Kara nodded as she watched the two little angels eat, taking a few bites herself, "It would be, it looks like what Serenity needs, and it would be nice for her to see them. Even with the time difference between worlds, the Seconds," she motioned to the girls, "Grow in stages, which means they grow very fast. So it would be lovely for her to meet them while they're still children."

Ulani smiled. "And of course, very few would miss her here ... sadly. But despite that, it will be well worth going without her for a while if she can be with Elnara again, even if it's just a short time in your world."
Ulrich nodded agreement. "And as you can tell from this morning," he added, "the sooner the better. Life here's making her as mortal as a human. No offense," he added quickly, nodding to Donovan.

"None taken," Donovan replied drly, "She looked.... a lot older than she should be. The stress is getting to her I think," he murmured thoughtfully.
He wasn't a full fledged doctor though, not like some of his cousins, and even then she was a different type of elf. But body and mental stress was still the same, they would probably know better than he what was going on.

Kara nodded, "And it would be good for Elnara, since she still needs to be connected to here," she replied, "It would be sad if Elnara lost the parts from this world just because of other people's ignorance. She's trying hard, and Yuki and Yue are trying hard to catch up to her in writing, but neither of the boys will be able to catch up in actually speaking. Their lives just doens't allow for that kind of learning anymore..."

"Well," Ulrich smiled softly, "at least she's keeping up with her language by teaching it to her children ... apparently." He nodded at Skye. "I still think it's interesting ... she's deaf, but she recognizes Serenity by the elvish nako ... far more easily than she understands that she is her biological grandmother."
He blinked. "Sort of ... by Elnara, anyways ... since of course ... Skye was adopted, so I guess she has no biological grandmother ..."
He glanced at Kara sidewise. "Does she?"

Kara shook her head, "The Seconds are a new race being created by two deities, similar to the people who put all your ancestors here in a way," she explained, "They are born from vases, a kind of magic I've never seen, so as a result there is no former mother or ancestor to them. Miyu is the first to have parents at all."

"I guess being deaf, it's hard to explain these things to her," Donovan replied, "And being a Second, even Miyu came from a vase, but it was with the essence of her parents. So the whole concept of having children is foriegn... as Feng's babysitter found out the hard way when she failed to understand where most babies come from."
He then added as an afterthought.
"Thank god, I didn't have to explain that to her, it's hard enough with half of her being a fish," he mumbled.

Ulrich burst into laughter at Donovan's remark.
"It's been so long since we've had to answer any questions like that," he chuckled. "Not since Trex was little ... oddly enough, he asked Ru first." He laughed again.
"Poor Ruwen," Ulani murmured, clicking her tongue sympathetically. "But then ... the two were always close when they were growing up, so that was probably why, if you think about it."

Kara giggled at the thought, "Unfortunately since her babysitter's grandchildren brought it up, he was stuck with it, because Feng couldn't understand how a mother could have one in their stomach."
She smiled a bit thinking about how strange it must have been for Feng.
"It must have been interesting," she commented.

Donovan rolled his eyes at Kara, "Look at it this way, we'll probably have to deal with it several more times, I'm surprised the others had never asked the question like the way Feng had, or maybe because of Yukito and Yue they didn't have to."
He wondered about that at times, the Seconds seem to take it manly in good stride. Triton though he had a feeling was just dense.

Ulrich laughed again. "You make it sound like we have it easy," he chuckled good-naturedly. "Though I think maybe Ru had it harder than we did."
Ulani reached over and whacked Ulrich upside the head. "How many ten-year-old boys ask their teenage sisters where babies come from?" she scolded him. "Of course she had it harder than we did!"
She was giggling, though.

Skye looked up at Ulani, her eyes wide with innocent shock, and pointed. "Bad!" she said clearly. "No hit!"
She blinked at Ulani a few times.

Donovan muttered with amusement, "Funny, she doesn't say that to you when you whack me," he told Kara.
It was funny, he wondered where Skye learnt it seeing as the family was prone to whacking each other at times. Not hard though.

"Because you tend to deserve it with all the swearing you do," Kara replied with ease, though she had to giggle at Skye's expression.
Miyu blinked owlishly at Skye before looking between Ulani and Ulrich, she didn't understand what was bad, but that was probably because Uncle Yuki got whacked more than once.

"Yes, well," Ulrich chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his head, "I'm not entirely sure I deserved that one ... at least not that hard, anyways."
Ulani laughed, then started clearing the table. "So what are your plans for today?" she asked Kara and Donovan as she set the dishes on the counter. "Anything in particular? Serenity won't be back until dinner, or possibly later ..."
