As you fly, you find that you're getting into a heavier patch of Thread ahead. You've got a bad feeling about this.... You warn one of your wingmates to let a patch go! Thankfully, they listen, and sure enough, the wind changes! It would have blown the pair right into the patch. As it stands, the wind blows the Thread back, and your wingmate are able to flame it down without injury.
Back off! Phylideth's terseness was a boon when someone needed to be less delicate than T'mor was to make things happen sooner. That the brown was on top of these things was a good sign that they were hopefully feeling a lot better.
FIRE STORM T'mor of Brown Phylideth HP: 17/41 Status Effect: Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage). 3/3 XP: +4 to all, +5 to distribute as I see fit Target Accuracy: 4 Flame Length: 4 General Stamina: 6 General Agility: 4 Between Accuracy: 5 [+1] Pain Resilience: 5 Instinct: 4 [+1] Luck: 5 [+1]
Blasted all! As you jump Between to avoid a clump of Thread, the winds change, and when you appear from the icey depths, it's right into a major sheet of Thread! Heavy Damage: -8 HP! They also now suffer a Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage).
Phylideth, to the healer's NOW T'mor didn't need to be so forceful about it, Phylideth already reeling away from the second burst of pain in so short a time. Calling out to his Wingseconds he informed them of his leave.
FIRE STORM T'mor of Brown Phylideth HP: 17/41 - 8 Status Effect: Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage) XP: +4 to all, +5 to distribute as I see fit Target Accuracy: 4 Flame Length: 4 General Stamina: 6 General Agility: 4 Between Accuracy: 5 [+1] Pain Resilience: 5 Instinct: 4 [+1] Luck: 5 [+1]
As you fight against a strong gust of wind, you feel something pull! Uh-oh. There's a pain in your wing muscle that hadn't been there before. This isn't good, especially this high up! Still, your dragon fights on.
Farvath? F'gon flinched nervously at the strain that went up his shoulder in sympathy of his dragon, but the bronze pushed reassurance right after it. It's fine. Like your jaw after you eat some tough meat. You know your jaw isn't broken.
A large swath of Thread heads your way! Roll a D4 to see what happens!
Calm, F'gon. We have done worse and better things with a level head~
Quote:
If you're a blue 30' or over, brown, or bronze, you're able to catch the sheet with a long burst of flame! +2 Flame Length
Farvath was right about that too, belching hot flame that would keep the sheet from getting any closer to them. Lord, to be that confident and daring again! You can be - be afraid! Do it anyways! The bronze challenged, attempting to shake the fear off his old man.

They'd done worse and better things with level heads and right then they were definitely doing worse things. Farvath, distracted with trying to shake some of that nervous fear from his rider jumped too soon - and too blindly - into a bad spot.
FIRE STORM F'gon of Bronze Farvath HP: 25/38 - 8 Status Effect: Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage). XP: +4/+5 Target Accuracy: 5 [+2] Flame Length: 5 [+4] General Stamina: 5 General Agility: 4 Between Accuracy: 5 Pain Resilience: 5 [+1] Instinct: 4 [+1] Luck: 4
A clump of Thread catches you on your leg. You quickly hop Between, easing the sting of the burn. It hurts, but you're going to fight through the pain. Healers can wait.
With all the pain radiating through their bodies, neither man nor dragon felt the clump, more than saw it and bounced away again to make sure it was gone for sure this time.
FIRE STORM F'gon of Bronze Farvath HP: 17/38 Status Effect: Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage). (1/3) XP: +4/+5 Target Accuracy: 5 [+2] Flame Length: 5 [+4] General Stamina: 5 General Agility: 4 Between Accuracy: 5 Pain Resilience: 5 [+1] Instinct: 4 [+1] Luck: 4
Nothing to flame quite yet, which is almost a miracle in this sort of Threadfall. Still, you're able to relax a moment, look around, and take note of your airspace. All's well... for now.
A moment to catch their breath. Good. F'gon tried to force the pain down - both for himself, and for Farvath. This...hurt less than he thought it would. Your heart will always hurt more. But it is better we put up a good fight for the rest, hmm?
FIRE STORM F'gon of Bronze Farvath HP: 17/38 Status Effect: Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage). You try to flame down some Thread, but your flame comes up short. Whoops! Hopefully your Wingleader didn't see that. Nothing to be done about it now except eat some more firestone, and try to catch the next clump!
Should have had more firestone. K'on said thoughtfully, passing a look up towards their Wingleader and well aware he was having a somewhat harder time what with all of the winds at this altitude. Hmmph.

Was that still not enough? I feel like you've been feeding me stone more than we've been flaming... Alzarth noted with a low hum. Hmm.
This is such a mess! Thread is everywhere. The High Altitude Wing is always in the thick of it, and today is no exception.
If you are a bronze, brown, or blue 30' or larger you find yourself getting hit by the wildly blown Thread! Moderate Damage: -6 HP!
Despite being more than ready to flame the thread being blown about (after way too much firestone, errk- ) it felt like more got blown into them than had been flamed, and Alzarth hissed with pain before blinking away to safety.
The wind is strong and trying hard to buffet you. If brown or bronze you see one of your wingmates struggling against the wind. They're getting blown out of their empty airspace, and dangerously close to a patch of Thread! You are able to twist and accurately flame down the clump they were going to fly into, saving them from Threadscore! Quote a Wingmate that took Threadfall Damage and nullify it! You saved them from the pain! +1 Flame Length
Careful! Alzarth, with all that firestone stored up, was able to flame up the offending Thread before it touched one of their wingmates. Hmm!
FIRE STORM K'on of Brown Alzarth HP: 32/38 Status Effect: -- [1 save held] XP: +4/+5 Target Accuracy: 4 [+1] Flame Length: 4 [+2] General Stamina: 5 General Agility: 4 Between Accuracy: 5 Pain Resilience: 5 Instinct: 5[+1] Luck: 5
The wind picks up, and you fight to keep in formation. Your wings strain, but you're able to keep your place! Though your muscles ache, you're not going to give up so easily. Pern depends on you! +2 Stamina
Pushing and fighting against the wind was certainly a lot of work - but it made them all stronger. Strong dragons and their riders were what defended Pern and kept it safe!
Fire Storm Wing Shahera of Green Therianth HP: 16/27 Status Effect: N/A
XP: Target Accuracy: +2 (+2) Flame Length: +3 (+2) General Stamina: +3 General Agility: +2 Between Accuracy: +2 Pain Resilience: +3 Instinct: +3 (+3) Luck: +3(+3)

You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!? Roll a D4
It as a close call for Shahera and Therianth. Frankly they weren't sure how they survived it. But they had a feeling they could thank their Wyerleadership for the survival somehow.

4. Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has eaten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUNKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get dunked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option.
