- Fragments looked like floating orbs of light in crystal shapes. They are slightly tiny, and unobtrusive, but also evasive. Picking up one requires some work. - Roll 1d6 to try to pick up a fragment. If you roll even you are successful. You can try as many times as you'd like! - Each time you pick up a fragment successfully you hear something. A phrase, a few words, a name. It doesn't sound familiar at all. It is a past memory of your character. If your character is a quest or doesn't have too much back history, you can make a quick one up for them. But it is only a FEW WORDS. The words don't have much meaning. Your character DOES NOT linger on those words. They have no reason to.
This place certainly fitted his taste, red here, red there, red everywhere. He was given a task, by the goddesses. He didn't know if a boil can become a goddess, but he's interested in the "blessing". The so-called Jaxa was just a grey mass, just a bit better than fog. So a shape of his own sounded so tempting.
He looked around the place he was. The Spire. It seemed like a dangerous place for good adventure time and the warmness from the red lights made him loving this place.
Tiny shinny orbs were all around the city, shimmering in darkness. He felt a inner urge to touch them.
So he reached out, but a figure passed by quickly and knocked him off.

((Please ignore this! I'm not conscious enough to read thread titles. 8D))
She patted her pocket with wispy fingers. She just needed one more. She felt the hard cracked rock under her, running her hand smoothly across its surface. It was still strange, how such a desolate place full of sharp angles and shadows could feel so comforting. She could almost imagine the landscape come alive, its harsh lines becoming one, its stalagmites and spires becoming spines, the fragment's glow forming massive eyes and a glowing heart. She imagined it was a great dragon, coming to protect its treasure-- them. An orb came to her again, this one floating inches away from her heart, making her feel warm and happy. She gently took it with both hands, carefully placing it next to the others.
"I like it here..."
Her thoughts exactly. She dusted herself off and left to give these to the altar.

Another figure seemed to materialize nearby - Shaw's gaze flickered to it as he grabbed another tiny speck of light.
"Be brave for me."
His awareness felt as if it was expanding now - it was easier to concentrate. His sense of self was becoming more... significant?
Shaw approached the other figure, keeping a polite distance this time. He reached to put his hands in pockets he didn't have. He didn't question the gesture - it felt natural, somehow. It was peaceful, this strange disconnection between thought and action.
"Pretty, ain't they?"

Aniera couldn't understand why the fragments were eluding her; they weren't moving fast, but they were moving out of reach whenever she thought she was near enough to pick one up. It was becoming a chore - but it was a chore she was determined to complete.

He kept walking, deliberately avoiding the others. He didn't know who they were or what they were beyond the shared bond of their similarly colored hearts. He couldn't offer them anything. He didn't know who he was or where he was or what he was doing here. The little glowing light was the only thing that seemed different, somehow, and he hesitantly reached up to touch one.
"You--taste like pie--"
Suddenly, words--real words--aimed at him. He thought he frowned at the figure that addressed him, but he couldn't be sure. "They say things," he replied, clumsily at first, until he figured out how they worked, and then with more confidence. "They're nice to look at, but they don't make sense. Do you know what the words mean?"

Aniera was getting frustrated, wondering why she couldn't even catch one when the others around her had already completed their task. In her frustration, she leaped at one of the fragments nearby; to her surprise, she actually caught it-
She frowned, closing her eyes as she heard something... A voice talking about a "mission". However, the voice faded away as quickly as it came, and she dismissed it as an aftereffect of picking up one of the fragments around.

She was on a roll.
While Aniera had struggled to collect the fragments earlier, catching her first one had somehow made catching her second one easier. As she picked it up, another voice could be heard, this one different from the first and accompanied by laughter.

She caught her third fragment right after her second, grinning as she plucked it off the ground. This time, the voice she heard was a feminine one, asking about the status of a relationship...?
Again, she chose to dismiss the voice, focusing instead on chasing the next fragment.

It was as if she had to catch her first fragment in order to keep that going, as she quickly had gathered up five. The last fragment also brought another voice, yelling out a single word - balls.
... That somehow amused her, as she broke into a grin.

The random words were really random. Jaxa started to love this "game". He wasn't sure why words come out of his mind, but they were too random to provide a good hint. So he just ignored and took it for fun.
