Is that the contsruct by which places like this exist...? Because if that is the protocol assigned to Bard's ability to come back, I will be much more at ease, Captain.

:::She wiped some sweat gently from Maggie's face:::

:::Cora raised an eyebrow at Tavin's indirect answer:::

I don't know Captain...would it hurt :::you:::: ?

If you ask me to deny every shred of science that has defined the human status I've lived my life by from the moment I could have memories, I will, and I'll believe you...if it means that I don't have to lose her. :::She takes Maggie's hand:::

:::Faith, that was it. That was the word that meant "deniable logic"...the thing her people would kill her for having:::

It does hurt...Captain. :::Cora feels the mental strain deepen, and she's tempted to just let the tears roll from her eyes, but she can't. Not in front of him:::

These friends, this faith, has destroyed everything I've ever known, and it seems that if I am not careful, it will destroy everything I could be as well. It has made my whole existance prior to the Brink a lie. ...but now that I know it, I would not have it any other way.

*Tavin wraps his arms around Cora in a big hug*

Cora. Nothing has actually changed from before you were in The Brink other than your perception of the things around you. You see the world differently now, because you have learned things. This is normal. As we gain understanding of the world around us, we see it in a different light, it begins to mean different things. Don't ever feel like what could have been has been destroyed, because that isn't possible. Its only matured and evolved into something different.

*Tavin looked Cora dead in the eyes, tears running down his cheeks*

Being kicked out of your race? Hunted down by them, perhaps? Being branded an outcast becuase what you feel and believe is unacceptable to the world you live in? Cora, I have nothing BUT understanding for what you mean. But what I've come to understand is that the world is much more vast than any of us truly realizes. That our own narrow views don't do justice to the scape of what really is. It does hurt to realize that what we've been taught is a lie. I won't say otherwise. But knowing that... THAT doesn't make us less. It makes us MORE. It makes us better for understanding that what we knew all along was wrong. It means that we can forge on to understand the truth of things. That's whats important.

*Tavin nodded, still holding Cora in a hug. He gently petted her head, reassuringly, like you would an upset child*

There, there. Hush, now. We've all had a rough time, have we not? But time and patience will reveal the answers that we need. You should go get some sleep now, Cora. I'll stay here and watch over Maggie, so don't worry. You go rest for now, we'll try to think things through later, when we're both thinking clearly, okay? You just hang in there, okay?
