Cody threw his hands up defensively. "Woah, woah. Don't take offense, please. I'm just going off what you told me. I just hope you know what you're getting into better than we do, because honestly, none of us have a clue, especially after we were thrown for a loop last night," he explained. He didn't mean to sound offensive. Realistically, though, he didn't read Archie as one to hire a pretty face. There had to be something that she wasn't telling. Then again, who was he to talk about secrets. No one was really comfortable with anyone else yet, and understandably so. Other than the 20 or so minutes he had seen each member pop in for, no one had really stuck around to get to know one another. They all seemed more interested in figuring out their own purpose for being here than actually interacting with their teammates.

Abigail allowed herself to leave her offensive mode, becoming visibly more receptive to ideas and conversation. "Sorry, I just get defensive sometimes. But I promise, you can count on me to be there when times get tough. I ain't leavin'!" She gave a goofy grin and a confident thumbs-up, as if performing some ancient gang ritual that concluded her rite of passage.
"So what exactly happened last night? I heard briefly about it on the news, but not the details." Of course, Abigail's ship hadn't gotten in until the day after the big hoorah had gone on. However, that did mean that her face was not currently plastered on every news channel, which was a nice relief.

Corphish eyed the Squirtle sticking it's tongue out at him. Corphish then mimicked the Squirtle, sticking his own tongue out at him.

Cody took a deep breath, allowing him to stall for a second to think of a good way to answer her question. "What exactly did you hear on the news?" He wasn't sure if it was necessarily his place to explain the semantics of it all, but he would do his best based on what she already knew.

Allen sighed back into existence, and looked over to the girl. He was curious to see how much she would know.

Squirtle was surprised that the Corphish had actually repeated his motions. So, to test the interest that this Corphish could get out of him, Squirtle started wiggling his butt in the air in a flashy motion.
Abigail shrugged her shoulders. "Not much. Something about a chase, some cop cars getting pummeled. It looked pretty serious." She didn't want to admit that she actually couldn't wait to take part in such a mission; the excitement and thrill was so close, she could taste it.

Cody snapped awake, unaware of his surroundings. The room was dark, but oddly familiar. He felt around his immediate extremities, and could hear Axew still breathing softly into his ear as he slept and feel Poochy's emanating warmth on his lap. Slowly, it all came back to him. The boy was still sitting in the same armchair he had been in last night. There was a conversation, a new girl, something about Sunday's mission, but it was a blur in his half-asleep state.
He pulled Poochy's pokeball from his belt slowly, trying not to wake the dog pokemon as he returned him to his ball and pulled Axew gently off his shoulder. He picked his backpack up off the ground next to the chair where he had left it the night before and threw it over his shoulder before cradling the baby dragon pokemon in his arms as he stumbled his way down a dark corridor, illumnated only by the back-lit sign above the entrance to the hall that read "dormitories". The hall was pitch black, and he felt his way down, listening for sounds of snoring or heavy breathing coming from each room until he couldn't hear them anymore.
He picked a door and turned the knob, only imagining what could be inside. Best case scenario: an empty room with a bed and a dresser he could put his things in before heading back to sleep. Worst case scenario: he stumbles sleepily into someone's bedroom, freaking them out, potentially getting the crap kicked out of him, and ruins his pretty much non-existent relationship with the group he just joined.
What's the worst that could happen? he asked himself, not caring much for consequences. He simply longed for a bed to lay his head down for a few more hours. The door creaked open agonizingly slowly, and he peered his head inside, whispering a few short hellos for confirmation. With no response, he made his way into the room, shutting the door behind him. He could made out the subtle shapes of a bed, a small end table on the opposite wall, and a lamp from the dim light provided by what seemed to be a clock radio sitting on top of the end table. Cody set his pokemon down softly onto the bed and threw his backpack on the floor, evening it out to create a makeshift bed for Axew until he could find something better. The boy picked the dragon up again from his curled up position on the bed and set him down gently onto his new bed before crawling into his own and laying his head down on, at the time, seemed to be the softest, most inviting pillow he had ever slept on. Instantly, he was out.

Archie wanders into the common room from down the hallway. He stares around intently, his stance seeming to demand attention and respect as well as intimidate.

Cody strolled into the common room, Axew and Poochy following in suit right behind him. "Wow, this place seems like it has been dead all day," he commented, looking around. "Where is everyone...?"

Abigail peered into the common room, Squirtle on her shoulder. "Anyone home?" She asked quietly as they made their way into the room.

Cody plopped down on the same armchair he fell asleep in the night before. From his location, a pillar was blocking the view between Abi and him. "Nope," he responded to her question, picking Poochyena up and placing the pokemon on his lap. He always felt like an evil genius with his pet sitting on his lap, stroking his fur as he talked.

Abigail jumped when she heard the voice; she didn't see anyone in the room from where she was standing. After craning her neck to see around the pillar in front of her, though, she realized that Cody was actually there. "I suppose you think you're overly clever..." She squinted at him. "Tsk tsk."

Abigail scouted out an open spot on one of the seats in the room, sitting down and making herself comfortable. Squirtle got himself comfortable in the seat beside her, withdrawing into his shell. "I'm alright; I just finished getting my stuff packed in my dorm. I realized that it doesn't really look like much of a room yet; I didn't bring any decorations or anything." All her room had was the basics; covers for her bed, an alarm clock, her shampoo and soap, etc. Besides that, the walls and floors were bare and looked awfully empty. "How're you?"

Cody gave her a warm smile as she sat down across from him and looked to Squirtle as it retracted into its shell. "Fortunately, it's not like you're off to college," he replied. He thought it weird that she expected her new room to be pretty or something. "I'm doing well. I just got around to picking a room last night. Anything is better than falling asleep against a wall or in an uncomfortable armchair," he laughed, looking over to Squirtle who was still in his shell. "Shy?"
