As much as he wanted Aita to start moving on his own Grayson made certain not to move too fast, and actually give Aita a chance to keep up with him. At the same time though... if he gave the kitten a little push, perhaps that would be better. With this sudden change of mind Grayson picked up the speed, much to his own chagrin, and didn't stop even when Aita gave a cry. The Magikit did his best to keep up, puffing out his cheeks before he tried to start running, which only led him to fall forward. He was quick to return to his paws, however, and didn't even bother to brush himself off, instead doing his best to run forward once more. When it was clear he wouldn't catch up to Grayson that way Aita jumped up, able to get three inches off the ground before he landed back down. He huffed and then tried again, this time able to lift himself a foot off the ground, and after a moment he managed to keep himself in the air. This... this was good!

► Eterna City was home to the Sinnoh region's second gym and run by a female gym leader around Yukie's own age. According to Verka, she was a grass type trainer who for her rank among the other regional gym leaders was pretty powerful considering. According to him, she was highly considered among strongest second rank gym leaders in the world, second only to Misty from the Kanto who even Yukie had heard of and to some degree respected for her reputation. Yukie's curiosity was sparked to know which of the two fem's was strongest. Given the type advantage, Yukie assumed it was Gardenia but Misty she knew wasn't a push over boosting the highest win ratio of any gym leader he knew of, nearly 4 to 1. "I think given my specialty is poison types I'd hold my own." Yukie remarked. Verka didn't seem as confident in that statement.
"You'ed need to get the Sinnoh region's first badge before you could challenge her." Verka reminded her, not that Yukie needed it but whatever. Since the day before Yukie had made an effort not to be too much of an a** hole to Verka. That little show of affection had left an impression. Yukie saw an opportunity to foster a meaningful relationship and knew well enough that being a sarcastic ill-tempered brat about everything would just push him away. "I'd beat their a** too." Yukie countered trying not to sound too snide abut it. Letting go of Verka's arm and turning on the slightly older male after jumping to be in front of him. She stood her ground in a challenging manure. Arms cross and legs spread for a firm stance. "Prove it then." Verka said calmly pushing past Yukie only to have his arms reclaimed.
Yukie had made it pretty clear at some point coming down the mountain she wanted to hold onto Verka's arm and had since refused to let him go. "Fine. Take me to that gym, but if I win I want something for the trouble." Yukie said waving a hand in the air dismissing the idea that the first gym to this region could be any trouble. Verka glances down at her and Yukie smirked back up. Verka knew better than to make a deal with the devil without covering his own a**. Yukie was too cunning and mischievous not to take advantage of a golden opportunity like this. "That depends on what you want?" Yukie lost a little of her smile as she faced forward again. Quite for a short while before speaking. "A date." Verka almost tripped over himself but Yukie acted like nothing had happened. "I want to go on an actual date." She continued looking up blushing slightly and tugging just a little harder than before on his arm. Verka didn't say anything until they came to a bench and sat down. Yukie remained standing concerned she'd maybe been to blunt. "Deal!"

Zeke descended where the street was empty, his many wings stirring up the dust on the sidewalk. Riley slid off, running one hand along her trusty bat's back. "Thanks, Zeke." She returned him to his pokeball, still missing the time when he was small enough to hang out on her shoulder. For now, Riley walked on her own. She bought a small sandwich from a shop she had visited when she first came to the city for her gym battle. That had been right after Nima and Noel were stolen. It was nice to enjoy it in a much better situation.
Riley wandered a little until she found a low wall she could sit on. With one hand she held her sandwich, and with the other she dug around in her pockets. She came up with a bunch of pokeballs and carefully put them on the wall beside her. She had caught a lot lately, but it still felt like she had a long way to go if she wanted to finish the pokedex. Those three pokemon Berrie would be sending her would be another small step to that goal. For now, though... Riley rolled three of the pokeballs with her hand, releasing three eevees. She let them play with each other in the sun while she finished her sandwich and pulled out three stones. "C'mere, guys," she mumbled, wiping her lips of any crumbs. "I have these for you." She placed the stones on the ground, letting each eevee choose which one they wanted. Luckily they were all drawn to different ones, and in a flash of light, the three evolved into joleton, vaporeon, and flareon. Riley grinned, slipping from the wall to pet each of them in their new forms. Then she put them back in their pokeballs and returned them to the PC. She turned to her little pile and starting sending them all to the pc once she was sure she had nothing more to do.
Riley came up one short. A sudden rush of fear and adrenaline made her dizzy. It hadn't been stolen, had it? Not again... Frantically, she looked on the ground. She grabbed the wall and leaned over. Riley gasped in relief when she saw the small pokeball in the grass. She must have knocked it off. She leaned over and picked it up. "Who are you, little guy?" Curious, she let out the pokemon. It was the black spinarak with the red hourglass on its back. It had looked really scary before, but actually it was kind of cute. For some reason, it reminded her of Zeke. "Hi there," Riley said, holding her hand out. The spider's jaws clicked open and shut. "Sorry for dropping you." In response, the spinarak rushed forward, climbing up her arm and around her back. Its short spider legs latched on, hanging like a backpack. "Uh. Umm. Okay..." Now it really reminded her of Zeke. It didn't feel too bad having it on her back, actually.
"Okay. I guess you can hang out there for now." Riley released Seul, figuring the absol would be able to watch her back, literally, for any trouble from their little spider friend. Seul glanced at the spinarak, and Riley swore he looked like he was raising a questioning eyebrow. "It's weird, wondering where to go next when we're back in Eterna." It felt like ages since her first visit. So much had happened. She could always go to the next gym, though now that she had Noel and Nima back, she shouldn't be as worried about getting stronger. I do want to catch Mael though. Startled by the thought, Riley realized it was true. That must be why she felt this lingering feeling that she needed to be doing something.

► "Really, I expected some sort of resistance!" Yukie remarked a little in shock. Verka hadn't even so much as argued the agreements. She expected SOME negotiations at least. Like what he'd want if she lost. Shifting her weight from one leg to the other Yukie practically held her breath in anticipation of his answer. "I don't see the point in fighting it. It's what we both wanted right?" Yukie almost jumped the gun and said something really stupid but held back just in time but was now left speechless. Verka didn't miss the chance to keep her off balance either. "Look I liked you then and I don't think anything really changed so it's only natural to want to pick back up where we left off." Verka said pushing forward as he stood back up. Yukie had to look up because he was nearly a foot taller than she was. It was a pain being so damn short, four, three was so tiny she thought in that moment. If Verka was blushing at all his darker skin tone hide it well because Yukie couldn't tell at all as he passed with little more than a smile. "Come one let's get something to eat." He said snapping Yukie out of her trance and back to reality.
Verka seemed to know the city just as he lead the last. Making several turns and skipped over a few roads until they came to a Deli. It was pretty clear he'd been here before and knew the city well. Maybe this was his home region then? Yukie wanted to prey into his past to find out but the smell of food was at that moment more important. "You do remember im a vegetarian right ?" Yukie asked looking at the lumps of packaged meat on display with disgust. Meat was a rarity reserved as a last resort need, which is why she kept jerky in her backpack, or for those super rare cravings. "I'll get you a veggie supreme." Verka said pulling Yukie away from the display by the collar of her jacket and directed her to take a seat outside. She begrudgingly obeyed his silent commands. He was probably the only person she would obey willingly. Everyone else could suck it.
Yukie took a seat openly showing her displeasure. Kicking her feet onto the table. Making a load noise as she knocked over a display flower by mistake. It silenced the general area for a moment as people stopped to look. Yukie gave one man the stink eye prompting him to pick up and leave. That pleased Yukie a little too much. Verka was at the table a second later, forcing her feet back off and almost throwing her out of her chair in the process. She caught herself but almost lunged at him before getting a massive sandwich pushed at her. She froze in that instant confused. "Temper." He said calmly. Yukie's first thought was the slap the sandwich out of his hand. Her second was how wasteful that would be. Besides it smelled amazing! "Whatever ..." Lunch was relatively quite between them until Verka attention was pulled to a young girl sat n her own save her Pokemon. Yukie following his line of sight. "If I didn't know better I'd almost think you find her cute." Yukie teased. Verka shooked his head. "She has a black Pokemon, looks almost like a smaller version of your Galvantula."
Yukie turned in her seat to get a better look curious now and sure enough there on the girls back was a black spider-like Pokemon. It had a red hourglass on its back but Galvantula didn't have any red markings? Setting her food down Yukie got up to get a better look. Verka almost choked rushing to follow. Leaving their food behind guarded only by their Backpacks. "What?" Yukie snapped. "Like I'm going to let you cause her trouble." Yukie chuckled coming into earshot of the girl. "Hey you! Turn around. I wanna see that Pokemon on your back." Yukie wasn't the sort to pull punches and being anything less than herself was insulting. To everyone else, though. She was just overly blunt and obnoxious. Verka slapped the back of her head lightly. "Some manners !" Yukie scowled at him a second before looking back to the girl. "Please Ma'am?" She said in a clearly mocking but sweet voice. Verke sighed, shrugged and turned on the spot to do a 360 having given up.

At the sound of a crash, the spinarak's grip tightened. "O-ow...hey, it's okay." Riley wasn't sure if it was frightened or just startled. "I wonder if you've ever even heard a sound like that before..." After all, it was from the forest. Riley looked, but she couldn't tell exactly what had fallen. A plate? Seul didn't seem to think there was any danger though.
"Well, I guess our next stop is Canalave City. Oh, that's close to home, too. Maybe I should visit after?" Canalave's gym specialized in steel type pokemon. So Mochi would be in her prime there. It was too bad Kuraz had left, he would have enjoyed the challenge. I'm happy for him, but...I miss him. Maybe...maybe she could evolve Vanyel into a gallade to help? Hubble would be great for it, too.
Riley was looking down at Seul as she thought, but when she realized someone was talking to her, she looked up. The voice was snappish, demanding. It reminded her, just a little, of Scarlett. Most people didn't talk so frankly, especially to a kid. "What?" Riley couldn't tell if the two people approaching her were dangerous or not. Seul was tense and alert; she gently slid her fingers onto his head. "You want to see...spinarak?" Riley giggled a little when Verka reprimanded Yukie; it made her feel better for some reason. "Sure." Riley spun, keeping Seul between her and the stranger and twisting her neck so she could still see. "I just caught it in the forest, I think it's a rare one. You know, you don't have to pretend to be polite," she said frankly. Spinning again so she was between spinarak and the stranger again, she added, "Just so long as you mean good." Riley wanted to let this stranger look, because she was excited to share this spinarak with someone who was interested. But she was wary about thievery, after Noel and Nima. "Do you like spider pokemon?"

► As Rily turned around to show off the little black bug as Yukie bent over slightly to get a better look. For a moment Yukie was awestruck by what she saw. Silently taking in the tiny black spider's appearance as her lips parted unintentionally. Without thinking, she reached out for the Pokemon but Verka quickly stopped her. Pulling her by the shoulder back. Yukie's turned with a slight snarl. "It's hard to tell what her intentions are sometimes kid." Verka said glancing between Riley and Yukie. Yukie's aggression faded fast as she smirked flipping him the bird. "I'm not that hard to read apparently." Yukie countered hinting to Verka that he'd been correct in stopping her. She'd almost made to snatch and run. "No, you're really quite predictable after a while." He said as his rebuttal. The second conversation between them quickly soured Yukie's good mood. If Verka was intent on not letting her steal the Pokemon she'd seek to have it some other way.

Riley cocked her head, trying to get a feel for these two. She had a feeling she'd dangerously underestimated the girl, since she was so short. Nothing had happened, but she had this weird feeling in her gut like something could've. She was probably just biased because of Mael; it wasn't fair to be judging others based on that one jerk. Riley decided easily she liked the guy though, he was nice. Straightforward kinda.
Seul really wished Riley would make some normal friends. Where was Huey? There was a nice boy her age. And Vanyel had seemed close to that gallade of his. Or Berrie would be good, she reminded him a little of Riley in how she cared for her pokemon. But noooo, Riley had to run into another shifty redhead.
Riley wasn't sure if she was supposed to smile or not, watching their back and forth. For some reason though, she found it funny. Hopefully the girl didn't realize the reason Riley was smiling when she turned her attention back from that guy. Apparently she loved ghost, poison, and bug types. "Oh, really? Why?" Riley sure didn't have any special love for them. "I have a crobat but I dunno if that makes me want any more poison pokemon." Actually, Riley didn't have any particular feelings about any types except not really liking bugs. "Give it up? You mean like a trade?" The spinarak's legs shuffled on her back. It crawled up and over her shoulder as if it could tell they were talking about it. "That'd be cool. I'd like if it had a trainer that was as excited about it as you are." Riley pried the bug from her shoulder and held him up. "What do you say, spinarak?" Its legs spun in the air like it was trying to crawl somewhere.
"Oh hey, I'm Riley by the way. This is Seul." She gestured with her head to her absol. At that moment one of spinarak's spinning limbs clacked against his horn. He tilted his head away, but couldn't leave Riley's side while these strangers were here.

OOC: Mhm, the holidays have pretty much drained me. Don't underestimate Yukie now. She battles using her head so a match with her is one to remember. She's not about direct confrontations but rather undermining your resolve and making victory as difficult a time consuming a goal to achieve as she can. She'll wait you into submission and step all over you as she walks away the victor XD You'll also have to excuse these two as Verka is attempting to "correct" Yukie's negative behavior to some degree.

► Yukie looked back to Riley confident in Verka's silence that so long as she didn't make any overt moves to "take" the Pokemon he wasn't going to intervene. But in truth, she'd gotten so use to just taking what she wanted that having to barter for it actually felt like more of a rush then the mad rush to escape post-theft. There was, however, the painful realization that to trade a Pokemon for a Pokemon meant losing one of her prized companions. She'd address that issue in a second though, first, she wanted to indulge of her ego a little. "Ghost, Poison, and Bug-type Pokemon just appeal to me is all. People underestimate them with painful repercussions. More often than not they can take on foes much larger than themselves and still come out the winner." Yukie said with a slightly exaggerated shrug. Her head tilted back slightly peeking up to Verka who for his part seemed content now.
Did he really just want her to "behave"? As much as Yukie wanted to do something to push his buttons for a cruel cheap laugh she thought it wiser to keep him like this if she wanted to stay on his good side later. Relaxing back to normal Yukie reached for her bag, pulling it forward and setting it on the ground. She REALLY didn't want to give up any of her Pokemon especially after all the effort she'd put into some of them or the emotional attachment gained with many of the others. Olm, for instance, might be an aggravating b*****d of a Murkrow but its taunting, insulting, and overall rude nature had begun to grow on her ... slightly. Maybe she could barter for the Spinarak with something else? "I don't think I could give up any of my Pokemon in a trade, though." Yukie admitted shuffling through the bag ignorant of Riley's introduction. Yukie came up with a few things but most of it was junk save the two incenses. One Mysterious and the other a Sweet. Yukie sighed almost ready to toss the items back in the bag due to an utter lacking in how rare they really were when Verka knelt down momentarily to take the items from her.
"Do you mind a** hole !" Yukie snapped jolting to her feet to face Verka who both towered over her and ignored her instant rage in favorite of shooting her a funny face. Yukie paused and blinked taken aback with what had just happened. "If you're going to request a trade you should also set the conditions. If you don't want to lose any of your Pokemon that's something you should say upfront. Makes you look stupid otherwise." Verka remarked adding the last part with a taunting voice. "Besides that she introduced herself and her Pokemon how about a little respect." Yukie was at a loss for words. Only a VERY select few people could command such a thing as "respect" from her. Verka asking her to return such a thing was tantamount to high treason. Somehow though him being the one to make the demand made it impossible to refuse. Was he really taking such a keen advantage of her affections? That would be insulting if it wasn't exactly the sort of thing she'd do to him. "Well?"
For the first time since childhood Yukie felt cornered and disciplined. She wanted to refuse but somewhere deep inside her, there was that twinge of fear of what was to come if she didn't obey. It took her a good second before she recovered her senses enough to act. All the while Verka held the items. Arms crossed over his chest glaring at her. Yukie felt deflated but not in a purely negative sense of the word. Verka was probably the only person she'd ever felt the fear of pushing away and that made her controllable. "Sorry about that. I'm Yukie Havick and this is Verka Stonewall." Yukie said trying to play off the sudden shift in her temperament. Verka nodded to Riley with a soft smile apparently pleased with Yukie submission. "I don't have much to offer but your welcome to these?" She said motioning to the incenses in Verka's now outstretched hands didn't bother to look back so she missed Verka's pleased expression. Yukie understood what he was playing at now. Free from Team Royales control he intended to alter her way of doing things.

Riley tilted her head, listening to what Yukie said about those three types being underestimated. Was that really true? If so, did Riley do it? Even if she did, she likely wouldn't again because she was already internalizing what Yukie had said. It was weird though, learning something from someone that was shorter than her. I wonder if...have I grown? Surprised, Riley realized she might want to measure herself the next time she visited home. It had been six months since she left, after all.
Riley shifted the spinarak to her back, trying not to watch too closely as Yukie shifted through her bag. She felt a bit awkward, especially with her introduction ignored. Her eyes glanced quickly at Verka, but he wasn't saying anything. Finally, Yukie pulled out a couple incenses. Riley perked up a bit when she saw them; those were very helpful for catching pokemon for her pokedex. She thought for a moment Verka had noticed her interest, but when he started talking it wasn't about the incense at all. Riley had the strange sensation that she didn't have anything to do with why he was saying what he was. Finally it clicked for her- that's the reason she'd been feeling odd this whole time, wasn't it! This guy, even when talking to Riley, seemed to be talking to the other girl instead. At least, that's how Riley saw it. She waited for them to finish, uncomfortable now.
Riley paused for a long moment after Yukie introduced them. "You two are weird," she finally said. Then, chuckling, "Stonewall really suits you," she told Verka. That seemed like what he'd been doing to Yukie this whole time. Now that she thought she knew who these two were and what their dynamic was, Riley felt more comfortable. "I'd actually really like those. They're really great for helping out my pokedex." Riley pulled spinarak back around to the front and held him out. "Spinarak?" It seemed okay with it. Riley put it back in its pokeball and handed it out for Yukie, taking the incense in exchange. "You know, Mister Verka, you never actually introduced yourself," she said, hiding her face as she put her new incense in her bag. When she looked up, she was smiling. "And I'm glad, Miss Yukie, that spinarak'll have a good trainer." She wasn't too worried, especially if Verka was around. Yukie obviously cared about her pokemon. "It can't be worse than last time," she mumbled, zipping up her bag and throwing it around her shoulder.
"So are you two on a journey?" she asked, curious what sort of path they were following. Somehow she felt like they weren't just doing the normal journey between the gyms. Suddenly, a question popped into her head. "Oh! Have you ever heard of someone called Mael? He's an adult, a lot older than you. He has a black gardevoir and charizard." It was a stretch, but Riley would take any clues she could get. Just because she had saved Noel and Nima and gotten Amalia's egg back from the thief didn't mean she was okay with him being out there.

Oh, I don't doubt that at a higher level it would be a tough fight ;P Riley battles very straightforwardly, so she would be very predictable. I just find the comparison funny because the older characters are more experienced but because of guild mechanics it appears otherwise xD

► Yukie wasn't sure exactly how to take being called weird. It might have been an insult she thought but it didn't feel like one with how Riley had said it. Nor did it really bother her. Riley didn't know Yukie's little secret so weird was more of an understatement really. Oddity or misfit suited her fancy better personally, to say nothing of her male counterpart. Verka himself didn't seem bothered either, infact~ "She's the weird one. Not me." He said forking a thumb at Yukie who quickly stuck her tongue out with a scrunched up face. Verka just raised an eyebrow at her as if to say "what it true" before continuing on. "Then i guess we have a deal."
" Weird is subjective." Yukie countered in defense as Verka now handed off the two incense for Riley to take allowing Yukie to take the red and white orb. It took Yukie a second to even realize the trade was happening. She'd not thought the trashy little sticks were worth anything, certainly not a Pokemon, but here she was now holding the Spinarak's ball in hand. Yukie seemed in awe of her new treasure dipping off to the side to switch her team around a little, releasing from their balls all the Pokemon she'd finally decided on. Zubat, Rattata, Spearow, Meowth, Litwick and Abra. Who she'd only thought to bring to train so it would evolve. Verka turned slightly to watch.
"I'm not overly sociable. Besides keeping her in line is more important than who I am, trust me." Verka remarked to Riley's comment about not introducing himself. Yukie was at the moment rifling through her bag for anything to give the new Spinarak who sat atop her head watching. "It takes a special sort of person to get along with us kid." Yukie said, having been taking notice of the conversation behind her. Yukie huffed closing the bag finding nothing of value to give the new bug Pokemon yet and stood back up. The Spearow Yukie had released had at some point moved from the ground to Verka's shoulders. Yukie paused to look at the bird both hand on her hips. "You're a ******** traitor Uft." The Spearow ignored the comment to clean its feathers. Verka chuckled and scratched the bird chin. "Why don't you try being nicer to him then."
The side comments would have to wait as Riley changed to topic catching both off guard. Yukie wasn't sure if she'd ever actually been a trainer. Verka, she was sure, didn't even have any Pokemon, did he? "It's a little complicated." Verka said looking to Yukie who hadn't noticed her own pained and confused expression until that very moment. "Complicated, like everything else in my life". Yukie muttered. Thankfully Riley's second questioned gave Verka a chance to keep Yukie from doing or saying something stupid, for now. "Sorry no. Iv worked with a lot of folks the past half year but I can't say I recalled names, certainly not a black Charizard or Gardevoir." Yukie shrugged having no information herself. "Iv been in a coma." She said off-handedly still stuck on the whole trainer deal. "Complicated." Verka repeated.

It was good they didn't seem put off from being called weird...Verka even sounded amused. At first the two had made Riley wary, but now she felt they just had a little bit of a different dynamic than usual. She didn't realize it, but she might kind of like them because they reminded her of Scarlett- or rather, Captain. At what point did she start meeting people like this, anyways? Maybe she should ask Kuraz if she had a weird aura or something. The thought made her giggle.
Meanwhile, Yukie was swapping around her team. It didn't take long to put the incense away, so Riley watched with interest. It made her smile to see someone who seemed so prickly like Yukie fussing over her pokemon. Pokemon are pretty great, aren't they? Riley stroked Seul's fur appreciatively.
Riley looked sideways up at Verka, wondering what he meant. Keeping Yukie in line was that important? Yukie seemed okay though; was there a chance Riley's initial instincts about her had been correct? These two were pretty mysterious, weren't they. I wish Kuraz were here to read their auras. In the past Riley would have trusted blindly. Now...well, maybe she would trust but just be a little cautious. Yukie spoke up; Riley was surprised, assuming Yukie wasn't paying attention. "Guess I'm sorta weird too, huh?" Seul snorted. He apparently thought that was funny.
Riley might have botched getting along with these two though; for some reason her question bothered them. Yukie especially, she looked...upset? Frustrated? Thoughtful? Riley couldn't place it, but even she could tell these two were touchy about it. And they hadn't seen Mael, either. "Thanks anyways." If only there were a way to figure out what he was after and where he had been, then maybe she could figure out where he was going. "I wonder if I should call Miss Jenny, maybe they found something out..." she mumbled, staring at the ground. Riley realized suddenly she had gotten lost in her thoughts. "A coma?" she repeated, mostly so she wouldn't lose the word before she could think it. Oh. Yeah, that...that sounded complicated. "Okay, so what are you doing now then?" If they didn't like talking about the past much, then maybe the present. "I'm mostly just training my pokemon myself," she said, trying to share something about herself too. "Oh! And I have a mission to look into Team Plasma! I don't think they're really here in Sinnoh though..." Maybe she should go to Unova, but Riley figured there was some value in knowing where those bad guys -weren't- hiding.

► Reaching up Yukie moved the black Spinarak from atop her head setting it on the ground at her feet where it was greeted by Kerf. the black Meowth and Ahnaak, the Abra. Both seemed only mildly interested in the new comer while the rest were focused on other things all together. Iisk, the Rattata for example, was dead set on being on Yukie's shoulder. She neither helped nor prevented it's efforts to get where it wanted to go and it eventually succeeded. "Yes Verka, what are we doing now?" Yukie demanded seeing an opportunity to capitalize on Riley's question and force Verka to reveal hi's plans.
"I'll explain later, promise." Verka responded trying not to change the topic again. Yukie wasn't convinced and kept a steady gaze on the taller males face until he relented to explain further. Verka didn't give an inch. "I don't think it's wise for you to be looking for team plasma." Yukie sighed and turned away from Verka rolling her eyes disappointed. Facing Riley Yukie gave her the once over. Yukie was trying to figure out exactly what this scrawny little brat could want with Team Plasma of all people. It made no since ... unless ...
"look here kid~" Yukie snapped loudly "~organizations like Plasma will chew you up and spit you out!" Yukie was speaking as much out of personal experience as regret. Had she just stuck with Diana all those years ago instead of rebelling life today would be so much better. "If that's what you want, go for it but you'll regret it!" Verka sensing Yukie's growing hostility's placed a gentle hand on her shoulder to calm her. Yukie instead snapped around grabbing hold and was about to snap a finger when she realized what she was doing and let go. Verka didn't even flinch to his credit.
Setting on hand on Yukie's back he directed her back towards the food they'ed left behind at the deli table. "Why don't you go finish eating?" Verka suggested. Yukie wasn't in a position to argue so she just nodded and started in that directed. "Complicated." Verka repeated again. "Yukie's been through a bit of a rough patch lately so she's emotional." Verka remarked hoping that was enough to compensate for Yukie's dramatic response. "Truth is I'm taking her to see her step sister one town over. They've not seen each other in years and she's the last living relative Yukie has but if I tell her the truth I'd have a better chance of rolling a Golem uphill." "She's a little rough around the edges but she prims over those Pokemon." Verka remarked looking back to Riley with a soft smile. "And what of yourself?" Seul watched Yukie's pokemon, and though he didn't interact with them he did relax and sit by Riley's side. Riley didn't realize how much his guarded stance had put her on edge until he dropped it. She suddenly felt just a bit more relaxed. She still frowned scrunched up her nose when Verka mentioned not going after Team Plasma. Such an adult thing to say. Just like Officer Jenny. Not like Scarlett though. Her Captain treated her and Berrie and Huey like...maybe not equals, but definitely not like kids. "I mean, it's not like I looked for them before or anything..." Yukie spoke up. She was very adamant about her not getting involved with them. Riley could understand that. The emotion behind what Yukie was saying took the edge off being told what she should or shouldn't do. "I'm not- I'm not stupid," Riley mumbled as Yukie left. "It's just, if something's happening I can't just not do anything." But Verka said Yukie had been through a lot, and Riley felt like she didn't really understand enough of how Yukie might feel. Maybe Yukie had a history with Team Plasma or some team like them. And after everything Riley had been through herself, the distortion world and Mael, shouldn't she be more...scared? Emotional? Something? Is there something wrong with me? she thought, startled to find she didn't really feel...anything. A little more determined, maybe. The realization made her uncomfortable somehow. She wished she could understand Yukie, but how could she when she obviously hadn't been through anything like it, whatever it was? But watching Verka watch Yukie and smile, Riley thought that it couldn't be all bad. "I think you're pretty nice, mister Verka. I bet Yukie thinks so too." Riley didn't know these two very well, but she still said what she simply thought. "Maybe not when she finds out where you're going," she joked, returning Verka's smile. "I'm not really sure what I'm doing right now. I had a...goal, for a while. Now I guess just...catching pokemon to fill my pokedex. Training for the next gym. And I'm also...looking for someone." Riley wasn't sure how much about Mael she should mention- he would probably just tell her to stay away from someone dangerous like that. And then there was Captain's -Scarlett's- task, to keep an eye on Team Plasma. It was strange; Riley felt like she had so much to do, but she didn't have any sense of direction at all. Not compared to before. "I guess I just took a break so I'm kinda figuring out where to start again."

Ooh wow so they're all kind of close to each other! Aside from Yukie being short :p I'm sorry if the post feels a little disjointed, I got nauseous in the middle and had to take a nap =n=
► A warm ray of sunlight was beaming on Yukie luring her to sleep. It felt good to lay her head down, even on this metal grate table, and listen to the world around her. Moments like this had been rare the last year so she wasn't about to rush off if she didn't absolutely have to. Verka would come get her whenever he was ready to leave. Not that he seemed in any rush either. He was steadily shooting the breeze with the kid still. Yukie kept an eye on him curious as to why he'd taken such a liking to the kid who's name she hadn't bothered memorizing. Maybe it was just him being nice Yukie thought. He was like that after all. He didn't pretend to be nice he just was.
"She'll get over it." Verka said jokingly glancing at Yukie to check on her. Verka Shrugged hearing Riley wasn't any more directed with what to do next than they were. "Seems we're all a little lost." He said. "Finding a path to travel can be difficult at times and some people have an easier path to follow than others." His voice turned a little somber. Yukie was getting into some trouble with a wild Pokemon. Verka didn't seem too concerned at first but as soon as Yukie showed signs of being hurt he started in her direction calmly. "Excuse me, I need to go recuse my~" Verka paused unsure exactly what to refer to Yukie was. "~friend." He tried to recover clumsily.
Yukie was on the verge of slipping into sleep when suddenly something heavy fell on her head. The black Spinarak made an odd sound she couldn't even begin to describe as it leaped to the table to escape the threat. Yukie's other Pokemon scattered too. Ilsk was engaged in a fight even before Yukie could gather her bearings and figure out what had hit her. Holding her head she doubled over on the ground in pain hissing and scuttling out of the way. Arms raised in a defensive posture. People all around the deli patio gasped and moved aside as the battle broke out.
Verka was at Yukie's side pulling her into his arms and carrying her to safety but by now Yukie had realized to some extent what had happened. The little golden ball looking Pokemon had been chased off the deli's roof by the Zubat and landed on her head, hard! "You ok ?" Verka asked pulling her hair aside to check her scalp once he'd gotten her safely out of the risk zone. Ilsk could handle the two wild Pokemon. "I will be." Yukie said looking up to see she was practically in Verka's arms. "Put me down!" She napped blushing a deep red. "As you wish princes." Verka said glancing back to Riley smiling. No sooner had Yukie's feet touch ground than she'd tossed a poke'ball.
"I told you, I have to keep her in line." Verka said glancing to Riley laughing. Yukie, still blushing retrieved the newly captured Chingling's poke'ball. "Shut it!" She snapped loudly turning on him red in the face. She was holding the back of her head suffering the effects of a headache "That ******** hurt !" Verka didn't lose his smiled. Instead of getting upset he pulled Yukie into his arms and embraced her. Yukie didn't struggle. "Riley could I ask you to get some ice please?" Yukie wanted to pull away but there were enough people staring at them already.

Riley got the feeling that Yukie and Verka had pretty difficult paths to follow, though she didn't really have a clue what that meant. She simultaneously felt that she understood having a harder path than most and that she didn't understand at all. Riley had never really liked comparing herself to others anyways, because she usually felt worse when she did. But Yukie was probably happy right now, sleeping surrounded by her pokemon like she was. Riley smiled. "Yeah, sure." Verka had reached for the word friend, and Riley wondered what more was there. Riley was less concerned about Yukie being hurt and more concerned with how Verka was with her. Just "friends", huh? Riley thought she had figured out what was happening here in the typical all-knowing fashion of children.
Verka joked about keeping Yukie in line. "Oh yeah. Of course." She was smirking, but it was more at her thoughts that Verka was just making an excuse because he wanted to be close to Yukie. Verka seemed to hear Riley's thoughts because he swept Yukie into a hug. Riley tried to keep from blushing. She was about to suggest getting ice when Verka asked. "Yeah, sure!" Riley trotted to the front desk of the cafe, asking after some ice. They came out with a plastic bag filled with cubes and she hurried back, the bag outstretched to Yukie, though she wondered if maybe Verka would take it and hold it for her. That seemed like the kind of "friendship" these two had. "This should help cool you down," she couldn't help adding.
"That zubat was a big troublemaker," Riley said, upset because it was making zubats look bad. After all, Zeke was a very well-behaved zubat...even if he did bowl her over sometimes. "I didn't realize you could find chingling here though- they're pretty rare I think." Riley released Zeke, putting a hand out as soon as she did to keep the huge crobat from trying to get a "hug". Instead she hugged him herself, snaking her arms through his beating wings. "Hey Zeke, do you think you could go and see if there are any more of these around?" Riley asked. She got out her pokedex and showed him a picture. Zeke chittered a yes and raised into the sky, flying slowly away and using his echolocation to check the area quickly and efficiently. He swooped down on a squishy bidoof, dispatching it swiftly with a targeted sludge bomb. Riley had barely noticed he was gone before a giant bedraggled bidoof thumped to the ground in front of her. "Um. Thanks...Zeke." He chittered happily. "Well, I don't have one of these yet..." Riley captured the poor thing. She was a little surprised she hadn't actually caught a bidoof yet. "See what else you can find?" Zeke chirped and took off, rusting Riley's hair with his wing beats. Riley turned to Yukie and Verka. "He's a little over-enthusastic," she said sheepishly.
