Sylvia certainly seemed to have a lot on her mind. Beth listened quietly, instinctively drawing her knees up to her chest before she remembered her state of undress and simply leaned her head against a table leg to adapt a pose more conducive to listening. She smiled and nodded at Tom when he returned. Had he, like her, once more been turned into an animal? Maybe she should have just stuck with her original plan and stayed a mouse until the entire fight was done. She couldn't remember whose bright idea it was to become human again before the witch casting the enchantment had been dealt with.

When Sylvia seemed to exhaust herself, Beth gave a soft but sympathetic laugh. "You've certainly thought it through, haven't you? I don't think I could cover any bases that you haven't." Her gaze became a bit thoughtful as Tom added to the conversation. Carefully, she said, "Even if an eye for an eye feels better in the short term, it's really more about the avenging party's pride than about coming to a meaningful and actionable solution. Anger and pain can be blinding." She shrugged, mulling it over, but realizing that she could have only answered one way. "I think we should let her go. Trust is a two way street. And if we keep looking for someone to blame, eventually we'll find them...even if the damage we do in return isn't enough to regain what was lost." She paused, then her eyes widened. "I can vote from under here, right? We don't have to be up there with everyone else to do it." She put her hand on the table edge and shifted onto her knees as if contemplating pulling herself out."I think I'd rather you take my vote up there, if we have to."

At that point, Brian, Misha, and a woman Beth took a moment to place (Izzy, from the taming of Tara) strode up. They too were talking about the situation. Though she couldn't hear how her friends had voted (her stomach turned as she thought of the fact that they might have voted differently), she heard enough of Izzy's words to guess how she had voted. Or maybe she was still undecided. But she was certainly wary of Circe's power which...was fair, given their experiences. She did giggle a bit at Izzy's nicknames for her friends.

She waved very quickly at Brian and Misha, before resettling under the table. Had they come all the way out for her? She gulped. She hadn't meant to be inconvenient. "You know, Sylvia, I think I will take you up on that offer for the dress. If you're okay with Brian's shirt. I think between Misha's and my perfumes, it won't smell like three people wore it." The long-ish sleeves worried her. She wouldn't be able to conceal her wrists. But she could cover her thighs and that, she decided, was worth it.

"Three ladies and swamp." Misha smiled at Brian as she moved to stand beside Beth's table-haven. "You'll be the envy of all the other guys, Handsome."

Then she looked over at Izzy as she sank into a careful crouch, knees pressed firmly together for modesty's sake and her hand gripping the edge of the table to aid her balance. "But we've pretty much learned the gods are real so it would follow that, if she swore and then went back on her word, there would be some smiting that follows. No god likes having their name taken in vain," she pointed out with a slight shrug. "But why can't we weight the deck more and make her really swear up and down and in fine print before letting her go? We don't want to leave a loophole."

Misha glanced past those around her at Circe and one corner of her mouth crooked up wryly. "She's smart enough to get through one, I bet. Damn witch."

Then she focused back on her little circle, smiled at Tom and Sylvia warmly, and stuck her hand under the table for Beth. "Hey, girl, how's the view under there? I miss your face."

Sylvia vaguely wondering if chocolate was good for owls as Tom approached the cube, not that it really mattered. She was elated to find that the cube worked as Tom shifted back into a human, though he quickly turned to try and find his clothes. She chuckled a bit at his retreating figure, a bit amused that he turned to find his clothes before really addressing the transformation that had just happened.

Sylvia looked a bit sorry at Beth’s comment, but smirked, glad Beth seemed to at least see the humor in her rambling even if it was a bit much. She smiled up at the now-clothed Tom when he rejoined them, and gave a nod, “You’re welcome! I really can’t blame you – that was a weird experience even once.” When he offered his own opinion, Sylvia nodded. They would almost certainly hear about if she did start something again – which would be a pain, but so be it. She realized, too, that while she had already pointed out that Circe had learned about them and their capabilities, they had also learned about hers. Both teams could hit harder next time… And Beth made good points as well – revenge was certainly never an answer she encouraged. It could feel good for a while, but it didn’t fix the issues that were brought up in whatever betrayal had happened.

When Beth began to worry about casting her vote from under the table, Sylvia glanced up at the group still above. She wasn’t sure if there was some magic that would make them hear her from all the way down here. She shrugged and was about to say as much when Beth suggested that Sylvia could bring her vote up for her. Given how uncomfortable Beth had been this whole time, hiding under a table, Sylvia wasn’t surprised that she still didn’t want to come out – and she had no trouble bringing the vote up for her. Sylvia smiled and nodded, “As long as they’ll let me deliver your vote, I’ll be happy to do so.”

Sylvia glanced up at the others who approached their table, and offered a wave. They, too, seemed to be discussing the choice laid out before them. Beth popped out to see them, but was quick to retreat under the table again, and Sylvia peeked underneath to check in. It didn’t seem like her to hide from Brian and Misha – from the little she knew, they were all fairly close so far. Luckily, Beth had no trouble letting on what was wrong. Sylvia smiled and gave a nod, “Of course!”

She peeked behind her and at least let the others assembled know what would be happening, sort of. “Excuse me for just a moment.” Beth was hiding under the table, but it wasn’t worth it for Sylvia to crawl under as well. She turned away, setting her bra aside, and folded her legs underneath her so that she was decently shielded (or, others were, as she didn’t necessarily mind, but they might). Then she crossed her arms and pulled the bottom of the dress up and over her head, shimmying a bit to get it over her bust and shoulders at the awkward angle. She took a moment to turn the dress right-side-out again and then passed the dress underneath to Beth and waited for the new piece of clothing.

"Jesus, Sylvia." Izzy quickly peeled off her jacket and offered it down to her . "For you, or Beth. I didn't realise she was hanging out under there."

Izzy followed what Beth and Misha said, and wished she could be trusting enough to agree. "Thanks. I'd love to be confident that other gods, including her daddy, would prevent Circe from starting s**t again. But I guess I'm too atheist still to have that trust.". Izzy recrossed her arms, and still looked somewhat unsettled. "I'd rather lock her up, for now. I hate it that there might be other turned people out there, but I'd hate it more if we let the witch go, only to hear she set an orphanage on fire or something."

Izzy lifted her chin. "Besides, if her dad really cared about people, an oath shouldn't matter. He should have intervened long ago. So who's to say he's care enough to bother policing her now?"

Mal had one cure and a coat left for anyone who needed clothing, and he didn't seem to mind lending them out to anyone who needed it. He was thinking about it, but really that expression of fear-- and the rage before it-- was what decided him.

"Let her go." He said it with finality. "We scared her. She's a bully-- something gave her the idea she could pull this off now, but she knows she can't again. She'll confine herself to small mischiefs and hope she stays under our radar, afraid we really will kill her if we have to track her down again."

Lex rounded up their cures and moved through the group, checking things around them and looking for people they knew.

They paused, catching sight of a parrot... Sid? And moved over towards them, enough to catch Sid's words and nodded. "Sid, Rob," Lex greeted and picked out a cube, passing it towards Rob. "Just encase, I want to make sure Sid isn't stuck as a parrot, despite making such a lovely parrot."

Rob glared at some of the other Chosen, arms folded across his bare chest. With Sid perched on his shoulder, still in parrot form, and his dreadlocks loose, he looked like a mad pirate. "What the ******** is wrong with you people? Are you so ready to put the boot in on Circe that you can't see the bigger picture? We'll just have to go out again when we find the next town she's cursed with this animal s**t and do this all bloody over again. And again, and again." He pointed at the witch-queen. "Whereas if she goes out and does it again, it's a simple matter of hunting her arse down. Nevermind the consequences she'll face at breaking her oath." As a student of British folklore, he knew a thing or two about that.

Then Lex approached him, and he calmed down a bit. "Ah, cheers." He took the offered sugar cube and held it up to the large macaw on his shoulder. "Ready to be human again, love?"

Luckily for Sylvia, Beth was adept at the art of changing quickly. Her own discomfort led her to ignore her friend's sudden disrobing in favor of covering herself again. She exchanged Brian's shirt for Sylvia's dress. She handed over Brian's shirt and then used the movement to intercept Izzy’s jacket. ”Thanks!” She chirped brightly, relief in her eyes. And here she thought she would have to hide her hands. She pulled her arms through the sleeves with a sigh. Sure, she was once again unseasonably dressed, and sure, Izzy probably thought she was rude for taking a second article of clothing when both Sylvia and Misha were actually (in the former case) and practically (in the latter case) naked. But Beth couldn't quite bring herself to care.

She beamed up at Misha. ”You’re all right!” She shot out from under the table, flinging her now covered arms around the Aphrodite Chosen. ”I think I missed yours more.“ She replied teasingly.

She considered Izzy’s assertions for a moment before suggesting, “Maybe a vow on his name will compel him to take action. If she misbehaves, he has to find her and set it right. If he doesn't want to do the work to rein her in, it behooves him to make her abide by the vow. Like, it’s not just an informal gentleman’s agreement, it's an oath. If the consequences are dire enough, keeping her in line might be a small price for Helios to pay.” She hated the thought of forcing someone to do something with the fear of punishment and death hanging over their heads. But sometimes it took appealing to baser instincts to get things done. And while she certainly didn't look forward to mounting another expedition against the sorceress should she fail to keep her word, she knew that the threat of a father’s wrath was enough to keep most daughters in line.

Sylvia giggled a bit at Izzy’s reaction. She was fine without the jacket, at least, but before she could even react, Beth reached out to snatch the jacket. Her eagerness made Sylvia curious at just how modest she was, but of course she wasn’t going to say anything. She quickly slipped her bra on, which seemed to make more sense than toting it around or asking Beth to hold onto it in her bag, then accepted Brian’s shirt and pulled it over her head. It was big enough to cover her torso and most of her hips, though if she raised her arms at all she would be flashing someone, but she didn’t mind that.

Sylvia wondered a bit at Izzy’s mention of being atheist, seeing as they were literally in a situation with gods that had introduced themselves, in some way or another, to everyone assembled there -- but she couldn’t blame Izzy for not trusting them. The Greek gods were more like humans than any other gods Sylvia had heard of, and Sylvia wouldn’t feel great about trusting anyone she’d just met either. Still, they were incredibly spiteful; she couldn’t imagine any one of them taking kindly to someone breaking a promise made on their very existence.

Sylvia finally stood and joined the group on Beth’s comments and nodded. “These gods may be more human than others, but that also means they have a lot of pride. I can’t imagine what Helios might do to his daughter if she defies an oath on his name, but I’d be willing to bet it wouldn’t be pleasant…” She didn’t know enough to have a ready example of any of the god’s punishments against their own kin, but she was fairly sure of her stance. Still, she shrugged, “I still understand not trusting her, or him, enough to be comfortable letting her go.” She was at least fairly certain of the way she wanted to vote after all of this chatter.

Sylvia glanced at Beth, “Do you want to come cast your own vote, now that you’re properly dressed? Or do you still want me to try and speak for you when I cast my own?” She would understand either way. Beth might have been dressed, but the way she embraced Misha made Sylvia think she might want to catch up with her friends more than worry about voicing her opinion to the group still debating above.

Why couldn't she just bash the bad guys head in and walk away like a bad a**?

To be honest, Mercy could care less about what they did with the rebellious teenager, rolling her eyes at the irresponsibility of the gods whenever their children are concerned. "Sounds like she needs her a** spanked or something." grounding never worked on her as a teen since she could always leave and be back home before her father really noticed anyway. Still, if she had a choice (and she listened to Zeb), letting her go didn't seem like the right choice even if there may be other people out there. They knew how to make the cure right? It would just be a nice side trip to go around giving cures to the people that need it.

She also didn't catch Zan looking at her while she transformed, otherwise, he would've gotten a friendly wink and a smile. But alas, she wasn't paying attention at that point, having heard the familiar voice of Mathilda. She gave Zeb, Zan, and Diryas a friendly wave before heading over in the direction of her blonde friend. "Not as much fun as I'd like," she gestured to her current attire, propping herself on the table nearby, crossing one leg over the other. "I didn't hit enough, I missed some shows apparently," she gestured to some of the chosen who weren't exactly clothed properly, finally noticing her roommate who looked less clothed than she was even after the last time she saw him as a hyena, giving him a wave before looking back to Mathilda.

Well...

"And I'm kind of sad I can't just walk around without all this on. This table cloth is ******** dusty as hell Math...."

What if she got an infection or something?

Turning her attention back to the witch, Mercy crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. She still couldn't believe this little s**t was causing all the trouble. "I think we should take her in. Like Math said, we have the damned cure, let the b***h sit in time out for a bit." No sense in letting her loose if she wasn't going to do anything productive. Oh! Was that?! Mercy hopped off the table she was on making her way towards another familiar head of blonde hair with a pretty macaw on his shoulder. "Rob!~" She playfully punched him in the shoulder before smiling at Sid, "How is it possible for you to make a pretty bird as well woman?" she looked back over at Rob, "She hasn't been like this the entire time has she?"

With her arm still wrapped around Misha, Beth looked over to Sylvia and nodded. "We can definitely head up. I don't know what everyone else got up to." Now that she was (more or less) properly clothed, she was feeling more calm. Her heart still seemed to beat a bit faster than it had before being turned into a mouse. Even the tiniest hint of anxiety set it off. But now that all she had to worry about was crouching or the gaze of an almost unconscious (she refused to believe that they might be dead) body lying on the ground, she felt some of her strength return.

At the remark about spanking her, Zebulon snorted. "Probably. We need to find one of those angry teachers with a ruler." He had heard stories about those teachers from his childhood friends that had been unfortunate enough to go to schools dominated by nuns....

Zebulon waved to Mercy as she bounded over to that overly enthusiastic Mathilda that he had met during the fight to capture Olivia. Made sense that they'd be friends. They were both similarly enthusiastic Ares-types, after all. He shrugged and turned his attention to Diryas and Zan.

Zan seemed inclined to let her go, but that was fine. They didn't have to agree. The important part to him was that Diryas was of similar mind to Zebulon. Take her in. Of course they should take her in. She mostly seemed to be an overconfident (now, anyway, that she knew they weren't going to kill her) insolent teenager of a goddess witch queen, and he didn't trust her in the slightest. He especially didn't trust her supposed vow. He didn't exactly know how gods were with vows, but he knew how people were with vows.

He knew how he had been with vows.

If someone wanted to do something, they would find a way to do it, vow or not. If they broke the vow, ah well. If the vow was somehow binding, there was nothing saying she couldn't find a loophole to get around it. She said she would turn them all back, after all. She never said she wouldn't just start over right after. She never really specified who 'they' were, other than hinting she had started this in other cities. They really had no proof she was even telling the truth about other cities; insolent teenagers lied all the time. And she was invoking her father, who hadn't yet bothered to stop her.

She had caused enough trouble and needed to learn a lesson. Or be spanked, as it were.

"Arrest her."

Character Name: Zebulon Castaneda
Brief description of character: Zebulon accompanies his even temper and clear mind with an oft-frustrating tendency to be snarky even in the most serious moments, needling people far past the point he should. Tagging along is a need for control, tempered by the fact that he does usually know what he's talking about. His normal ease seems lessened at current, though his control over himself is back now that he's removed enough from the conflict with the metal vulture.

Sylvia nodded at Beth and reached out to link arms with her. When everyone seemed ready, she headed back for the other room to approach those still debating over what to do with Circe. She didn’t necessarily think they needed to climb the stairs to be heard, but she decided to climb anyway, approaching the edge of one group and speaking up a bit. I think we should let her go. Make her swear to help the people she’s harmed – and swear she won’t try something like this again…” She wasn’t sure how well that would work, but it was something. She wasn’t entirely up to explaining her reasoning to the group at the moment, so she left it at that and stepped back so Beth could cast her own vote.

Asher wasn't really sure where he stood -- wasn't sure how much he cared one way or the other, honestly. But he could read the vibe of the room, could see the way things were swinging, and he could choose -- whole-heartedly -- to sway in the other direction.

"We should definitely let her go." He adjusted the shirt around his waist and rolled his shoulders just a little, flashing a smirk up at Ed as he said it. He knew which way he'd voted too.

"It's the only noble thing to do." He even, mostly, kept sarcasm out of his voice.

"Even if Helios doesn't give a damn about us down here and hasn't stepped in to stop her because he's a big, stupid narcissist, that's just more reason for making her swear on his name. Guys like that?" Misha shrugged and Beth was forced to move with her friend at the motion since she had latched onto the curvy Aphrodite Chosen so firmly.

"They care more about their name than the little people. Smearing his name will get his attention." A faint smirk crossed her face before she sobered and lifted an arm to motion around the room at the scattered, still animals. "And what about this? What about the people here? If Circe can change them back all at once and keep anyone else from changing, don't we kind of want that to be the case? How are you going to feel if other kids out there change and then... What if it's hunting season, guys? I don't care if you're an emo goth punk. You don't deserve to get shot by a reject from the set of Deliverance."
