"Let's just say... the Kingdom of Darkness - even more so than other kingdoms - is a reflection of the current family members in power. Dearest father... hmm... when he was his strongest, the kingdom was very dark... but even he hadn't the power to completely block out the sun. But now the people generally owe their allegence to one with not quite the purity of Dark blood they could wish for - in other words, me. There is much darkness and many deep shadows, but it's not as if no one is ever happy. After all, that would make ours a dismal kingdom with almost no moral, don't you think?" He grinned slightly. No one on the inside usually talked about his kingdom because it was so grossly misjudged in the first place that it wasn't even worth the effort to convice people otherwise. But Dax was different... He looked up, a wide smile on his lips, as they entered the garden. "It's beautiful..." he said, allowing the aroma of many herbs and flowers to fill his nose and mouth.

Dax only nodded. Its sight and scent he had grown used to, but never tired of. He immediatly started down one of the twisting paths. Something he had said had particularly caught his ear and, therefore, stuck in his mind. "Would you ever try to block the sun yourself, Sayael?" he asked. Though he understood the sun was made of his enemy's element, he couldn't imagine a world without it. "I know I'm not really one to convince you otherwise, but a world in complete darkness would be hard to find joy in."

The mysterious look returned to his smile. "I've already told you my plans for the future, haven't I? I doubt I'll have any room for that.... Perhaps, one day far off, when my blood has been watered down, one of the children of Darkness in the future will have potent enough blood to try and obscure the sun... But my mother and I have pretty much ruined any chance of that happening in the near future..." He walked along with Dax, his sensec in near ecstacy. "There is a... balance... between all the Kingdoms, no matter how we fight. Do you know what will happen in this war? Either the Kingdom of Death will finally take a side - which I highly doubt - and that side will be overconfedent enough to start the war or both sides will get so tired of waiting and begin anyway, with or without Death. One of the Kingdoms, most likely a smaller one, will be over-played, seen as uneccesary, and put on the front lines. They will have the greatest number of casualties and then either they rebell and join the other side, which will only do the same to them as their former allies, or they will become completely or nearly extinct." He sighed and then continued. "This will disrupt the delicate balance of the elements and some cataclysm will occur... Or something like that." He shrugged. "I suppose I've just had too much time to think on this." He grinned.

"That's definitely.. a fully thought out schedule of events," Dax said, not sure if he was either surprised or impressed with the Darkness prince's looking outcome for the future. "It must be a burden to your mind. I know if I had something like that boiling in my thoughts, I wouldn't be able to push it aside until my death. Or, at least, until it actually happened. When I was younger, I always claimed I'd be the first ruler to bring peace to all seven kingdoms, but it was never that simple. Now that I'm older, I see what a naive child I was. It's not peace the kingdoms will bring, but destruction upon one another. That's all anyone has to offer, it seems." He reached up to once again remove the bothersome mask before turning his gaze to meet Sayael's own. "You don't seem at all bothered by the topic of war."

He shrugged and slipped his own mask off his face. "I have too much time to think," he said simply. "Of course, that was only one of many possibilities I've thought of, and those are only a few out of the many unfathomable possibilities. Who knows? Perhaps peace shall come... eventually." He sighed and shifted the positioning of his weight slightly. He smiled almost in spite of himself. "Children do say the craziest things..." He turned back to Dax and grinned slightly cheekily. "I was raised a war child, I s'pose I'm too used to it to be bothered."

"A 'war' child? My father wouldn't even let me in the same room with a weapon until I was seven," he said. They soon came upon a small, quaint-looking bench, just where Dax stopped. Slipping his arm out of Sayael's, he sat himself down. "Neither of us may be here to see that day, though." He bit his lip before taking a deep breath. "Because I think.. I want to go with you when you leave the borders." It was a hard, inner decision he had to make, but he believed this was what he really wanted.

He followed Faryn wordlessly, not asking his intention in case it provoked some new venting of the young prince's anger. It seemed like he was following the boy quite a lot lately, not that he minded but it did get a bit annoying. He paused a moment, looking into the room, whos dorr had been left wide open. Inside there was row upon row of books, but that wasn't what had caught Jillian's attention. In the very center of the room, there was a small glass case on a stand. Inside the case, a small stone red stone glittered innocently. There was a sharp in take of breath from Jillian and he walked forward quickly, looks of shock, interest and amusment mingling on his face.
Faryn felt a presence behind him and it wasn't long before he whipped around to confront his pursuiter. However, he only met nothingness. No Jillian, no pursuer, nothing. And for some reason he couldn't comprehend, he felt pulled to go back from his exploratory intents. Retracing his steps, he peered into every room he passed, not quite sure what to look for.

When he found him, he knew. Faryn stopped his search and entered the room silently. It wasn't until he was right behind Jillian that he stopped, crossed his arms, and put on the most annoyed expression he could muster. "What are you doing?" he demanded to know.

Jillian nearly jumped as the other's voice brought him out of his temporary stupor. He turned around quickly, a slight look of aprehention on his face. "Oh, it's...." He sighed and closed his eyes, not sure what to tell Faryn. After all, not many people understood... But then he smiled. After all, it had to do with Faryn's kingdom, so why not tell him? "Hmmm... Do you know what a blood stone is?" He turned back to the small red jewel. "A blood stone is... it's like... hmmm... When a dragon - the old dragons, not the small ones we see today - dies from bleeding - not natural causes like age or sickness - then the very last drop of blood that drips from its heart becomes a blood stone. The blood stone is like... all the dragon's power... it's dying breath, its fury. The Ice Kingdom can't have known how powerful a blood stone is, else they'd keep it locked up in secret... Hmmm... Anyway... this particular blood stone..." He smiled and turned back to Faryn. "Did you ever learn about Isfahel? He was the prince of your kingdom a long time ago... This dragon... do you see the small spiral of purple in this stone? Only one dragon... that was Maur, the Black Dragon. Anyway, Isfahel at last had to kill the dragon by means of shortening his own life... He came back to the kingdom, the dragon's blood stone in his hand, and died on the threshhold of palace. That was the day before his twenty-first birthday... If he'd lived one more day, he would have inherrited the kingdom... The greater irony of this was that if he had inherited the kingdom, a curse put on him by one of his own brothers would have been lifted and he would have lived many more years before he finally died... That brother - Sornin, if I remember correctly - then inherrited the crown, but died of unhappiness and regret, wishing he had never cursed his brother."

Sayael had remained standing, leaning back against a white marble pillar. "Yes... I was raised to lead the war... of course, so was my father..." He didn't appear surprised when Dax spoke again and a slight smile graced his features. "I hoped you would. It's much more pleasant to travel in welcome company."

Faryn had, of course, heard of this story through the countless hours he spent with private tutors. He'd never heard what became of the stone however, and was surprised that Jillian had recognized it so readily. "I learned the story, same as you Jillian," he responded with an undercurrent of irritation in his voice, "It's a 'tragedy.'" Though with the typecast rolling of his tongue, Faryn showed no attachment or sorrow with the word. One could've thought he was talking about his favorite cereal with this matter-of-fact tone. "Anyway, what you could enlighten me on is how the stone got here. Because I believe we had scouts scouring our Kingdom looking for it following his death. I don't like it one bit that the Ice Kingdom is displaying something that's practically a family heirloom here."

He smiled. "Well, that's where the story's fuzzy, isn't it? It turns out that Isfahel was rather a lot like myself... He was a half blood, his mother was a witch from the Kingdom of Ice and had given him a charm that whenever he was in need, he would be able to find his way home. Or, that is, her way home because it led him to the Kingdom of Ice. They took the bloodstone from him while he was unconscious - after all, at that time the Kingdom of Death had a huge debt towards them and the Kingdom of Ice took the blood stone, which was much more valuable than they could have imagined. Of course, they never knew about its powers and it has been... little more than a jewel here. Of course, in the days when it was worn by the royalty here, this kingdom enjoyed a streak of unusually good luck. But they never thought twice about it... Hmm... Anyway, his body was sent back to the Kingdom of Death and he died later the next day. His mother was later tried for trechery by her own kingdom and was hanged from the false charges, because they were afraid she would tell her lover what had happened to the blood stone, because they knew he would want it back. But the Kingdom of Ice has never known much about dragons... That was mostly your kingdom and the Kingdom of Darkness and the Kingdom of Fire..."

Faryn stared at the stone with mild interest. "What a waste for it to stay here. I doubt Father knows about this," he commented. Faryn moved past Jillian and gazed out the frosty-edged window into the garden below. He observed these same princes seen earlier on the ballroom now sharing what one might think would be the beginnings of an intimate moment. Not hushing a scoff, he turned from the window and folded his arms in a guarded manner. The Ice Prince skipping out on his own party to play 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours' with another royal? Pathetic.
"Jillian, just take it and let's go home," he said, voice leaving very little room for opposition.

He raised an eyebrow. "Surely you know the uproar that would cause? After all, I'm the diplomat. I don't steal from the kingdoms. If I did - especially such a rare artifact - I could, in fact start the war I have been working so hard to prevent." He rubbed his forhead with the palm of his hand, wondering just how crazy Faryn thought he was.

Faryn stared at him with cold, 'I-can't-believe-you' eyes. "Surely? Surely, you can't expect me to walk out of this room without a family heirloom that they don't even know the sentiment of. It's a single gem to them. I have millions. They can have a different one," he countered. Gesturing out the window, Faryn made the rude remark, "It's not like pretty boy and the goth royal are going to do anything about it. They're having one of those weird things... what do you call them? Moments? Romantic impulses?"

Although supremely wrong, Faryn didn't seem to know or care.

Raised to lead the war.. But wasn't that the job of the head soldiers? It wasn't that Dax was afraid of physical combat, but he didn't look to doing it for anything other than good sport. "So when do you estimate we'll be going?" he asked. "I mean, I must have time to pack the essentials and decide whether or not my departure will be in secrecy or not." Of course, if he wasn't, he couldn't just come right out and say where he'd be going or else he'd be kept on lockdown. He would have to leave a note if anything.
