I practically eat noting monay-Friday and I exercise Like crazy, then on the weekend I eat a little more, but exercise even more.

6'0 and 128 pounds. I have a visible 6-pack. Hooray!

1. HOT.
2. Running?? *shudders*

Alright, for one thanks for the complement, but why did you shudder at the though of running? rofl

But anyway, its not actually unhealthy for me to be my height and weight. I only have a 4% body fat percentage, or so said this scale thing i had to stand on in my gym class, the rest of me is really just muscle, so i just look slim with muscle.

Actually that kind of low body fat percentage can be unhealthy if maintained for a long period of time, you need some body fat for your body to produce a healthy amount of certain enzymes.

If you've ever watched those strong man competitions you'll notice they're not built like Mr. Olympia or anything, they're not body builders... they're incredibly musuclar guys who still have a healthy amount of body fat. Which makes them some of the healthiest men on earth.

Body builders have lower amounts of body fat and tend to destroy their bodies with the added weight of the muscle and just by forcing their body to conform to an unrealistic ideal, like having little body fat and excessive muscle. If I remember correctly. Not saying you're a body builder, but I could swear I've heard a healthy amount of body fat is around 8%+ for a guy.

Really, I think you can't paint everyone with the same brush. All the conclusions we have about healthy ranges are from averaging. If you take a statistician and put his head in a meat freezer and put hot coals on his feet, he will say that, on average, he feels fine.

Every body is different and unique. There is no standard of health that applies to all of them. What is the right amount of body fat for one person may be too much or too little for another.

True, but many statistics are held in high regard for a reason; the body fat ones need to be watched closely. My friend Steve already suffered from convulsions said to be caused by the lack of said enzymes in his system and another friend, I can't remember her name exactly... sorry, but she was also working on getting low body fat for body building and after it dropped below 7% her body kind of stopped working properly, her menstrual cycle halted completely... as in she went 4 months with no period. There is a huge reason why you have to keep your body fat at a good level, because you don't want to find out if one of many dangerous things can happen to you. Sure some can survive like that being that lean, but do you honestly want to risk any of the many severe results of it?

Excuse me while i go cry in a corner now crying ... jk, jk. But seriously, i have always been pretty thin my whole life, and i dont know as much as you guys about how the body functions with proper enzymes and certain statistics the body has to meet, but i do know that the body tries its hardest to adjust to the conditions it is put in, and because ive been this way for a long time now, maybe my body is adjusted to the conditions a little more than must people. Im not forcing myself to be this skinny, its just how i am. And i dont excersice like crazy, i just do what makes me happy because i want to look the way i want to look, ya' know?

I have to disagree.

While I'm all for accepting people's choices, I'm all for them making those choices when informed of the consequences.

I'm sorry, I'll be the first to admit even though I am over-weight I am as healthy as most of my skinny friends, because naturally with my bone structure and muscle mass I'm always going to be a bit bigger, and I'm fine with that.

But at the same time, trying to convince myself every body is different so that I can't say "This person is 500lbs, they must be unhealthy" is unrealistic. Just like trying to lie to myself and say "It's ok to be trying to keep yourself extremely thin" isn't. Maybe he does feel healthy, that's good and great... and I'm not too worried because I know a lot of track kids with bmi about there... although admittedly, my track friends have more physical problems than any of my other friends... displaced hips, strain on various muscles, I can't even remember them all. But luckily, after high-school they filled out a bit and are now at healthy weights. They still suffer from some of the problems brought on by when they were in track, but that was their choice, so I respect it even if I would have warned them of their possible consequences prior to letting them do it.

Yeah, there are exceptions, but generally not extreme ones. There are women my size, and myself included, and I'm sure some men, who people might think aren't healthy, don't exercise enough but really do every day and it's just natural for them to be bigger, and they are healthy. Just like I knew an extremely thin girl who was eating everything she could to gain weight and couldn't, and people thought she was unhealthy and anorexic... but when you start trying to train your body to be something extreme that it isn't naturally on it's own, you need to know the consequences of your actions. Like for anybody that wants to gain weight, they need to talk to people inside and outside of the weight gain community, because I know a 500lb girl who will tell you she isn't happy with her weight, and she doesn't feel healthy. Just like for me trying to lose weight, I recognize if I gain a bit or stay the same it isn't the end of the world, I'm not going to kill myself trying to force my body to my ideal as long as I'm healthy. But I recognize I would likely not be healthy under 125, and I'm 5'7. I doubt I'd be healthy under 135, but since I'm similar to my grandmother in build and that was her weight I go with the lower one in my *dream* world. And that if I manage 140-160 I will be pleased with myself, because being healthy and practicing moderation is more important to me than damaging my body to make myself happy in the moment.

The way in which you treat your body now is what determines how your body is held up when you're older. And my concern is damaging your body when you're young and can "take it" and not being aware that it can cause serious problems when you're older. If people want to do it, that's their choice, but I just prefer knowing they're informed about the choice they're making.

I don't think I said anything that contradicts your statement Ghosty. o.0 Forcing your body to change when you're clearly not built for it is indeed a bad thing.

I just hate it when people play prophet of doom. "Oohh, you think you're okay now, but in the future, when you're older, your 25% above recommended BMI fat is going to turn to toxic sludge in your veins I can't bring any evidence to support this, but you should be very terrified even though you have a clean bill of health, and anyway you won't be able to prove me wrong for 2 decades, ha ha ha."

All i have to say at this point is im happy with the way i look. Sure, a billion people out there can point everything out that is wrong with me, how i way too little but work out anyway, and sure, hell there may be problems for my body in the future, but isnt it dangerous for almost anyone out there no matter what your build is? No one has a perfec body, there are new facts about how you should have keep your body as healthy as possible all the time, but no one is going to be perfect. People are born differently with different health problems, some people look a bit bigger than others there whole lives and vice verca, but I am happy with the way i look, and all my girlfriends have liked my body rofl. Yes, consequences come determined by my decisions for what ill do with my body but quite frankly, its pretty much unavoidable to not get at least a minor health problem in the future, its eminent(sp). Really, im just happy with how my body looks, go ahead and say what you want but i am what i am.
