name.miro nicknames.snow gender.male race.imp // baphomet birthday.23rd of march 2019 zodiac.chalice orientation.homosexual occupation.model partner.none colour.#aab9cd song.vei - rolling on you romeo
Miro was raised by an entrepreneur and a university lecturer. His parents never allowed him to be anything but perfect, offering little affection outside the occasional praise if he over-performed. His punishments were strict and standards were high, causing Miro to often lash out at other children. He considered himself above his fellow students, but his rich parents and confidence gained him popularity despite his attitude. Without his parents around to guide him or provide him with validation, Miro developed vanity. He thought it was a form of loving himself when others wouldn't, but it was shallow and fed into his patronising demeanour. Despite some negative attributes, however, the hybrid wore his heart on his sleeve. His teachers enjoyed his honest and romantic tendencies, engaging with classes and excelling; others tried to profit from his success, and so Miro could have had an easy and simple schooling experience. Instead, however, his parents forced him to keep striving for more.
By the time Miro graduated from the Academy, he had almost burnt out from the constant work and drive to succeed. Unsure of his future, Miro began spending all of his time going to social events and networking with other wealthy socialites. At one such event, a friend of a family friend approached him, commenting on his beautiful, silky fur. Miro was delighted by the attention, and after a few drinks he had signed several contracts for amateur modelling. At first his parents were glad of the attention their child was receiving and were delighted by how quickly he caught the attention of many photographers. As time progressed and he didn't apply to universities, however, some animosity grew between the family. After one particularly explosive argument, Miro finally left his childhood home to live alone and pursue his passion for modelling. Delighting in his new freedom, Miro has yet to look past his current passions, and appears content to pursue appearances in fashion magazines and billboards.

fros.
fros is a recent gift to miro, given to him by one of his photographers during a modelling shoot. at first the jackelope was merely part of the shoot - it was a forest theme, and involved a few trained familiars. throughout the day miro began to form an attachment to fros, as she was particularly easy to work with and affectionate. after the shoot was over, the photographer included fros as part of miro's payment, noting how close the two had gotten. since then, fros often accompanies miro to his shoots, and even occasionally gets into a photo or two.

name.aritao strongback nicknames.strongback, alpha gender.female race.centaur birthday.10th of february 2019 zodiac.crown orientation.pansexual occupation.herd alpha partner.none colour.#718c3f song.iamx - animal impulses
Aritao, like all centaurs, was born with only one name. And, like all centaurs, she wished nothing more than prove herself to earn her second name. Aritao's herd was relatively large for the area, composing of over fifty adult centaurs and a handful of children. She was privileged to have other foals her age to play with and compete against, all of them hoping to establish themselves as the strongest child. By the time she was a teenager, Aritao had already become a shining light amongst her herd. She was strong, capable and charismatic, a dangerous combination. She kept waiting to catch the attention of the alpha - Manu Swifthoof - hoping they would attend to her and teach her the skills necessary to lead her own herd one day. As the years passed, however, Manu grew more cold and gave far more attention and praise to other children. Despite feeling slighted and ashamed, Aritao was determined to work even harder and prove herself to her herd and its leader.
Aritao was one of the youngest youths to lead a hunting party, and together with two other established warriors, they set out towards the dangerous tundra, deep behind their forests. There were rumours of large beasts dwelling in the mountains and snowfields, but none of her plain-dwelling herd had ever seen such creatures, dead or alive. Aritao wanted to be the first hunter to bring back the head of one of the beasts and finally prove her worth as a skilled warrior. The snow fields seemed devoid of life, and as the snow and ice whipped up around them, finally a black figure could be seen. They marched forward, gripping themselves against the cold winds, such a different climate than that of the beautiful plains. When the creature they stalked finally emerged, it was a horror to behold - a giant mammoth, with tusks longer than their bodies. It was a gruelling few hours to take down the beast, and during the fight her two herd-mates had suffered severe injuries. Clutching at her own wounds, Aritao made a sling to drag back the creature's head and pelt. After some butchering, she slung her herd-mates over her back and started the long journey home.
It took days to bring back not only the carcass, but the still-wounded warriors. When Aritao finally stumbled into camp, she was greeted with a mighty cheer, her herd chanting: "Strongback, Strongback". Thus she earned her second name, at the impressive age of seventeen - one of the youngest centaurs to gain a second name in the herd's history. She approached Manu Swifthoof and wordlessly offered him a tusk of the great beast. The alpha looked upon it with a blank face, before turning away, rejecting her offering. The herd grew silent and stunned, and rumours began to spread of the vanity and envy in their alpha's eyes. Aritao was heartbroken, but she was resolved to continue growing as a warrior and to keep honing her skills. It was some years later when she was approached by the herd's newest shaman, Pakaha Lightspirit. Aritao held the shaman in high esteem, as all youths did, awed by their seemingly-unobtainable ability to commune with spirits. Over a few months the two grew close as Pakaha offered suggestions to improve her demeanour and efficiency in hunts.
One day, Aritao confronted Pakaha, wanting to know why he was giving her such assistance. After a few moments of silence, the shaman admitted that he was grooming Aritao as he had seen the weakness developing in their alpha. She was shocked at first, but after some discussion and contemplation, she realised that Manu was holding back her herd. Aritao confronted Swifthoof, proclaiming that while he had been an inspirational and strong leader, he was no longer best suited for the position. Manu grew furious, attempting to strike Aritao down, and so began their conflict. It lasted only a few minutes, as while Manu had grown content in his position and hunting with birds, Aritao had been training her mind and body. It was a convincing victory, but Manu refused to concede. He demanded that the herd restrain Aritao and exile her for her arrogance, but no one made a movement - Pakaha had been sowing the seeds for Aritao's position, subtly influencing the herd to view her as a leader despite her age. Shamed and angry, Manu had just enough dignity left to leave on his own accord, with a few of his closest warriors leaving with him.
Aritao's transition into leadership felt natural, and she quickly became a beloved and trusted alpha. With Pakah's guidance, her temper had cooled and she was able to harness her natural charisma and protective nature. She served as a strong and capable alpha for many years, always leading from the front and providing for her herd as best she could, all while encouraging the growth and development of other potential leaders - she wasn't going to stifle others as Manu had done to her. Her herd was thriving and gaining influence throughout the plains, and all seemed perfect until one unpredictable day. Strange creatures arrived in their land, leaving objects and footprints wherever they went, poking and prodding as they roamed. Aritao observed the creatures for some time, but after seeing them sustain injuries from the local flora, she quickly ordered their capture. They sat in a cage for weeks, mewling and screaming at them. Aritao was shocked by their clothing, their equipment and even their words. It was clear they weren't mere animals, but they were still invaders.
Aritao was struggling to decide what to do with these creatures when yet more arrived, a far more significant number than the first time. She bid her herd to simply observe for some time, but as they began to run through their forests and trigger their traps, Aritao hastily ordered her hunters to gather them up and cage them. Pakaha had been communicating with their captives - despite Aritao's wishes - and had reached the conclusion that they were other races, not other species. Stubbornly, Aritao ignored his advice, believing that these creatures were nothing more than potential threats that should be eliminated to be done with it. Still, as doubts plagued her mind and the creatures kept shouting at her, Aritao eventually came to the same conclusion as her shaman. She couldn't kill these captured people, but if she freed them she'd be going against centuries of alpha wisdom, defying the mentality that any other creatures exist to serve the needs of centaurs and nothing more. After levels of introspection Aritao had never had to do before - along with the advice ever-present from her dearest friend Pakaha - the alpha finally decided to free the captives. After a few warnings on how other herds may not be so generous, she sent them on their way, but the consequences of that event will change centaurs forever. She quickly sent out messages to the other herds, informing them that the rest of the world had finally caught up and, embarrassingly, surpassed them in many ways. Aritao has remained in the Lost Lands to lead her herd, but every few days one of her own will leave to explore the new world that's been opened up to them. Time will tell if Aritao decides to explore these new lands for herself, or stay mired in tradition.

pakaha lightspirit aritao's trusted friend and lead shaman of her herd, pakaha is partially responsible for aritao even achieving the title of alpha so early. aritao sees her shaman as an invaluable guide and often listens to his advice without question. while aritao's stubbornness causes them to occasionally butt heads, there is no one aritao trusts or values more than pakaha - she would even follow him to the world below if he asked it.
tuhinga snowfall one of aritao's best hunters, snowfall is famed amongst the herd for her stealth and brutal efficiency. aritao considers snowfall her right-hand, and would trust no one more to lead dangerous hunts and expeditions into enemy territory. aritao has had conflicted feelings about tuhinga in the past and has often considered courting her, but has always resisted, not wanting to damage the relationship they have as mentor and student. snowfall is the only individual aritao believes could best her on a hunt, despite her relatively young years.
alarei bloodbane the deadly poisoner and charming hunter, alarei is one of aritao's most indispensable herd members. aritao has never encouraged nor participated in the use of poison, but she cannot deny the effectiveness of bloodbane's methods. while she rarely hunts in the same party as alarei, aritao respects the skill of her craft and her dedication to strengthening the herd.
nyree a young centaur fit to burst with potential, nyree has caught the eye of aritao. at first the alpha was worried about the relatively fragile foal, but as she grew older nyree sought the apprenticeship of pakaha. almost immediately, aritao took on a cold yet motherly approach to nyree, eager to see her learn under her trusted shaman. while aritao is somewhat concerned by the lack of her physical strength, she has high hopes for the promising youth.

history
Kuma's parents owned the farm that once belonged to Kuma's grandmother, and her father before her, and his mother before him and- well, so on. Kuma's mothers met at a local market where they became quick competitors, one selling fresh fruit and the other marketing their knitted wares. After a long day of feuding, they bought one another a drink and, well, the rest is history - and Kuma. Kuma is the middle child of seven and, alongside her siblings, parents, grandparents and cousins, she had to bumble her way through a busy farmstead as a child. Her family prides itself on the magic they enchant their tools and machinery with, producing some of the best quality items in the area. Their talents are almost as desirable as their goods; farmers of other races often hire Kuma's family enchanters to improve their own possessions. Kuma was less magically inclined than the rest of her family, however, and spent almost all of her time with the various livestock and domesticated animals around the farm. When she was a small child, her aunt gave her two siblings of her prized vespercat's litter - Kuma named them Mochi and Bocky, after the rare treats her mother brought home from the big city.
Like most children who live on a farm, Kuma was home-schooled alongside her siblings and cousins. They weren't taught much beyond practical skills and magic, but her grandmother was determined to teach the children mathematics and literature. Most of the kids weren't remotely interested in the subjects they deemed less useful - how do equations and writing help you sow and harvest crops? Kuma seemed to have a natural knack for numbers however, much to her grandmother's delight. She quickly began spending most of her time reading and practising her sums, despite the taunting she received from her siblings. When she finally became an adult, it was clear she had become disenchanted with the idea of a farming life, and her mothers couldn't help but notice how melancholy she had become. After a long, serious conversation, they finally gave her a life-changing opportunity - take a small sum of their savings and attend college in Asphodel. Kuma was shocked by the suggestion, but their parents believed her destiny wasn't on the farm, and they wanted to see her realise her potential. With tears in her eyes, Kuma gratefully accepted their offer and rode for the city the very next day.
Without any formal education, Kuma knew she couldn't get into any of the fancy universities, but she was more than happy to attend community college. Of course, it all suddenly seemed so hasty; she didn't know what she wanted to do, let alone what to study to get there. During her orientation week she was given an aptitude test, and to her delighted surprise she seemed to be best suited for business. She worked hard during her time at college, always with her loyal study buddies Mochi and Bocky. To pay for food and rent, she took up part-time work at one of the cafes on campus, delighting the customers with her delicious coffees and delicate foam-art. By the time she graduated, it was clear what she wanted to do - open her own cafe and become a business owner, just like her mothers. Considering her near-obsession with a certain familiar, it didn't take long for her to decide on a name - Kuma's Kitties. After the initial business boom from her grand opening, Kuma grew worried about her cafe, remembering that she was taught in college that most new businesses fail within a year. She needed to fill a need and excel in a niche market, and one day she was inspired as she sat staring at her darling familiars. Quickly she re-branded her business, and now Kuma runs one of the most successful vespercat cafes in town, where you can stop for a delicious drink while surrounded by friendly familiars. It's a dream come true for Kuma, and she hopes to one day expand her business and repay her parents tenfold for the beginning they gave her.
familiars
mochi.
mochi is one of the many vespercats found in kuma's cafe, but he is particularly special. along with his sister, bocky, mochi is the first familiar kuma ever owned. the siblings have been with kuma through her entire journey and gave her the inspiration to open her vespercat cafe. mochi is more brooding than his sister, and has always been a bit more aloof. he has a knack for noticing when kuma is feeling down and coming to her side at the perfect moment, curling up in her lap and providing much needed comfort. his affinity for the emotions of others has made him popular in the cafe for anyone feeling down and out; just one cuddle with mochi can elevate anyone's spirits.
bocky.
bocky is one of the many vespercats found in kuma's cafe, but she is particularly special. along with her brother, mochi, bocky is the first familiar kuma ever owned. the siblings have been with kuma through her entire journey and gave her the inspiration to open her vespercat cafe. bocky has always been friendly to everyone she encounters, immediately trying to rub against anyone's leg and purr for pats. her soft, fluffy coat seems to repel any dirt that may come near it, but she is still always up for a pampering. bocky loves nothing more than sitting on one's lap to have her fur brushed and is even willing to be dressed up in accessories and familiar clothing.
dango.
kuma adopted dango while she was studying at community college. while she adored mochi and bocky, kuma felt the need to play with a kitten once more, and quickly filled the void after a brief trip to the local familiar adoption centre. dango was mischievous from the moment she brought him home, but fortunately for the young vespercat kuma found his antics more amusing than annoying. knocking over glasses, swiping at lamps and attacking houseplants seemed to be dango's favourite hobbies as a kitten, and kuma was worried he'd never grow out of it. she was hesitant to bring him to her cafe at first, but dango has proven to be surprisingly well-behaved when he's on the clock. dango is a nuisance towards customers, however, as he is often found begging for food or stealing scraps when no one is looking.
konpeito.
when kuma first transformed her business into a vespercat cafe, she asked the local adoption centres if she could use their vespercats. this helped both parties, as it gave her the attractions she needed while also advertising the vespercats for adoption. she has seen quite a few of the friendly felines come and go, but it didn't take long for her to adopt konpeito for herself. the pink vespercat is one of the most well-behaved familiars kuma has ever seen, and while she can be slightly aloof, her piercing gaze and photographic poses make her a huge hit in the cafe. it took a few months for konpeito to warm up to kuma, but now she truly is one of the family.

with more variety than the rainbow reflected in the fountain i'll be pulled even more by you who draws out my love
Xari grew up as an only child, and he often thanked the gods for that - no one else should have to endure what he did. His parents were both victims to substance abuse and had short tempers, a terrible combination in anyone, let alone someone responsible for a child. Xari quickly learnt to be silent and stealthy in his household, lest he incur the wrath of his hateful parents, both of them eager to take out their hatred for one another on their child. Xari often wondered why his parents had imbued at all considering their loathing for each other, but it was hard to look for logic in such broken minds. The child had no choice but to suffer silently, wishing each day would simply end so that the next could begin. Having come from such a dark place, Xari coveted anything he saw as pure and pretty - flowers, cute animals and, most of all, desserts. His family barely ate enough food to survive, but nothing brought Xari more joy than when he managed to get his hands on a sweet snack. His favourite of all was ice cream, and Xari firmly believed that ice cream came straight from the gods themselves, as surely no mortal could make something so perfect. Every time he had a fleeting moment of joy, he would treasure the memory to get him through the rest of his childhood.
Xari's parents refused to let him attend any school, believing he'd get 'ideas' and abandon them. Inevitably, they were correct. After years of abuse and neglect, Xari was finally offered an escape. Very rarely, when he was feeling particularly courageous, Xari would sneak out to visit a local park. The trees were mostly dead and the playground was rusted, but Xari could spend hours imagining he lived on a whole other planet. One day, he was snapped out of his daydream by a hybrid greeting him. He froze immediately, assuming they were going to punish him for leaving his home. It took a long time for the woman to coax any words from Xari, and she was mortified when she discovered the child's condition. She quickly revealed that she was a teacher at a local community college, and that she was determined to bring him back to Asphodel Academy to be properly raised. Xari hastily declined, fearing what his parents would do to him if he should run away. The teacher looked at him grimly, before placing a comforting shoulder on his shoulder. No one would hurt him again, she promised. So began Xari's new life, suddenly thrown into a world of other children and strange caregivers. He occasionally attracted the attention of bullies due to his shy demeanour and obvious poverty, but even that seemed like a dream compared to his old life. The hybrid who found him often heard him crying at night, but he assured her he wasn't sad, he was just scared of waking up.
Terrified of being like his parents, Xari grew up to be a loving and kind youth, avoiding conflict as much as he could. He graduated the Academy with impressive grades considering his background, and didn't hesitate on his next step. He surprised his teachers by going to Asterion - they assumed he'd go to Leviathan due to his inclination towards magic, but Xari was determined. After years of hard work and still living on campus, the young man graduated with a major in chemistry; he was going to become the most wonderful thing he could think of, an ice cream maker. He spent all the money he had earned from working part time to buy a tiny shop, and within a few months he'd established his now ice cream parlour: Sunny Spoons. Now Xari spends his days creating new and wonderful ice cream flavours and bringing joy to everyone who visits his store, using emotionally charged magic to give them uniquely delicious flavours. Of course, some part of Xari tugs him towards the club scene, although he currently only goes to roof top bars or cutely themed clubs. Under all his joy and sweetness, Xari is still haunted by the idea of his parents coming back for him, and will never find peace until he knows they can never touch him again.
familiars
vanilla bean.
xari found vanilla bean abandoned in a gutter when he was living in downtown asphodel. fearful to bring him back to his family, he'd sneak out to sacrifice his own meals for vanilla bean so he could grow strong. when it rained, xari would give the spectrefox one of his few items of clothing to protect him, often resulting in swift punishment from his parents. when xari escaped his home, the first thing he did was find vanilla bean and take him with him - the two have been inseparable ever since; vanilla bean is even the face of sunny spoons! now that xari is making money and living comfortably, he can afford to give his best friend top quality food and even boutique familiar accessories.

missy the hybrid who found him in the park, xari believes missy must be an angel sent by the gods. after a few years at the academy, missy revealed to xari she had seen him in the park a few times before she spoke to him, trying to figure out why he was always there alone. missy is the reason xari has his current life, and he shudders to think where - or what - he'd be without her. of course, the teacher is far more modest than that, and is confident that xari would have always achieved his dreams. missy has become one of xari's most frequent customers, and he has even named a flavour after her - missy magic (it tastes like bubblegum and cupcakes).
