He glanced around, a certain sense of confusion and mingled anxiety beginning to rise in Tolliver's throat. Hitch was right, there were people falling all over the place, running this way and that, and several were yelling, shouts echoing across the spacious room. He caught a glimpse of the "strange uniforms," a frown on his face.
"You're probably right," he said grimly, shifting his cane. "It looks like a bloody mess in here. I'm not sure if anyone's called the coppers, but if they haven't yet, somebody bloody well do it now, otherwise everything's shot to hell in a hand basket."
He glanced sideways at his companion, caught sight of the cigarette, and couldn't help a snort of amusement that in the midst of this mass hysteria, Hitch was needing a smoke. It was a very apt reaction, he thought.
"Need a light?" Tolliver asked, quite sincerely, the smallest smile tugging at his lips in spite of the situation around them.

Magiore Carpenter / Lieutenant Aurostibite - black mask (HP: 40)
The "but..." made him glance sideways at his companion, but Magiore was distracted by the yells and shouts of those around him. He could sense the power signatures now as they erupted into being; and the senshi were attempting to fight back, but he was not worried; the Negaverse had their orders.
They were going to do what was necessary, after all.
The young man across from him was still attempting to stand. Magiore saw him sway, and then fall back into his chair again, his eyes wide with mingled panic and fear, and Magiore pushed himself slowly to his feet, making sure to walk slowly and haltingly as though he was being affected by the tiredness as well.
"There is another room that you could hide in," he said, circling slowly around behind the other and waiting for the opportune moment to power up. His voice dropped slightly to one of cautious anxiousness. "Are you all right? You don't look particularly well, perhaps you need a little assistance in getting up?"
He thought - he thought he had seen a familiar face in the crowd, but he shook his head, trying to alleviate that, because he couldn't have possibly...

Fritz St. James / Transcendent Celsus Knight of Chronos (20 HP) { up for capture }
He felt horribly tired, but Celsus still made his way across the ballroom floor, boots clicking, his cape sweeping across his shoulders. At least now his hair was pulled back, so that he could see more properly, the glowing markings on his face starkly visible against his pale, freckled skin.
It was noisy and crowded and messy; there were Negaverse agents to the left and right, and senshi were everywhere as they attempted to combat the Chaos. Celsus felt horribly inadequate, his head spinning unpleasantly, but he could not have just sat back and let everything happen without at least attempting to do something about it.
He heaved a sigh, and kept moving, his eyes searching for anything - anyone - that needed help.

Both of them going down was too much of a coincidence for Jeanne. She still wasn't fully alert and awake, but she did stumble to Luca and reach down, squeezing her hand.
"Somethin's...really, really wrong," she said, dropping her voice. "I'm gonna power up. Meet me in Ballroom 2." She darted off as quickly as she could manage, and then foiund a private corner to power up.
When she got tot he second ballroom, she put her hands on her hips.
"HEY, NEGA BITCHES. COME GET SOME!"
They were gonna pay for messing up her date.

"I hate being right," Alistair said quietly, leaning over Lance's shoulder. He could hear the sounds of fighting, cries of henshin phrases, and was suddenly very glad he'd pulled his fiance into a rather hidden corner.
"I think it's time to power up, hmm?" He said, his voice low, as he called his pen to his hand. He whispered his henshin phrase under his breath, and then there was Tantalus.
"I'd consider keeping the mask, but at this point, I'm fairly certain it's evil." He said. His was already gone, but he lifted Lance's off his face and tossed it to the side.

Ava heard Ari calling her name and staggered to her, tossing her mask to the side as she did and practically falling into her chest. "We need to get out of here," she said, her voice soft. Nooo, no no no this wasn't happening, this magical evening could not have been ruined, nothing could be going wrong.
Except, that was obviously what was happening. And there was no way she was leaving, she was going to have to power up and fight. She had to help get people out, because there was obviously a Negaverse plot here. Only they and the Negas could drain energy, and the Mirror had never used objects that she knew of.
"We...we need to get other people out of here, before the Negaverse can...where can we go?" Ari and Ava couldn't do much, but Amytis and Chariklo...
Amytis and Chariklo could.

Dancing with Quinn was basically a dream come true. Even though she knew it couldn't last, even though she knew something was going to go terribly wrong because no Negaverse plan had ever run smoothly, she was on a dance floor in a beautiful hotel with an even more beautiful girl and they were kissing and it was magical.
But it couldn't last forever.
She could see it out of the corner of her eye - people powering up, light and dark colors both, and she leaned in close. "Get as many of your people out as you can. I'll help you, as much as I can. I love you," she said, and then, like a very short, significantly less straight Cinderella at midnight, she pulled away from her princess. Except she wasn't leaving the ball - no, she was putting on magic clothes rather than taking them off. She tucked herself into a corner, and whispered "Persephone Eternal, Make Up," and when she stepped back onto the dance floor, it was as Corrupted Eternal Sailor Persephone.

SHE LOVES YOU BUT ALAS, DUTY CALLS T___T
Kerberos had intended to leave long ago. Really, he had. But every time he tried someone blocked him - often, he suspected, another officer, because there was no way they could be so ridiculously efficient otherwise.
It was almost a relief to duck out of the min ballroom to power up, when it started going to hell, and then slip back in.
Capture, not kill. Those were orders he could absolutely live with. He would prefer to bring people in alive, as much as possible - at least then, there would be a chance to get them out.
(And he couldn't believe he was thinking that way. About there being a chance to get them out. But in the end, he didn't want to see the Negaverse's hands on anyone, not when it might mean corruption or torture.)
He was scared. But if he wanted to live through the night and not have one of his own officers execute him or something for not following orders, it was the only thing he could do.
Whatever Laney and Xanthus had been planning in attempting to stealthily try to figure out what was going on behind the scenes, that plan was soon blown quite effectively out of the water. There were distant flashes of light, screams, and the occasional odd, tinkly sounds of what they could only assume were someone's magical powers. The jig was up for somebody -- there was no reason to stay powered down anymore.
It was the work of a few seconds to find a dark stairwell, duck into it, transform, and pop out again on the next floor down as Hvergelmir, a sturdy Mars knight at her side.
They were an unlikely battle pair, which she supposed was her fault. He was a front-lines fighter by nature, she knew; her powers, on the other hand, lent themselves best to the back rank. Worse, though -- with her oath binding her at all times, she had practically no option of entering battle at all, where she'd be little more than a liability.
That either meant splitting up or reconsidering their options. Not rushing right into the fray, trying to find some other way to be just as useful.
"Look, I'm no good to you in a fight," she said, not admitting anything Kairatos didn't already know. "But we can try to get as many of these people out as we can. If they're locked in with us, they're sitting ducks -- we can at least force the front door if we have to, cover their exit."

Playing weird games of stupid stereotypes was one thing. Nerve-wracking, but Lazarus could do it. Now, though, some other . . . one of Stroud's crazy Teen Beat-reading admirers was here, and Stroud was speaking in her special creepy Schorl language again, and this was becoming some kind of magical powered thing. Lazarus could feel the panic rising in his throat.
Stroud hadn't warned him about this. She was such a -- God, he'd been so stupid, such a ******** idiot not to expect that anything involving her was probably going to involve some of her horrible ******** surprises. He should've known, he'd thought that after this long he'd been starting to get used to her endless curveballs and psychological tests, he'd thought -- God, he was such a loser. Such a stupid ******** weakling to have thought, for even a second, that he was going to be able to handle this when she'd offered it. That it would actually be something easy.
Naive, gullible piece of s**t that I apparently still am.
He found a secluded spot behind some pillars to transform into his other self -- Quartz, they were calling it -- and it -- he -- returned to his mistress's side to try and force himself through somehow -- somehow somehow ********> -- carrying out the orders she'd given him.
He was glad he hadn't had anything to eat or drink. At least there wouldn't be anything for him to throw up.
Think. Think, stupid, think. She likes it when you're clever, find something clever to do. Move your feet, stop standing there. Look useful.
Quartz picked one of the men out of the crowd, one who'd just pushed a preteen to the ground trying to get away. He punched the unfortunate gentleman in the face, then did it again a few more times till the man passed out. (Passed out. That was what he told himself had happened. He didn't want to check. He was pretty sure, anyway.) He dragged the limp body to one of the revolving doors and dumped it halfway into the doorway. It caught on the prone body and jammed.
He repeated this process four more times, till all the revolving doors were sort of gruesomely blocked -- leaving people only the two hinged doors on the sides to try and get out through. It would make filtering for the people Schorl wanted easier, bottlenecking them, he hoped.

He offered, hoping it sounded something like reassurance of her value. "We can make this work. You're the shepard, I'm the sheep dog, right?" He joked.
How many times had he insisted he was no such thing of any kind? It was a bit funny really.

"W-wait!" Luca sat up in her cot too quickly, which only made her feel dizzy all over again. She was too late to stop Jeanne from going off, leaving her in the nurse's station with the other victims. She could hear the commotion from in there; something was definitely more than slightly amiss. No matter how awful she felt, she had to get up and investigate. Slowly, unsteadily, she hauled herself up from the cot and tottered her way downstairs to ballroom 2, dodging fists and running people and possibly thrown furniture along the way. The place she chose to henshin in was different from Jeanne's, but soon Super Sailor Megrez was on the scene, and she felt around carefully for that unusual aura. Sure enough, she found it, running up to Penthesilea while puffing and panting. "G-gah... I said for you to wait! C-come on, let's kick their asses together!" The desire to kick a** was not quite as strong as usual, given how weakened she was, but it was still there.

The paths for the panicked were narrowing. She spared a glance to the doors and Lazarus thocking a body between glass. Very good, pet. Check plus.
Then her gaze caught to the sounds of leather and metal- And that over there. That. That looks like a good possibility for the 'Bull of Mars' submitted in duplicate to the Spec Ops. Unless there's a sudden glut of men running around wearing bovine blazons and epaulets. Didn't that Captain's report say that the Bull was actually Realgar?
Realgar. Practice makes perfect, on crystals or on walls.
The General leapt, flipping gracefully back to the wall above the doors before pushing off of it to ricochet jump to ceiling. A kick off the ceiling rocketted her down to come at the Mars knight from above and use him to break the momentum- elbows to dig into his trapezius and knees down the armor of his back. She hissed into his ear once it was close as blow landed, "Just go to sleep.....'Captain'."

The sight of blood drew a sharp smile from Cinnabar as her hair was released, allowing her to straighten up and stumble back as the messages began to go out to crystals in pockets. Shoving hands through her hair, she spared Stroud a middle finger.
"Some women prefer a little meat over sticks, Spindleshanks." She tossed at her before she turned away, stripping off the diamond earings that dangled against her neck and the bracelet that had wrapped her wrist. They were real, like the dress, but she had no plans to leave these bits behind. Kicking off her shoes as she went, Cinnabar strode bare foot to Elle and shoved the jewelry into her dainty gloved hands.
"Here, sweetheart. Put these in your purse for me? I owe you another date in fancy clothes." She said as she gave her a hurried kiss to the temple. "Duty calls though. Things are bound to get bloody, so you watch yourself... I'm going to go back up Schörl."
Stalking away, Cinnabar shoved her way through the crowd and slipped behind some of the fancy topiary outside the front door. It was a matter of seconds to strip the slender straps from her shoulders as she dropped her glamour and scales rippled down her back, her tail lashing once. The dress dropped down her hips and for a moment she felt wonderfully free of it before a bit of concentration called her uniform and leather wrapped around her form.
Stepping out with a feral grin, Cin tugged her fur collar straight with a rattle of chains and made for the front door, her heels rapping on the stonework. Civilians were of no interest to her and they might as well have been flies bouncing off a windsheild for all she felt them as she forced her way between fancy dresses and tailored suites to break into the lobby behind the front doors. This... this was where Cinnabar truly belonged. In the thick of things, fangs and claws bared. The orders were for capture, but that didn't mean the targets were going to go quietly. There were a lot to choose from tonight, but they would all have to go... so there was nothing for it but to simply start forward and see how many she could take before the party broke up for good.
The feel of a general to her side and Cinnabar caught Schörl as she went by, taking a moment to enjoy the sight of her vaulting off the wall to take on a mars knight who had gotten to close to the doors. And there... was that?
Yes...
"What a pleasant surprise, Glowbug!" Cinnabar laughed as she picked up into a trot that became a run, her eyes trained on the glowing figure that had followed the red. "You're mine now!"
Lowering her shoulder, she set herself to plow into the Cosmos knight, intending to take the smaller woman off her feet. A little pay back for the last time she had nearly seared the eyes out of her head.

Jaysen finally stood from the railing, stretching as she finally set to work. Iolite looked after her as she left, but neither said anything. Ducking into an empty hall, the blonde uttered her transformation phrase before Lellouch replaced Jaysen. While she was oddly fond of the dress, it was a little bit easier to move around in her fuku. Walking further down the hall Lellouch heard someone screaming in the ball room and she grinned.
Oh this was too good to be true.
Her boots clunked against the floor as she approached Penthe and wrapped her arms around the woman's neck. "Hey Red. You called?" Then she shoved her boot in the senshi's back, shoving her forward.

"One of these days... You're going to listen to me when I say 'Let's skip giant social function and sit home and watch movies all night'." He growled under his breathe. "Someday." His outfit was replaced with his fuku in a matter of a few words, and for once the entire night, he felt like he could actually breathe. "And you wonder why I like small functions.." He shook his head, grabbing Tantalus' hand. "Lets see who we can find... Maybe we can team up with someone."

Reaching for Ava, Arilee drew her in for a quick kiss, pride brimming in her sunset eyes. Jesus ********, how did she get so lucky to find the absolute perfect girlfriend?
"We could strip naked and hula right now and I doubt anyone would notice," she said. Glancing around, she pulled Ava behind a pillar that shielded them for the most part.
"Together now and quick as you can, darlin'. We have to get people out of here. And no acts of heroic sacrifice, you."
The memory of Amytis' sacrifice rose to the forefront of Arilee's mind. Whatever happened, she would not lose Ava.
"All right, baby. Power up and head for the doors. And prepare to become real unpopular amongst the NEga crowd."
Grinning a little and leaning forward to kiss Avacyn once more, Arilee powered up.
And within moments, Chariklo was ready and raring to go.
First floor, white mask- capturable disposable: HP 20 )
Tabitha was late, so very late! She arrived in a painstakingly picked out orange tea length dress. That was fine, but then there was this white mask she had to wear? That was not cool, it completely clashed with the orange and gold look she was clearly rocking.
Still Tabby had taken what was given to her and made a bee-line to the bathroom. Maybe there was something she could do with this disaster. Nothing that night could be worse then clashing like this. Well, someone wearing the same dress could be worse butt hat was tops.
In the bathroom she twirled in the mirror to be sure her spray on tan was still holding up after two days. That she was pleased with, at least. A change in make up helped but nothing really did much for the white mask. At least it seemed to make her green eyes pop. If you can't be pretty, be noticeable as her mother always told her.
What she didn't notice was the draining feeling that seemed to hit her in a wave. It was late after all, some chocolate and alcohol would have her buzzing in no time.
Finally satisfied, she opened the door to the ball and stepped into chaos. Rather then do the smart thing and dart back into the bathroom, the senshi still in civilian cloths took off along the wall going who knows where. Terrified she cursed the cat she befriend again and tried to find anywhere safe. Her transformation pin was with her, but to use it would invite a fight and that was the last thing she wanted.
Hvergelmir was tired, that that made her sluggish. It was loud, too -- the throng of people were all screaming and pushing to get out through too few doors, and she had to yell to be heard, trying to get them to exit in an orderly fashion -- and that made her inattentive. And Kairatos was being attacked, a sudden rush of a General's aura and a body falling from the sky, which made her distracted.
But most of all, Hvergelmir was caught off guard when Cinnabar attacked because, the last time she'd seen this woman, she had definitely been almost six feet of all woman, and not . . . spliced with some . . . lion - elf - fish -- monster.
Some youma. Like Bischofite.
Oh, Cinnabar, who did this to you?
This was what she was thinking as the youma-captain bashed into her and knocked her off her feet, driving her hard into a wall. What she actually said, however, was somewhere more in the ballpark of, "Meep!"
(She hadn't really had a lot of time to come up with something more eloquent while her rib cage was being assaulted by the full weight of a person being thrown at it.)
Panicked, tired, and -- as ever -- not exactly the prime of martial fitness, Hvergelmir reacted to Cinnabar's attack in what was probably the least impressive of the options on her little arsenal: she threw a punch right toward the other woman's face.

Chailee had been slow to come to but when she did she found herself in a nursing station with a handful of other people scattered about. Some were about as coherent as her while others were still very unconscious upon their make-shift beds. There were a few people milling about acting as nurses but many seemed to be rushing or just not very interested in their patients and more interested in what was going on outside of the room.
That was when Chailee became aware of the commotion going on outside of the room.
With a furrowed brow she carefully slid from her resting spot and eased her way towards the door. She leaned an ear towards it to get a better idea of what was going on before slowly easing the wooden door open. The sounds and sights that welcomed her were nearly mind-blowing and the only things she could think of was to get herself out!
She wasted no time in her escape. She slipped out the door and hurried through the lobby as fast as her feet could carry her. There were a lot of people everywhere. Many were headed to the doors while others were looking for friends or family whom they had gotten separated from. It was just complete chaos.

This was so many levels of bad idea. Her magic was not made to be around kids. She was not made to be around kids - but she had no choice, at this point. Not with Megrez and her favorite bird here. The kick to her back made her stagger forward, and then she whirled around, swinging a leg at the Corrupt.
"Megrez, start clearin' kids!" She demanded sharply, the sort of tone a commander might use on the battlefield. "I'll handle Feathers over here."

Emory stood calmly amid the increasing chaos of the ball. He'd seen a few Negaverse uniforms and had his suspicions confirmed, and was about to skulk off somewhere and transform when Natalie burst out of the medical center. He returned her smile and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Lee! I'm glad you're okay! I was worried." He of course hadn't been worried -- he knew what was going on.
"Let me go with you," Emory offered, raising his voice to be heard over the screams and shouts around them. "I don't want anything to happen to you." And he didn't, unless it was him doing it. He could almost taste her energy. "We'll find your brother. Where do you think he might be?"

The expression of surprise on the knight's face right before they collided was gratifying, whether it was for her new appearance or simply for showing up at this party at all.
Not expecting trouble, pet? You should have been.
The wall met them with force, but it brought out little more than a grunt from the Captain as most of it was absorbed by the body between her and the vertical surface. It was a shame this wasn't under better circumstances... normally, having such a shapely woman pinned under her would have been a pleasure.
Seeing a flailing fist make for her face, Cinnabar jerked her head back and took it on the cheekbone, letting it glance off in a starburst of pain. It brought a grin to her lips, a baring of fangs, and she snaked her head in close afterwards to take a deep breath.
"Hello, Beautiful. You smell delicious... got yourself a fancy little upgrade, I see. Me too, do you like it?" The Captain laughed as she pulled her arm back and drove her fist into Hvergelmir's stomach. Not too hard... she didn't want to damage her too badly.
