WOW, I wish I could do this! One time a Professor I worked with from Fujian once asked me what my american name means?
MELANIE Gender: Feminine
Usage: English, German, Dutch, French, Greek
Pronounced: MEL-a-nee (English), ME-lah-nee (German) [key] Derived from Greek μελαινα (melaina) meaning "black, dark, dark moon/night". This was the name of a Roman saint who gave all her wealth to charity in the 5th century.
It was translated into Mandarin in about three or four different ways, but ACK.. I wish I could see my prof-friend again to have them in writing. It looked gorgeous!

It was but iv'e substituded the phrase with another twelve roses, but i'd still like to know since i didn't get a date and intend to give her all the roses in the world to the power of ten every day until she agrees to give me a chance. Thanks
