Oh man... our band was in Idaho for four days, and by the bus ride back we had two new couples:

Trumpet/alto sax
Trombone/bass

From what I understand, the trumpet and alto sax were only going out for the weekend, though. o.O;; Dunno why, exactly. But I'm thinking they might continue going out even though the weekend's over. And I don't know if the trombone and bass player are DATING... but they fell asleep next to each other, and the trombone player had his arm around the bass player and she was holding his hand.

Oh, and I found out that one of my friends (a trombone player) likes a drummer in concert band and one of my other friends (a oboe/alto sax player) likes the jazz band guitarist. Funny thing is, he's a freshman and she's a junior. And everyone (well, everyone in my hotel room, which was three people) thinks I should ask out the tenor player I like. They think it'd be "good for him." Not sure exactly what they meant by that... but okay. XP

There are band-lationships in my school's band...Probably the one that stands out most is the flute/baritone one. They've been going out for a while...I have no idea why, they're always fighting or something.

There's a lot of drama involved in a lot of my band's relationships~

And then there's a tenor sax who's dating a girl who used to be in our band, but is in college now. It's so sad, he misses her so much. ;_;

I can think of quite a few at my school... actually, most of these are just within Jazz Band..

Trumpet/Trumpet... Two of my best friends, One's a first, and the other's a second... I think. He shows off for her all the time though... it's to the point of being disgusting.

Trombone/Trombone... Been going on since Band Camp, and now we're nearing the end of 3rd quarter. I think they must have been glued together or something... they're never seperate. Sorry for her though, he graduates this year, methinks.

Bari Sax/Flute... Aie... Yes, they're hanging on to each other too... I think that one started around Band Camp time too... Bari guy switched to Clarinet for Pit Orch. this year, the Flute was in it too... He rubbed her back when she was tired during one of those late rehearsals. It was disgusting.

I'm crushing madly on the lead Alto in my Jazz Band. Have since last year... I sit next to him (Second Alto)... Oh... Luckily I haven't drooled in class yet... or at least I can disguise it with a re-wetting reed excuse. sweatdrop

Uhmm, in band, that's perfectly legal with out being in a relationship. It's commonly mistaken for being something that it's not.

We have so many relationships that come and go... it's not funny.

Yeah, but our band's a little... weird. XD Dunno how exactly to explain it, but yeah. Our band's so small that's it's easier to date outside of the band than it is to date inside the band. Plus, we don't have stuff like band camp and full band trips to places hours away (since we don't march or compete) so if any band members show interest in each other, there's a reason for it. ^^;;

Never been in a band-lationship myself... but there was the It Couple until they broke up (and there was a big controversy over it too *shocker there*)

Alto sax/claranet

They were seriously never more than 5 feet away from each other. At any given moment. It was nuts. And one was always in the other's room at camp, and some questionable things happened. We constantly teased them, and asked when the wedding was, etc. etc... typical stuff.

Then the alto graduated and they broke up and the claranet now hates him. sweatdrop

Kinda sounds like something that happened in our band... my freshman year there were two seniors dating, the lead trumpet and the lead alto/bassoon player. They were always together, and they even got suspended once because one was caught in the others' hotel room during the Disneyland trip, which is a huge no-no in our school/district. They graduated and continued going out, until, apparently, last October. The trumpet player, who WAS going to school in Kentucky, moved back here to Washington around the same time as jazz retreat, so he came and visited. During his visit, he mentioned that they broke up in October and now he could care less if she was lying in a ditch somewhere. o.O;; I was curious as to what happened, but I never knew him that well, so I didn't ask.

we have a new fun little 'lationship. the jock/tenor sax player + a trombone freshman girl. neither are highly intelligent, and when they hold each other's hands (aka diffuse) they become even stupider. both are my friends, as is the girl's brother. the lack of brains can lead to some really funny conversations. xd

another interesting prospective bandlationships type tidbit is that one of my friends, the sweetest girl you could ever meet EVER, is always liking boys that like me. in fact, she's has dated each one of my ex's at some point, except for my most recent ex who is still not quite over me and whom she has a crush on now. *sigh* i'm just glad she doesn't hold it against me.

We have two, particularily. They have both exsisted to this day and have been going for at least a year or more.

We had one, but it only lasted about 4 days really. When we went to Disney Land.

i have notice in our band that people tend to hook up for band trips and end it as soon as we return to the real world 3nodding

My friend, a junior oboe/alto sax player, just asked out the freshman jazz band guitar player yesterday. He hasn't given her an answer yet. The other girls in our hotel room were joking around on our trip and saying she should ask him out, but we didn't think she'd actually DO it. o.O;; This should be kinda interesting. XD

So he likes her, apparently. She didn't exactly ask him out yesterday... she gave him one of those fourth grade notes that says, "Do you like me?" and then has a box for yes and a box for no. XP It was an inside joke with the people that had been in our hotel room. In any case, she got the note back after lunch today, and it had a check in the "yes" box. She was grinning like an idiot most of fourth period. XD But now she's in that, "Okay... what now?" phase. It's so funny. Ah, band love. XPPP

Sinsa
(I'm new here btw)

Most bands have at least 1 pair of kids who are in a relationship, in our band we call it a "Band-lationship". Now, we had one band-lationship in our highschool band last year, now, at retreat girls can't go into guys cabins and guys can't go into girls cabins (god only knows what happend to cause that). While I wasn't in highschool when this happend I was in jazz band with these 2 kids and they really did go at it (silly altos).
Since then these 2 have gone diffrent ways (the chick quit band) and up till now there hasnt been a "Band-lationship". Now I am going out with the bass trombone and we are the "Band-lationship". He sits right next to me in band, both Jazz and stage (I play bass clarinet in stage and trombone in jazz) so we are the butts of many jokes.

Now, onto my actual topic, do you have a "band-lationship" in your band? If so has anything funny or annoying happend from it at retreat, camp, tour, or concerts?

Damn that was long....

I think everyone in our band is dating someone in band lol .. Its just not cool to date someone whos not in band at our school. Me and my gf are in band all of our friends are dating peeps in band.. Lol..

ok there are alot of odd band member-band member relationships that go on.. well we all screw eachother [jks]

but i thought this was talking about like friendships --- whose more compatible with one another, in my bdn this is how it goes:

the trombones, baritones, tubas are tight- and they love the french horns

the trumpets are hated by everyone [not really- but they're so damn loud eek ] except soprano sax

trumpets and french horns are tight [or so the trumpets think] except for the fact that we hate them - loll- becuase we have to sit right infornt of them and they don't realize that they're blowing their horns DIRECTLY IN OUR EARS!!!

clarinets and tenors are good with eachother

altos are mostly just friends with eachother and can get along with the clarinets

flutes are hated by the tubas and percussionists

percussionists are hated by the clarinets [strange i know]

french horns and clarinets are pretty good

bass clarinet is included with the clarinets by the way lol

flutes and tenors get by fine

bassoon is loved by all [mostly except for some individuals]

the oboe is hated by the clarinets

the oboe and trumpets go hand in hand [ forgot to mention that before]

the percussionists hate the trumpets.. but the trumpets dont know.. he he

{sorry we dont have strings.. only in our jazz band}
but somehow we all go out with eachother..... weird

that's how it is in my band.... i dunno bout yu guys...
