren't listed on M-A. Thats also a great website to find new bands.

Don't fault the guild or me, for calling a spade a spade. I keep metalcore and deathcore out of my genres for many, many reasons. Most of it, MOST of it, is simply not metal and it confuses less educated people about the band's actual subgenre. Yes, there will ALWAYS be good, even great, bands within every genre.
Whether or not a band is metal should not stop you from liking said band. So what if your tastes lean more towards metalcore and nu-metal. It's personal taste. No one dictates what you listen to.
And if this guild REALLY cared only about metal, only metal, all the time..... I WOULDN'T have created a non-metal forum.
This is more about your problem with acceptance of your own personal taste than with my guild's classification. There is nothing wrong with what anyone has said so far. Sugar Plum was correct in his editting of your list. Digital was correct in his assessment as well.

I can tell you that a guild that's purely devoted to metal bands doesn't last long. I was in a guild quite some years ago that discussed only metal bands and their gigs and nothing, absolutely nothing else (apart from camwhoring and new members introducing themselves, but those can be found in every guild). I was an active among about a dozen others at first. Then people started leaving, no new members joined, the discussions faded and eventually the guild died. Well I think it might still exist (the name of the guild eludes me at the moment), but the last time I visited there hadn't been any activity in almost a year.
And the guild leaders, I think there was 3 of them, were all hardcore badass people - doing drugs and getting involved with bad crowds and the police and stuff so I never felt like I belonged there. Especially when every other active had left and it was just me and them. I had them on MSN, but the conversations weren't productive or even sensible most of the time, so I deleted them and quit the guild.
