Karasu~Lady Raven~

*Karasu actually smiled at Melissa as the girl ran to her before she turned to face the wolves once more*
Hugin the Raven
WHAM CRACK

Those were the sounds of two wolves being rammed against two quite stout trees behind Karasu, breaking them as they did so. They scrabbled off of the ground much slower than usual, shaking their heads to try and regain what part of their consciousness they had left. They were shaken, quite badly, with quite a few of their ribs broken. Big animals like that didn't go down easily, but they did get quite damaged before they either gave up, or just plain moved on.

These two wouldn't give up, and once they were back to their senses, they'd attack again. If there were any time to finish off these two humongous devils, it'd be now.

and to think that I used to protect animals over humans... who would have thought that the world would change so much?*Part of her was slightly disappointed that the pair had chosen to face her instead of leaving while they had the chance*
What is the one thing that all animals have in common Melissa?

They all need to breath....
stare *There were essentially two ways to cut off a beings air supply, you could smother them with too much air all at once or you could be more technical and remove the particles of oxygen that made air breathable....if the wolves had not been dazed at this point Karasu would have chosen a different method to put them down, because this required concentration! First she removed the oxygen molecules in a bubble like area around the wolves heads cutting off their air supply, fairly certain that unlike tomorrow the wolves would not be able to make a spark to ignite all the left over hydrogen molecules and create an explosion to escape her! Secondly with a wide sweeping gesture she clapped her hands together, directing two wind sheers towards each other... with the wolves in the middle, crushing the remaining air right out of their lungs and holding them there, it would not take long for them to pass out.. likely they would be unconscious before she literally crushed them between two walls of wind.*

A sickening crunch was heard as the rest of their ribs broke. Mercifully, neither of them felt a thing. Their air supply had been cut off long before they were hit with the twin walls of air. The whole fight would take just under a minute and a half, enough time to get nice and messy. The only question was- where was Melissa?

He was concerned about her, but more concerned that they get to their destination without incident. Still, she was the lynch pin behind this whole thing, and he needed to get rid of Ymir. For her sake, and for everyone else's. If Ymir was gone, his powers would be gone and all who would use them would be effectively neutralized.

First things first, though. He cleaned off the rest of the residue, sheathed the sword behind him, and called out.

"Melissa! You all right?"

Karasu? He wasn't worried about her. She had just demonstrated that there was no reason to worry, so he didn't.

*The lady stood once more dusting off her gloves as the air arround her settled into more normal patterns once more. She looked at the corpses and frowned once more, realizing that the powers that Hono had gained through her time with Sunstrike could have been quite useful about now... In fact the thought of Sun and mor the Salamander brought a smile to her face again as she turned to look at Evan* twisted

Clap clap

"You killed the wolves!!!" A small child toddled out from behind a tree. Obviously, from his voice, he was no ordinary child but he didn't lash out or anything. Blond curls incircled his face as ageless blue eyes peered out. "That was so cool!"

Evan turned his head, looking over his left shoulder to peer behind him. Okay, so they just got done killing a trio of five foot high wolves that could have easily overpowered anyone else, and now this child comes along. He didn't believe in coincidence, but he made no assumptions.

"It's nothing to celebrate about. They were in our way, and had we not done something about it, the whole trip here would have been for nothing. There might have been a way to avoid it, but..."

Evan shrugged, turning around to face the child as he did so.

"Which leads me to the question of your name."

And how you happened to arrive just as we finished, as if from nowhere.

He wouldn't ask why he was here- that question would answer itself over time. There was no way to know how old he was, no matter how young he looked. He didn't feel young, though. It was just an instinctual, gut reaction... but probably a true one.

"Me?"

The child looked surprised that the man would even bother to notice him. His expression and attitude seemed to say he was older than he looked.

"I am Hakan." His declaration was simple. He couldn't have been more than five at the upmost, but he spoke well, if heavily accented.

"Melissa! You all right?"

"I'm A Okay!" said Melissa from behind Karusu, "But I want to scratch one of those wolfs on the nose really bad. Nyan!"

"Wasn't it though! Not the killing part, but they were going to eat us!"

Melissa looked toward the broken carcasses and quickly looked away, breaking into a little bit of a sweat, slightly crying.

"Oh no, couldn't we have done this without killing them?

She had seen her share of death and destruction, had been trained for it, but something the sight of blood staining that soft fur and white snow; the still corpses of the big dogs, upset her. Evan said there might have been a way to avoid it, but it was too late now. At the least, she could respect their effort, she ran toward the corpses, bowing respectfully before each one while Evan continued talking to the goldenhaired little boy.

Hn... now we have another unknown factor. I can't just leave him out here, though. Perhaps either the dwarven folk or Idunn herself will know more about this one. I'll have Karasu look after him.

Evan sighed and turned towards Melissa. "Let's get moving, everyone. We still have a ways to go yet before we get to the camp site. Hakan, do come with us. I don't know how you got here, but you can't stay out here.

"Besides... you were looking for us, weren't you?"

Right now wasn't the time to beat around the bush. He was too old, too intelligent. The "boy" wasn't five years old, that much was for sure. Either he was sent, or he knew this group was coming and waited. Which one was unclear- yet it was time to get moving.

Hakan smiled at Hugin, then toddled over to the wolves that Melissia was bowing in front of. " I don't know if I was waiting for you. I was just waiting for the wolves to die." He laid a chubby hand on each wolves head and they sprung back to life, but merely nuzzled the child's hand before laying back to sleep on the ground.

Hakan then turned to Melissa. "See, they're not hurt now." He smiled and reached for her hand. "You're pretty."

Evan sighed to himself as he watched the wolves come back to life, their injuries healed before his eyes. So he didn't know whether they were coming or not. The awnsers would come sooner or later.

The boy may be just... a boy. A boy who was still, whether he looked five or looked five hundred, older than his appearance suggested.

But even if he were not sent by someone, and did not know whether or not they were coming, it didn't matter. He was still an unknown variable in the equation. As much of an unknown as Melissa was. He didn't like not knowing. He enjoyed certainty- the factors which guaranteed success. If there were none, he would make some.

"If the introductions are finished, we really should be going."

And he moved on, walking along the snow-covered trail.

*now that was interesting... Hakan an old name, and an ability to heal the dead?* stare I hate waisting time old son... keep your pets on a tighter leash

*The lady shook her head and started after Evan again, a controled air streem picking up tiny shards of blue glass from arround the area and returning them to the Elemental as she returned the remainder to the vial*

Evan didn't entirely want the new introduction to their quest without a pair of eyes on him. There were too many coincidences here, and he didn't believe in people just popping up from behind a tree, waiting for a wolf to die.

He would have to ask Karasu to keep a closer eye on Hakan once they reached the camp. For now, they continued moving forward, not entirely wanting anything else to get in their way. Killing things was never a pleasant business, but hey- it was their fault for getting in the way in the first place.

Those wolves should have looked elsewhere for a meal.

Wow, first she had cat paws and now the wolfs were coming back to life because of this little boy's touch. Melissa wasn't sure she was still dreaming, but ever since that day she became a kid again she had seen one wonderous thing after another, things most people never dealt with.

The sudden revival of the wolves, and their sudden peaceful nature completely baffled her, but she was fascinated by the little boy who looked only a little bit younger than her. She believed he was good guy because he was nice, and the way he healed the wolves and made them calm. He could be trusted not to hurt anyone.

"Thanks. You're a lot prettier than me though, and you're a boy!"

She would have taken his hand, but.

"I'm sorry," she said, "My paws have sharp claws and I can't figure out how to make them plain old hands right now."

She was almost glad she had at least some strange power right now, even if she couldn't control it, because she was begining to feel left out among all these people with wonderful powers.

"We better keep moving, Nyan!" she said, turning and running after Evan, "Wait Evan, Hakan and I have to keep up!"

The tail swished as she ran.

(( My computer blew up guys. Not sure when I'm getting a replacement. So just assume Hakan follows after for a bit. And Nye, the number I have for you no longer works.))

((bloody hell...well in that case it is my turn*sighs unhappily*))

*Karasu pointed out a split from the main trail that they had been following after about ten minutes, the new trail was hardly even there at all, a very old looking game track that was apparently not used very often anymore.* About an hour up that way... a cave and a little stream, fairly secure and no sign of animal habitation...*she couldn't help but to glance over her shoulder with a scowl at the trio of wolves following along behind Hakan like puppies*
