Y'all will get a kick out of this. I mentioned how we do a blast program, well, guess what I march for that!?!?
CONTRA-ALTO CLARIENT!!
Yeah, that heavy, 5'6" (guess on height), clarient, that for some reason most people call a contrabass clarinet. Talk about workin out the arms (and killin' your back!). Took me two days to figure out how to play it while standing up! lol

I'm on bass clairy, though we have a contra bass (Bb) in our band! The guy who plays it is like, 7 feet tall, though, so he has no problem with it! He was forced to switch because he was too big for the bass clarinet...lol. I'll probably end up on it next year...
And it's pretty sad when the instrument is taller than your music teacher...

Depends on which ones your talking about! We're a high school concert band from Ottawa, Ontario. At our regonals, we got gold. Though, we did go to Boston, too....we got gold there too. These weren't competitions, though. Each band was graded on how well they played, so there were multiple bands that got gold.

Dark197A heyz! I'm a bass clarinet, too! how'd you guys do @ region? Well... I'm in college so we don't do region. But, when I was in highschool and we have all-region I made 2nd band both years I tried out on contra. Our band at region always got gold in both marching and concert.

Heya... I play the (Normal..) Clarinet... Although this is my first year, Im already pretty good, due to the fact that I have played The Tenor Saxophone for 7 years, and they are pretty similar... Nice to meet you all smile

Hello peoples! I've been playing clarinet for approx. 6 years. I just got a wooden one for Christmas!! I really want to play the soprano sax though.

frozen tomato Hello peoples! I've been playing clarinet for approx. 6 years. I just got a wooden one for Christmas!! I really want to play the soprano sax though. i really want a wooden clarinet. but since i'm not a music major and i only play music for fun, then i probably wont get one. but it's cool that you got one!

::switched to clarinet for marching season starting this coming up fall:: yea, i started out on clarinet in 6th grade (now a sophomore) but switched to flute b/c of VERY stupid reasons, now i'm coming back to my baby after 4 years and i'm very happy to be re-united with my claire!how's that? smile

After playing the most annoying instrument for 2 years, the flute, I turned to the obviously better instrument, the clarinet. That was in 7th grade and I strted out in marching band with my clarinet. It was 'funfun' trying to play high C's when I could manage the middle C. lol. But I got it. Now I'm playing in a highschool band, plus I play clarinet in "A Chorus Line" pit band.

well i play clarinet and im in the north myrtle beach high school marching and concert band and we have won like so many things its not even funny! but yeah ive been playing for 5 years doesnt seem that long huh?
