「PERSONALITY」
Unstable is a good word for Nephrite. She ranges from completely unhinged and violent to playful and friendly within just moments. The key to understanding who she is at the given moment is looking at where she is and the situation she's enduring. She reacts to stimuli by switching between those two modes almost immediately.
Overall, Nephrite is an insecure whirlwind of claws and teeth. She hurts, and deeply. Her father pining for her siblings and ignoring her began to plant the seeds of instability, and her surroundings fertilized it. She was never in a good environment and was surrounded by violence and cruelty, creating someone who handles her emotions poorly. Nephrite is, at the core of everything, scared. She's afraid she'll never be good enough and trying desperately to find anything that makes her mean something.
If Nephrite's insecurities and anger don't ignite she can be a friendly, playful, and excitable wolf. She's eager to befriend others and see what makes them tick. She likes being involved in activities and happily eats up any attention given to her. She can be curious about the world around her and loves being invited to new experiences. She's very affectionate with those she cares for and doesn't shy away from nuzzles or compliments.
She's incredibly protective of what she deems hers and will, without refrain, attack anything she views threatens her loved ones. Murder has never been off the table. She also can easily be told what to do and she'd do it, regardless of what that may be. If you have her affection then you have a wolf at your whim.
Nephrite is also inherently violent. She finds humor in dark and warped jokes and seems to hold zero remorse for anything horrible she does to outsiders. She feels great anger at the fact her father has never cared for her. While she gladly would hurt her father if it was allowed (her pack would surely banish her), she has redirected most of that rage to her littermates. Whoever they are, wherever they are, they've always held her fathers heart. It's unfair -- why wasn't she wanted? Why did everyone abandon her when she was so young? Why did only one wolf step in and love her?
This rage is unpredictable and uncontrollable. She'd happily murder her mother and littermates if she ever got the chance. She obsesses over it at times, frantically trying to find any evidence of where they went. She also harbors deep hatred for her father. With no outlet for this emotions she allows it to overtake her senses when it becomes too much. She's an incredible fighter and most often deadly to meet on the battlefield. Her rage powers her, and she seeks out any chance to let it out. Claws and teeth rip at what they can to make up for the things she can't hurt.
The thing is, this is all so entirely tiring; the battle between happiness and hurt. Sometimes, she doesn't know what to feel and loneliness seeps in. She wants to matter to someone. She wants to be the reason someone smiles and loves. She isn't sure how to go about that, or how to even love someone. Sure, she feels love for her friends, but it's always because they give her something. Attention, validation, a release. She wants to love someone so deeply it almost is all consuming, and have it returned. No one has ever loved her as much as she loved them.
She isn't sure she wouldn't hurt someone like that, either. How would she know they truly loved her without testing it? Nephrite wants and wishes desperately, but even she knows she might be unlovable. Who could love a monster like her?

「BIOGRAPHY」

Nephrite was the product of a lie. Her father fell for her mother and was deceived upon her birth. It was all a ruse, and when her mother left with her siblings she was abandoned with a father who was lost in what had been done to him. He spoke of the lost 'gems' and the woman he wanted to murder for lying to him. He spoke of the wolves who had abandoned him and the anger he felt. He never spoke to her. Nephrite was the ghost of an event he bitterly held onto, and she was lost from his gaze.
It's a wonder she survived for as long as she did. Lone Wanderer was content throwing her on anyone who would care for her at the time, but she always found her way back to him. She wanted his love more than anything, but he kept his eyes on his own goals.

Eventually, Lone Wanderer was rescued by Big Bad after another poor decision and Nephrite met Big Bad, someone strong who believed in her. He was everything she wished her father was, and when Lone Wanderer immediately joined Big Bad's pack she happily followed, too.

Her idol, her leader, her protector. Nephrite believes in the will of Big Bad and all he stands for. She follows any orders he gives without hesitation. He is home, and without him she surely would have been alone her entire life (in her mind). He is the father she always wanted but never dared to ask for.

Her hatred for him runs deep. She can't really hurt him because he too serves Big Bad, but she fantasizes about it. He's never once called her his daughter, and never has shown her affection. Their only interactions have been while on the same missions.

Something inside of Nephrite sees red when mothers are mentioned. She's heard the phrases about a mothers love plenty of times, but it never applied to her, did it? She wonders constantly why she was left behind, and why Jadepaw never cared to check on her. What was it about her siblings that was better?
