1st OVA: 3 episodes, made entirely by Pierrot Studios. Watase had nothing to do with it.
2nd OVA: 8 episodes, based on the second season of FY.
3rd OVA: 4 episodes, based on the novel Eikou Den, written be and illustrated by Yuu Watase. I think that she gave ideas to the writer too.

Hope it helps. 3nodding

I think that this isn't probable... But if Viz does, I'll order them even if the shipping price is 100 dollars. xp

Megumi Nishizaki. I knew I wrote it somewhere. It is in the information from Eikoden, in the sleeve somewhere. I still need to read those. ^^"

Slight mistakes:

There's actually only 6 episodes in the second OVA, because adding the three of the first makes 9 and there's only 9 episodes on the two discs for the Oni (OVA) set prior to Eikoden.

The Eikoden novel, is actually two novels. Nishizaki Megumi has collaborated with Watase-sensei on all her novels AnC and FY. And I highly doubt Viz will ever license or publish any of them, regardless of their importance to the overall story. Both sets have novels that go into future story past the original manga and its definitely worth the read.

Watase-sensei actually makes it a point to try to make it to a convention call Animazement in North Carolina every summer. Friends tell me she couldn't make last year due to her deadlines for Zekkare and Genbu Kaiden. I'm keeping my eyes pealed on the guest list to see if she shows this year, because I'm definitely planning on going. Its a lot cheaper and sooner than me getting to Japan at the moment. I still have another year before my abroad requirements ;_; But then it'll be a whole year >^^< I can't wait.

6 episodes? Really? When I did a search on e-Mule, I found 8... sweatdrop

Yeah, I knew that the Eikou Den was "splitted" in 2 books.

To FP: She lives in Tokyo! But we will go skiing on Sapporo... I hope. xp

Definitely 6, that's what the DVDs say ^^ Don't know where someone got 8. Maybe they thought the first OVA was just one episode or something.

gonk my friend saw me carrying around my FY volume 3 in my hands while walking to the counseling center for class placements today. she pointed and said, "Fushigi Yuugi!" and i got all excited so i asked her how she knew it. she said she had all the dvds from the episode taka comes out of the book to the very last episode of Eikou Den eek
the thing im gonking about is that she told me she got it all (8 disks) for only 20 bucks!! gonk she went to chinatown and i guess they sell some anime over there for good bargains...but when i asked her if i could buy it off her (very excitedly may i add) she said no. when i offered her 50 dollars she said no again! eek when i offered her 100 (god i was desperate for those xd heart ) she said no again!!! what theh hell man?!? she even said she thought it was pretty confusing gonk now i must bug her until i get those dvds...i've become obsessed with them...they're all i think about whenever i see her stressed

but really how could she turn down 100 bucks for a set she got for 20?!? gonk i bet if i showed her the "you know you watch too much FY when" list i printed out (its thick man...very thick xp ) she would still say no!! aagh i want those i want those...
(excuse the slight rant but i've always wanted the series after watching the only dvd i have over and over this weekend heart )

Sounds like she got Chinese rips. Man... it took me two-three years to get all of Fushigi Yuugi on DVD. All I had for the longest time was VHS tapes of the first half. Talk about torture. Its all about patience ^^;;;
