DiddleFreak61387 Masquanade RinoaHeartilly DiddleFreak61387 WHO'S DIDDLE!?!?!?!?!? And you call yourself a band nerd?!?!? Uhhmm... I'm a freshman?? sweatdrop xD I don't know a lot of composers... I don't know either THEY DON"T KNOW WHAT A DIDDLE IS!!!!!! And masq leads the BNG... and she's a senior! eek I think I'm going to cry. I'm a freshman (in 4 days!!) and I've gotten COMPLIMENTS on my diddles. A diddle is when you bounce the stick twice or more in one stroke. As in paradiddle, but I bet you don't know what that is either...*sobs*

Your lucky....At my school girls arent really allowed to play the drums.....excpet the teachers daughter of course. Our band is a last name band. Depending on what your last name is youll make it or breack it. I tried out for bass drum and two days beforew the auditon the teacher dragged a boy knowing he was better then me to audition against me and gave it to him. There had been no other people auditioning for the other drum other wise......I really dont think the teachers like me. I rty out for stuff Im good at but they instist on making everything a popularity contest. I want ed nothing more this year then to play tenors but I refuse to try out because if I do they will just give them to someone else. We havent had a girl on Drums for five years......so sad. crying Anyway Im new. My name is Lainey, Female, 15, Sophmore, Rosemount High school marching band 1st in state, Second in Ankeny regonal thingy, I play Pit-Mallets but due to bad skill the first year I was auxillary and last year I broke my arm at band camp meaning......1 more year as auxillary. Im hoping for vibraphone now though. Auditions are on Thursday......and I have worked my butt off too.

Sakeyum Hey what kind of drums are everyone's favorites (band wise) What sticks do you prefer? So im getting the impression that most people's drumlines arnt as uniform as mine in that we all use the same sticks provided by our drumline caption head. Vic Firth Signature Series - Ralph Hardimon. In winter drumline we use ralphy jr.s...we have pearl marching equipment including snares, tenors, and basses. We use remo heads on our tenors and snares and pearl heads on our basses.

If you want to play good open diddles then you MUST think of them as seperate strokes. Start practicing them very slow and isolate the time in between the first note of the diddle and the second note of the diddle. Then gradually speed it up untill you cant isolate the space anymore. Then whatever tempo you are at, thats the tempo you should practice you diddles at. After you get the isolation back, bump it up again until you cant and repeat the process until you have clean beautiful open diddes...like me! mrgreen

I have this girl in my band.... she only plays the bells, she yells at me if i touch them, she forced the BD to let her use the marching bells for the parade. The sad part is, she can't read the music, so she's writing it out on paper, then playing it that way. I tell her she has to learn, she said she doesn't want to because her way is better. I think her way is more confusing than the Real way. Sad sad sad....
