They won! Elated, Shadiya clapped her hands. This was amazing! But her heart seemed to stop as she noticed her friend's gaze. What was wrong? As they took the money the girl just blinked slowly. "What do you mean?" Why was it that they could just take the winnings?
Not that she minded if they needed the money...
But the way they took it was so rude and awful. Were they truly friends? Shade's gaze glimmered with tears before she turned her head away. All these weird visions just kept making her doubt herself and she was scared. Was this trying to show her something that she would have never noticed before?
Before the thought could continue the room twisted away. The next thing Shadiya knew she was staring at a janarim. "Oh!" Bouncing back on her heel the Oban glanced at the beasts she had been familiar with. Her family had owned a few and normally they were much nicer than these...yet she had talked her friend into trying to train them. Wouldn't they just make wonderful traveling companions?
Hands reaching out Shadiya began her attempt to calm the janarim. In what felt like forever the girl was about to call it quits when the praises began. Her friend had managed to do it? A mix of joy and envy swelled up in her chest. She should have been happier, but it was just like she was abandoned. Why couldn't she do it as well? Was she truly that awful at things? She had wasted so much time trying to do this as well...
Still, shouldn't she be happy for her friend? It wasn't like she could hate him for doing his best. Shoving against the gut wrenching feeling Shadiya offered him a small smile as the janarim and rider moved past. He had earned it after all so why be so selfish?

Edathe HP - 13 (-0) = 13!
Edathe couldn't believe her eyes! She won! She gasped and cheered with the crowd. Amazing! She clapped her hands together but just as soon as she did the crowd was gone and she was in... a training field? It was unusual, she had seen the place before at least a hundred times waiting for Nuri to train, or to be finished training, but she wasn't used to being in the center. And she wasn't alone.
She watched and remembered what it was she was there for, wanting so badly to ride the janarim. But her partner did it first.
At first she pouted, her drive crushed. Why would she want to keep going? But she knew that her partner had done a good job. She needed to cheer for them, to help them feel good.

Vaena HP - 9 (-0) = 9!
The ball stopped rolling and Vaena smirked. She had won the jackpot. The crowd around her cheered but just as soon as they all started up the roar disappeared and was replaced by the roar of a janarim. She was in a training grounds.
She frowned. She knew she had been training but didn't know why. She had a partner. And she felt the determination even without remembering the specifics, she had to do this. Her partner managed it first and her instant reactions kicked in.
She was angry.
She refused to talk to the person, her drive ever stronger. She would do this. She would make it work.

Mirin HP - 3 (-0) = 3!
The ball stopped and Mirin cheered with the crowd. Yes! She had won! She grinned and hugged her friend, but before she could let go he was gone.
In place of the smokey room was now a breezy training grounds. Mirin looked around confused, but she quickly caught on. Riding a janarim. She rolled up her sleeve and wiggled her nose. Yeah, she would do this.
But her partner did it first. She instantly flared up. No, she was the one to come up with this, she would do it, and without their help. Screw that.

Xilarn Post: 6 HP: 19
Whether he was participating or not, the game was still exciting. It always was. Though, he had to admit that sitting out didn't have quite the same thrill. Interesting as it was to see everyone else shouting encouragement to the rolling orb, it wasn't as heart-pounding, win-or-lose, life-or-death as it could've been. Maybe he should've joined in. It never hurt so long as he remained reasonable and didn't go overboard. The chance of that was surely unlikely here, regardless. But the time for that had passed. The ball was rolling, bets were off, and Janella was clutching to and bouncing against his arm.
When the ball stilled, she had even more right to be. She hollered, loudly, in her excitement and shook him with all the strength she could muster. Enough to make Xilarn complain that she'd make him dizzy if she didn't control herself. He said it with a smile, though. Because as much money as she'd haphazardly thrown away in the past, she was due a win.
With all the cheering and jostling and almost perturbing amount of stranger-snogging coming from Janella to whoever she could reach, Xil decided it was probably in his best interest to slip out before he became privy to something he didn't have any great interest in. The world seemed to agree with him.
For once.
It took... probably too long to come to any sound conclusion as to where he was now. It was familiar, but only vaguely so. The air was warm, windy, and there was solid, packed clay beneath his feet, and-
"Tc-chhh! Isn't Daia supposed to be taking care of you today? I don't have time for your silly games." His older brother, Cether hadn't ever been especially delightful. Not as a young man, not as a teen, and certainly not- well, he couldn't have been older than eleven here. Skinny, sneering, displeased. Still taller than Xil.
If that was anything to go off, than he was six years, himself. Small, untrained, decidedly not skinny, and only completely unfamiliar with any aspect of physical training. The words were out of his mouth before he gave them proper thought. "Mother said since you failed your history lessons, you gotta listen to me!"
"She didn't-"
"She did too!" He asserted immediately. "And I wanna learn the same stuff your tutors are teaching you," Xilarn demanded adamantly, huffing loudly and crossing his arms and shooting the older boy a challenging look.
Cether laughed. Outright howled in amusement at the declaration. Xil glanced to the ground. "You can't. You're too small and too weak. Only strong, brave warriors ride janarim into battle. They're wild beast, vicious predators, and they aren't going to listen to you. But maybe if you're real good and stay quiet, we can find you a nice, even-tempered quhar to plod along with."
"Well, I can ride a janarim." It became obvious within only a handful of moments after mounting one of the beasts that he could not. He could scarcely get on one without aid. The thing snapped at him, refused to move, dropped to the ground and tried to roll on top of him. There was an annoying pang in the back of his mind (that he understood he shouldn't have at this age) that he did know full well and good how to ride. He'd done it before, so many times, with Gadot, and he should. Know. It didn't matter that they weren't the same species. It was the same practice. The same handling.
Cether, of course, had it easier, practiced as he apparently was. He galloped circles around his younger brother laughing and jeering and helpfully pointing out that he'd 'told him so.'

I CHOOSE CHOICE B
Akiyal Post: 6 HP: 3
Ha!
Was he good, or was. He. Good?
As the ball landed somewhere that was apparently in his favor, Akiyal couldn't help but break into a stupidly broad grin. Yes, of course, he won a game he knew nothing about. He was extremely talented in all aspects of life and the gods clearly favored him. That, or they favored Kan, who'd actually done him the service of throwing his money on the table. But that seemed irrelevant. It didn't merit any actual attention brought to it.
And since Kan himself didn't see fit to bring it up, Aki didn't either. Instead, he was rewarded with arms around his waist, chest pressed to his back, and the smaller male's- was he exaggerating how much smaller than him Kan actually was? It never seemed like quite as much as it did now, but regardless- lips between his shoulders. "Does that mean drinks are on you, Ah-kee-yal?
Well, that sounded fair and reasonable. He had only a little more experience with drink than with gambling, but they weren't bad experiences by any stretch of the word. He scoffed and turned, smirk settling in place. "I thought you said you worked here. You can't drink on the job." When he moved to slide out of Kan's hold, he was met with resistance. A glance to the other's blue eyes revealed that it was, for some reason, angry resistance. "You're going to push too far and too hard and you'll regret it."
Akiyal blinked. When Kan shoved him, Aki fumbled hastily for balance, trying to catch his feet under him and flailing to catch anything he could grab. To no avail. When he blinked open his eyes, he was on his back, in the grass, staring up at a clear blue sky.
A face invaded his vision, and Aki lurched away from it in terror. He'd never seen a janarim before in his life, but his mind likened it immediately to a hairless, wingless raptrix, a beast he was familiar with. And gods above, such a creature was more hideous than dangerous. Wrinkled and grey and a very full mouth of fangs, but otherwise, nothing worth being intimidated over.
He rolled away from the absurd creature and got to his knees, peering around until he spotted another of the creatures. And a girl atop it.
Minali was the first person he'd ever had a crush on. She wasn't especially charming, not particularly beautiful, but she was bold, daring, and familiar with and good at more things than Aki cared to count. He liked her because he wanted that. Still wanted it. And in some ways, riding this weird thing, she did look beautiful and very... womanly, which he suspected was a compliment. She trotted up to him.
"Are you going to try again?"
Again? He didn't precisely remember- Well, now that she mentioned it, maybe he did remember having this idea. More importantly, maybe he remembered getting on this ugly thing, feeling its gross, hairless body beneath his hands and legs, and then thinking better of the whole idea. Minali was good at it because of course she was, but all-in-all, maybe he wasn't as desperate to be better than her at something as he'd originally thought.
"Y'know, I think I'll pass this time around."

Sins and Virtues CYOA Wrath
|| IC ||
|| Result A ||
You refuse to give up, even if it’s just for the satisfaction of beating your partner at something and getting some attention. You train for what feels like such a long time, but you manage to get it. You can finally ride the janarim, and not just ride it, but near master it. You not only managed to do it, but you blew your partner and their novice skill level out of the water. You grin, your trainer finally paying you the praise you deserve.
You receive -0 to health!
|| Result B ||
You know it’s not their fault for being better at something than you, and you are determined to not hold it against them. You pat your partner on the back, congratulating them, but your drive is gone. You don’t really have a desire to learn the skill anymore… maybe another time you can try… if you ever feel up to it. But at least your partner is happy.
You receive -2 to health!
|| Result C ||
You can’t really stand to look at your partner anymore, not knowing that they got all the reward for something that should have been you. You can feel your frustrations growing and you know that you won’t be training with them anymore either, you feel like you might as well just forget about riding a janarim altogether. It was a dumb idea anyways.
You receive -4 to health!
The faces of your trainer and partner start to distort and blend and eventually change shape, the janarim crying out before just disappearing completely, your surroundings slowly turning into madness around you. You’re in the middle of a battlefield, and you are fighting your way across your opponents.
You cut through the crowd, working your way deeper and deeper into the fight until suddenly you’re faced with someone familiar. You care about them deeply, but they’re prepared for battle and your anger toward all of your opponents is fierce in your blood and near overwhelming. You stop in your stride, knowing what your options are, but the look in their eyes tells you they’re not stopping, they’re going to come right for you, and you realize that they don’t even recognize you in this moment.
|| OOC || ||. Pick one of the options below and respond to the prompt reflecting your character's decision. ||. Remember, your actions could result in success, or damage to your character's health! ||. This round ends April 10th! ||. If you have any questions, please post them in the Events FAQ Thread.
|| Choice 1 ||
They come at you, ready to strike you first, and you can tell that they don’t know who you are and won’t stop. You’re enraged with the battle and will do whatever it takes to subdue them, they will not land a blow on you. You grip your weapon and come at them with anger.
Post the following form in the thread to show you have selected this choice, and feel free to roleplay a response as well.

Hijil 17 hp
The dream shifted and changed. The berries were gone - she had won so much, and now they were taken, and it didn't matter any more... it didn't matter because the world was in chaos and ruin. Blood scented the air, and steel and crystal glinted, hungry for her blood.
Hijil fought. Hijil survived. Hijil sought out familiar faces in the mire, people she needed to protect. She called their names, dared not look at the dead in the soaked ground for fear that she would find them there.
There! Someone familiar, someone who was her friend. "Rayolun!" she called out, trampling her way to him. Her old teacher, the one who had taught her how to survive so long ago. She rarely thought of him, and seeing him was... Well, it would have been joyful, if it weren't for the death she saw in his eyes.
She stepped back as he charged for her, bringing up her hands to guard her face. "Rayolun..." she begged him, as his strikes - again and again - glanced off the plates that made up her gauntlets, "Stop!" she bellowed, as the tines of his trident opened a gash in her skin, "R..." her voice stopped. She forgot how to call his name. She had forgotten so much, knew so little. She could only be silent, now, beneath his relentless attack...
The dream shifted and darted, sparkling like minnows in the water or, perhaps, like stars in the sky. Dyakida forgot about the gaming room, forgot about the events, and just let the world shimmer. She became aware of a vibration, a shivering in the world, a smell like old copper... and suddenly the darting minnows of silvery light became a lot less abstract. They were crystal armor and hard metal, part of a kaleidoscope of colors and sparks that smelled of a maelstrom of blood and anger. Dyakida recoiled - she was back in the Oban war, except she was not attending to the injured and dying, she was in the thick of it. She flinched as a blade - impossibly sharp - passed where she had been standing. Before her was a sister, a friend, their features blurred and glowing. She could only assume their markings - she had never seen them - but their face looked like it felt. But it was bared in a static snarl, fierce and angry.
A blade passed by her again - her own make. The incongruity of it all surged within her and she drew her dagger, brandishing it at the woman. "How dare you attack your own sister?!" she shouted at the alkidike, who stood silently, violently, "How dare you attack me with a weapon I made for you?!" Dyakida felt as though she was aloft with rage, and it warmed her body in ways that made her feel as though she had never stopped her blade training. Her body moved as if she was a warrior as she cut at her sister, "How dare you! I'll teach you to hurt your own! I'll teach you betrayal!" her dagger tasted blood - she could taste it too. Bitter. Salty. Metallic. "Filth! Sister Slayer!" she shrieked, diving into the battle with abandon...

Ilyra Post 6 HP: 13 (-4 for missing envy and -4 from greed round) HP
Things started to get confusing and before she knew it Ilyra was on a battle field. She didn't know what had happened lately and she just couldn't figure out how she got on the battle field. Hopefully she would wake up soon though, these rooms or whatever were so strange and not at all what she wanted to dream about. She walked through the crowd, getting more and more into the fight when again her old girlfriend was in sight. However she was possessed it seemed, angry towards her and ready to fight Ilyra.
Ilyra tried to talk her out of it, calling towards her for reasoning and asking why she wanted to fight her. Didn't they love each other?
Lasarra Post 6 HP: 9 (-4 for missing envy and -2 from greed round) HP
The dream became cloudy and as she found herself walking through a crowd Lasarra couldn't remember where she had come from. She remembered being at a betting table, but then after that it was just blank. Even though she was in a dream it was getting more and more strange.
As she walked through the battle crowd, looking for any familiar face to tell her what was going on. What battle was this? Weren't all the fighting done? When she finally saw a familiar face Lasarra went to call out for them, but they didn't look like they wanted to talk. They looked like they wanted to fight, and like they didn't even care that it was her.
As they came towards her she did nothing, knowing she would not be able to hurt someone she loved.

Volkarosh 3 HP
Volkarosh had never seen a war, but she thought this must be it.
It teemed like a tide of sweating bodies and, like a tide, Volkarosh was caught up in it. Somehow, though, as violence coursed around her, she was not afraid. She pushed through the crowd, the smells of death and dying and blood and other things, her path direct and confident. She knew where to go.
A circle of death - it was here. She pushed through to its center, and there she saw them; her mother and Ruelash. They fought, blades red and wet with blood, their faces pulled back into wild grins as they fought together.
They were where they belonged.
"Mama... Lashy..." she called. She didn't want to disturb them, but she did want them to know she was there. Her mother didn't notice - of course not. She was busy. But Lashy did. He twitched, shuddering like a puppet as he turned to look at her. His eyes were blank, ferocious like a dead predators, and he came towards her, blades gleaming, obviously a threat. He would attack her. He could kill her. He couldn't tell it was her...
But that was all right. Lashy was still in battle mode. She just needed to remind him and give him time to change paths. "Lashy..." she said softly, holding out her little hands, "Lashy, it's me."
With vague memories of being with an animal Niadra found herself somewhere she didn't really want to be. A battlefield, and not even on the edges but in the middle of it. Looking around she realized there was no where to run or hide. She had to fight as best as she could.
She thought she found solace in seeing Nyiim, hoping he would protect her, but it didn't last long because he didn't seem to know who she was. She went to run as he notched and arrow, aiming it right at her. She was confused, but there was no way she would ever fight back. Never hurt him, even if it meant getting hit herself.

Briella Post 6 HP: 16 (-4 for missing envy) HP
Briella found herself in the middle of a battlefield with no clue how she got there or what the battle was about. There didn't seem to be any two sides, just people fighting everywhere. As much as she wanted to ask what they were fighting about she was too busy defending herself to really be able to ask.
When one of her friends came out her, a sword in her hand, Briella did the only thing she knew to do in a battle, fight back. She wasn't going to die in a battle she didn't believe in, a battle she didn't even know the reasoning for. No she found fight back, even if it was a friend she was fighting.
Eleina Post 6 HP: 6 (-4 for missing envy and -2 from greed round) HP
Although battlefields weren't the most fun place to be Eleina was ready to fight. She hadn't fought well in the last fight, and although this wasn't a fight she knew about or believed in she still wanted to be able to prove herself. Prove that she could do it.
She was casting spells left and right when her mother came into view. Confused as to why her mother was even there Eleina was only more confused when her mother started to rush at her as if she wanted to fight. Eleina thought for a split second before deciding that she would fight. She wouldn't go down without a fight, even if it was her mother she had to fight.
