"Guah," the man exclaimed as he fell to his knees after the hollow released him from the tree. He fell flat on his chest and a small pool of blood began to form around his blood-sodden shinigami garb. Still conscious, and still very focused on his goal, he spoke two words beneath his breath. "... Funbo Reizu."
((Cue battle music. 'Fire' by Scooter.))
".. ..." A green chakra burst from the reddened flesh of the down shinigami. A split second later he was on his feet and charging at the lone hollow. With a fire in his eyes he smashed forward and raised his sword with both of his muscled hands wrapping around its hilt. A roar burst from his lips as he was in range of the monster, and he swung his sword in a monstrous frenzy at the creature.

Manthius was surprised that the shinigami still had this much fight left in him, most shinigami would have fallen to their feet or were already half dead, but this one.. was persistent. Manthius brought his right arm forward to block the first swing, but the other two were just coming to fast. Manthius backed away from his attacker and got ready to attack.

"Still got fight left in you?" the hollow asked menacingly. "You know, if you stop and beg now, I'll make your death fast and painless, wait.. I lied, your death won't be painless!!". It cackled as it surged forward with the full weight of it's front legs powering it, it began attacking like a windmill using both his arms.

When the first of the beast's blows hit him he didn't even flinch. He pushed forward, unhindered, and continued on with another fearsome batch of swings. His eyes lit with a burning energy as he ripped forward toward his opponent with unmatched fury and unhandled rage.
At the back of his mind he wondered where this rage was coming from... But it didn't matter. He was fighting a hollow and such questions should be left for more convenient occasions.

Manthius was having trouble keeping up with the constant attacking coming from the shinigami, he would have to reply to the fury of swipes given from him as soon as he dodged them. But it was getting harder and harder, but at least his wound was not as large now, he couldn't possibly rest and heal at a time like this. He continued to parry the attacks until he found a small opening where he could return the message.

When that opening was found, Manthius bursted forward stabbing his arms forward rapidly hoping to hit Ugu in the gut or even better the shoulder that he had hit twice.

((*Sigh* I forgot to add the +2 awr bonus I receive from one of my zanjutsu techniques. *Sigh*))
The massive shinigami bent down onto his right knee, effectively dodging the second of the hollow's attacks. The dominant scythe-hand of the hollow, however, pierced the ducking shinigami's shoulder once more. After his attempt at dodging Ugu pushed himself off the ground and let go another fearsome barrage of sword attacks. A roar accompanied the three swipes of his long blade, and his eyes shone even more fearsomely as he pushed forward.

The shinigami finally broke through the parries that Manthius tried holding up. And with that failure to hold up, Manthius took a slash right to the left side of his chest, now there were two different marks on his chest, one smaller than the other. The other two slashes were successfully dodged but Manthius was getting tired of playing defensive now.
Dodge:

With one swooping attack, he lashed out in an "X" like movement fanning outwards aiming to hit the stomach area and move outwards towards the chest then the shoulders.

The 'cross attack' made by the hollow partially hit. Zenmaru, seeing the attack and knowing enough to avoid getting hit, shifted his weight back. Luckily enough the man was able to dodge one of the hollow's hooks, but was unable to dodge its seemingly dominant hand/scythe.
Unperturbed by the slash that ripped his clothing even more, the shinigami charged onward. He pushed forward, slashing downward with a thunderous slash. Following the slash the shinigami awoke his zanpakutou's ability, Chishio Sakurifaisu, to try and sap some blood from the bleeding hollow. Not to let up, though, his sword swung again at the hollow--this time aiming to cleave its mask in two.

Manthius was getting irritated. Fall, why don't you fall?" he began saying in his head. The first slash was quick and powerful, meaning that a block wasn't possible. Manthius leaped back hoping to get some ground and prepare for a counter but as that was done, the shikai of the opposition sudden kicked in, the blood from his left and right chest began to draw to the blade. Manthius nearly snarled as this happened, there was no way he could stop it. But the shinigami wasn't done yet, as he moved forward to try to catch Manthius off guard, Manthius raised his left arm blocking the slash, now he was in position for a perfect counter attack.

Manthius pushed the blade of the zampakuto away from his arm and then with both arms, striked forward with the tips of the scythe-like arms aiming to pierce each side of the chest, hoping to possibly hitting the heart in one swoop.

Once again Ugu found himself defending against a counter-maneuver. His blade, still sucking up the blood that was ripped from Manthius' wounds, moved to parry away the beast's massive scythes. He had blocked it for only a split second--and the scythes slid past his sword to rip into his chest. A gush of blood spurted from his chest and he began to feel the adrenaline of one on one combat.
He make a quick step back and stared on at the hollow. Within a second he dashed to his right and swung his sword at the hollow's arms. Still moving in that direction as he swung, though, he twisted his whole body around. Still bringing his sword around with him he made way to do another smashing slash toward the hollow's left chest.
Still pushing himself with nigh berserker vigor, the monster of a man pulled away from the creature to gain enough room to attempt to stab at the creature's side.
