Rex Tsukami Rex looked at the pokemon Sol brought out and watched them run out toward Techno. He looks back at Sol "So tell me did you ever fight Lt.Surge? Rex Tsukami When Rex heard Sol say something about his father died he narrowed his eyes at him. He got up and brushed off his coat "Seems you know some information about me. Selphie walked through the town, only briefly admiring different architectures as she made her way towards the exit with both Kadaj and Chad. Through her battle with Kadaj, she could tell he wasn’t as bad as Chad had mentioned, or perhaps she didn’t really know him all too well yet. She did recall that Chad had said he could be rather conceited, so she would have to keep an ear out for that. But then again, if she did hear Kadaj say something that wasn’t too desirable, what could she possibly say to correct him without sounding like a b***h? ‘Don’t worry about it Selphie. Things happen all the time and I’ll just cross bridges when I get to them.’
As the trio approached the exit of town, Selphie turned to Kadaj, wanting to sneak off with him into the woods so that Chad could look for his Pokémon alone. “Being a champion is a lot of work Kadaj. It’s the same as being a celebrity, and well, people remember the bad that you do more than the good.” Selphie sighed, “It’s tough being famous because people always remember the errors you make throughout your career and hold that against you.”
After listening to Chad mention that this was the route between Paysage and Vormund, Selphie nodded and waved to Chad so that he could go search for his Pokémon. “Good luck, although I much prefer the method of having Pokémon come to me.” Selphie pulled several berries from her purse and placed them gently on the ground. Since Chad was busy looking through bushes for Pokémon, Selphie decided to explain what she was doing to Kadaj. “I’m placing berries on the ground because all Pokémon like berries. The Pokémon will be lured and they usually move in groups for the berries. It’s because they move in groups that I like to use this method, because whenever a group is about, you can pick which Pokémon you want from the group that showed up.” Selphie smiled and placed her remaining berries back in her bag before finding a stump and sitting on it. Once she did, she turned to Chad who seemed to be plenty exhausted already. “No, I have an idea though, why don’t you watch these berries with me and you can pick get the first Pokémon that shows up to eat them?” Selphie turned to Kadaj and nodded, “That sounds like a good idea, right you guys?”

Rex Tsukami Rex walked found a small electronic's store along one of the streams. When the two walked into the store Techno started to get excited. The pokemon leaped off his shoulder but Rex caught him in mid air. "Now now don't go crazy Techno." He held Techno in his arms and walks around the shop til they found the Audio section of the small shop. He looked at the CD's and noticed one of his were being sold here. He put his coat collar up some to hide his face then. They both found headphones on display "Now lets see here you what would you like little buddy" he said looking at Techno. "Elekid! Ele!" Techno pointed at set with a Electivire on the ear sides. "you like those Techno?" Techno nodded and spark came out of his plug shaped horns. "ok ok easy there buddy" Rex grabbed the headphones and bought them. Techno grabbed them after they were bought and put them on. The two walked out of shop and it was still morning out. Techno had his eyes closed and happily listening to music. Rex started to walk towards the exit of the city "Were have to get you some friends Techno." He said to Techno who wasn't paying attention. Kadaj looked down, thinking about if he was at a disadvantage or not against the first gym leader. To be honest, he didn’t think he was since the gym leader was a bit of a push-over compared to the others because of the weak normal types she used. This was just one of the things he learned yesterday when he was alone. He’d been able to catch a couple of girls talking about her and what Pokémon she used: An Audino and Minccino. The two Pokémon didn’t seem like they’d be a problem for Torchic and Poochyena. Still, it’d be nice to have Torchic evolve before the battle, but if not, that’d be okay too because from what Kadaj had seen today, he knew that Torchic was a lot stronger than he’d thought before.
As the three approached the edge of town, Kadaj felt the need to cling to Chad while he went out to search for Pokémon, but ultimately decided not to, and instead, went with Selphie to learn a thing or two about Pokémon in general.
“I guess you’re right dude.” Kadaj was referring to the complications Selphie said were involved with becoming a champion. He really didn’t like being scrutinized. “Well, people will be too distracted by my good looks to even notice when I mess up! There are tons of celebrities like that already!”
Kadaj silently watched as Selphie placed several handfuls of berries on the ground and explained what she was doing. He had to admit, it was a pretty good idea, and if he knew anything about berries, then he probably would’ve done the same thing. He didn’t have any berries on hand though and quite frankly, he had no idea where to get them either. “Wow, that’s pretty awesome dude, probably even as awesome as me.” Kadaj laughed a little before turning to Chad who seemed to be tuckered out. “Dude, we haven’t been out here that long, how are you already tired?”
Kadaj dismissed his own comment and allowed Selphie to explain what she was doing before getting back into the conversation, “Yeah, wait with us man! We’re waiting for Pokémon to show up and eat the berries.” Kadaj was kind of excited, but in the back of his mind, he really didn’t want to catch another Pokémon right now because he just wanted to focus on the ones he had. Two was enough for the first Gym Leader at least.

Chad walked up to Kadaj and stood next to him before listening to Selphie explain what it was she was doing with all the berries lying out on the ground. It was a good idea no doubt and Chad was more than willing to try it out. After finding a fallen over log, Chad sat down on top of it and stared at the berries before deciding to get in on the conversation that the two were having about whatever. “So I looked, I couldn’t find anything. I guess it couldn’t hurt to try this out.” Chad smiled and focused more so on Selphie while he asked his next question. “So, what did you think of the battle earlier?” Chad was referring to the fact that Selphie was actually testing Kadaj to see how pure he was in terms of how he raised his Pokémon. Chad was slightly worried that Kadaj had made himself seem like an egomaniac, but when he went over the battle in his head, Chad felt like maybe Kadaj did a lot better than he’d anticipated.
“I’m not tired you guys, I’m just tired of looking for more Pokémon. I don’t think I’ll be able to find one at this rate.” Chad folded his arms and let out a sigh. He didn’t like having to search for Pokémon, but luckily, Selphie had seemed to come up with some sort of idea for the three to go off of. He just hoped it’d work sooner than later. “So Kadaj, do you plan on catching a Pokémon? I think I’m going for a fighting type, but that seems like what everyone wants right now. I could always go for something that is defensive against normal types, like a steel-type.” Chad shrugged because he was still going over possibilities in his mind. There were a bunch of options and all of them would make sense in the long run.

Selphie couldn’t help but laugh as Kadaj mentioned his good looks and how people would be distracted by them. Maybe Chad was just over-evaluating Kadaj and making everything he did seem more dramatic then it needed to be, because from what Selphie was seeing, Kadaj was just messing around. Perhaps Chad didn’t realize this. Either way, Selphie wasn’t as concerned for Kadaj as she was when Chad had been describing him. “Tee-Hee, maybe Kadaj, maybe.” Selphie was referring to how his good looks would be able to keep him out of the public’s eye in a bad light. It did work for some people, so it could probably work for his as well.
As Selphie conversed about this, she turned to the berries, only to see that they were all still there “I think it’s going to take a while, but it’ll happen. It works every time for me. That’s how I caught most of the Pokémon I’ve ever had. It’s a lot safer than going off the road as well and getting snagged on a vine or something.” Selphie laughed at herself as she thought about all the dumb but plausible scenarios that could play out if she went off the road. If she ever did go off the road, it wasn’t very far at all. “Ah, Chad the battle went well. I have no doubts about both of your capabilities and I’m pretty sure you two will do amazingly in your first gym battle.” Selphie hoped that would clarify everything. The last thing she wanted Kadaj to find out was that she was actually testing his abilities to handle pressure and things of the sort in battle, which is a lot of the reason she allowed Kadaj to pull off the victory, but most of it came from his own natural talents in a fight. “I don’t think anyone should worry about what kind of Pokémon they catch, so long as it isn’t a type you already have. There’s something called a PC where you can store all Pokémon that are over your limit of six.”

Kadaj watched as Chad stood next to him, although he didn’t blush like he would’ve expected himself to do after something like that. It was probably because he’d finally come to terms with how Chad felt about him, simply just a friend and nothing more. It was saddening, but at the same time, this journey was full of potential and he couldn’t let this thing that happened at the beginning deter him from all the possibilities. He started this without Chad; he could finish it without him as well. It was a bit cut-throat to say, but Kadaj was just trying to make sense of why he didn’t blush. “Ah man, I don’t know if I’m going to catch one. I kind of just want to put faith in Pepper and Poochyena dude. But at the same time, I don’t want them to feel like it’s all their responsibility to win the whole thing. I mean I know that eventually I’ll catch more before I fight the elite four, but what about right now you know?” Kadaj walked over to the log Chad was sitting on and sat right beside him and laughed a little. “Hope you don’t mind, I got tired of standing.” Kadaj turned to Selphie who was talking about what she thought of the battle. It was refreshing to have someone here who could seem positive about everything, especially someone as pretty as Selphie. He had a ‘bro crush’ on her that was for sure. Not something sexual, more just a fascination where he wanted to be around her, but telling her would be pretty dumb. “Thanks girl! I try to do well for the Pokémon. I can’t win battles with looks alone.” Kadaj looked at the berries and then back at Selphie, “I’ve never actually heard of a PC. Sorry, I don’t know anything about Pokémon. I’m new to all of this really.”

Chad was reassured whenever Selphie mentioned that sometimes it took a while, but it worked for her every time. He had no reason to doubt her since everything she’d said so far seemed pretty sound. “Alright, if you say it works then I’ll believe you.” Chad smiled as Kadaj sat with him. He could feel a blush coming on and he couldn’t do anything to suppress it. If someone asked why his face was red, Chad decided that he’d just say he wasn’t feeling so well or something of the sort. He didn’t want to say that he was shy or anything because tough guys weren’t supposed to be shy, or at least, that’s what he wanted to believe.
Selphie’s opinion about the battle only made Chad even more relieved because he’d been so worried that Selphie wouldn’t see Kadaj as a potential worthy person in terms of being a Pokémon Trainer. “Alright, thanks Selphie.” Chad nodded and turned back to Kadaj who was sitting right next to him. It seemed like some people were in a rush to get into a relationship while on their journey to become a master of the Pokémon, while others didn’t even want to get involved in relationships until they were already well-known and settled down a little. Chad didn’t know what he was, but his heart told him that he should tell Kadaj how he feels while his brain told him to wait. “I’m definitely going to catch a Pokémon right now, that’s for sure. I don’t have a reason not to. If anything, it could add variety to my combat team against the first gym leader.” Chad smiled eagerly before letting the idea of a PC run its course through his brain. He really didn’t know what it was either since he wasn’t too up to date on the newest Pokémon gadgets. “Oh Selphie, you should tell us what it is.”

Selphie was pleased to see that the two attractive men really cared about her opinion. Too bad one of them was gay and the other had feelings for the gay one. That made her love life seem like it had no shot at surviving, especially when people saw her hanging out with a couple of men who could pass off as models. Then again, Selphie wasn’t one to worry too much about relationships right now because she had a whole journey ahead of her. It was too early to start worrying about that kind of stuff. “You guys seriously are Pokémon Trainers and you don’t know what a PC is?” Selphie rolled her eyes, but giggled as she did so. They were dumb sure, but right now, they were her dummies. In a weird kind of way that probably wouldn’t make any sense to anyone else, she found that rather cute. “Okay, I guess I could tell you guys what they are. Basically, in every town, there’s a Pokémon Center. At a Pokémon Center, there’s a machine called a ‘PC’ that allows you to store your Pokémon away until you need them. The PCs are all linked together and you can get your Pokémon from any PC in the world. Be sure to note though, that you can only carry six Pokémon at a time with you anywhere.” Selphie really didn’t understand that rule. Technically you could carry more than six, but you couldn’t use them in a battle. “Well, I guess that’s all there is to know about PCs. They’re pretty handy whenever you plan on going on a long journey and need more than six Pokémon to deal with any job. I for one plan on catching more than six while I’m with you guys, but you never know how fates going to play out.” Selphie pointed to the berries, “This could take all day. How about you guys share a bit about yourself? It’ll be my price for teaching you guys so much about Pokémon. You pay me in stories about yourself. Besides, who doesn’t like to hear a good story every now and then?”

There were a lot of reasons for Kadaj to catch a Pokémon and there were also some ‘not so good’ reasons. He decided that if there wild Pokémon came to east the berries as a group, then he would catch one, but if only one came and it was something that Chad wanted, then Kadaj would simply refrain from capturing the Pokémon. Besides, it wasn’t like there was any Pokémon Kadaj needed anyways for the first gym. “Ah man!” Kadaj scratched his head as he tried to wrap his head around the concept of PCs and how they actually worked. Ultimately he decided to just ignore its power. “That’s too confusing dude! Why do we even have to think about that kind of stuff, or like, how does that even work.” Kadaj shrugged before deciding to pay back Selphie with what she wanted, which actually happened to be a story. That seems like a strange thing to request, but whatever. “You want a story? Alright then, let’s see what I can give ya’.” At this point, Kadaj didn’t like sharing his life, but maybe, since Selphie wanted to know so bad, he could think of a thing or two to talk about that involved himself and his own life. “Let’s see, I was born in a city kind of far from here, but basically there’s a ghost gym-leader out there and he uses ghost type Pokémon to fight people with.” Kadaj shrugged, unsure of what else to say about the guy. “He’s pretty scary and I was scared of him growing up, but he’s cute though. I’d probably hit that if he let me.” Kadaj laughed loudly before turning to Chad, wanting to see what his reaction was. Although another part of him wanted to hear what kind of story Chad would come up with since Chad never seemed to really open up to Kadaj.

Chad kind of understood the process as Selphie explained it, although it probably would be a lot harder to understand if someone who wanted to go into detail explained it, because where did the Pokémon go? Was there a huge storage facility somewhere that held the Pokémon until it was time to be used again? Also, what if someone died, would their Pokémon just stay in their forever? It all seemed confusing and illogical, but at the same time, Chad didn’t want to make a big deal out of it because it wasn’t something that concerned him. He didn’t plan on dying or anything of the sort so there was nothing to worry about. “Alright, alright. I guess I got to Selphie.” Chad looked at Kadaj and laughed, mainly because Kadaj seemed like he didn’t understand one lick of the information given to him, and the funny thing was that it wasn’t hard to believe.
After Kadaj finished his own story about how he had a crush on the ghost gym-leader, Chad rolled his eyes and shook his head. It didn’t make him jealous or anything because it was like a celebrity crush, something so out of the realm of possibility that anyone who was jealous of it would probably be extremely possessive. The last thing Chad wanted to do was seem overbearing. “Huh, I guess that’s cool.” Chad shrugged before speaking up about himself. “I guess Selphie already knows a lot about me, but I could try and think of more things.” Chad looked around for a moment, “My mom worked at a bakery while I grew up, so I know a lot about baking. I know, not the most exciting thing, but neither was Kadaj’s so I guess we’re even.” Chad laughed, having a feeling that he just ousted Kadaj’s plan to get to know more about Chad.
