Earthmother sat and watched Vanya interact with each of the females. She beamed with pride as Vanya divined each fauness. The spirits favored Vanya, and it filled her heart to know that "The Roots" has been found. She'd always been fond of him, and Vanya was a very sweet young lady, too. Earthmother looked forward to working with her and getting to know her better.

She said a silent prayer to the spirits and Laisidhiel, thanking them for bring Vanya home.

"Thank you, Seer." Earthmother said softly when Vanya was finished. She reached out to place a hand on her shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze. "The time for rest is near, but we still have the induction ceremony to follow the Choosing. You will not need to work for that, it is merely Rais welcoming you, and bestowing the gifts, relics and vestments of our ancestors. You are finished with the hard part."

Turning to the three females kneeling before the new Seer, Earthmother addressed them. "Ladies, thank you for diligence, hard work and patience with completing the tasks. The ceremony to induct the chieftess normally takes four weeks to complete, but we have reason to speed things along, which will be revealed soon. Out of all eligible females, you three are the best options to be Rais partner, one of our leaders, and mother to the next chief."

Earthmother walked back towards the sapling, and turned to speak again. She touched her fingers together and raised her gaze to look upon each of the three females, "We were looking for Rais' soul mate. She is not Arda's former mate reborn, as the Circle is, but the special soul who was created especially to compliment and complete Rais. The spirits and Laisidhiel know what is in each of our hearts, know our pure intentions and know what our weaknesses are. Each and every one of us has that special someone out there that was created just for us, to balance and ground us. But, it is not up to the spirits, or Laisidhiel to decide which one of you is Rais' best match. The spirits and Laisidhiel may know what is in our hearts, but they cannot measure love. Love is a force beyond all of us, even the spirits and The Great Tree."

Pausing, mostly to take a breath and rest a moment, forgetting that while she may look young, she is indeed very, very old still.

"With a fleeting glance, a gentle touch, a whisper of a name, or scent carried on the breeze, love strikes us each differently. While we do believe in arranged marriages, we also believe in love. I will council with Rais after you three leave this room. I will guide him, best a mother can do, but he will ultimately make the decision which of you to marry, if any at all. But I am confident we've found that special star that Rais' soul longs for."

"Be proud. You are all wonderful, brilliant, bright, beautiful and strong young women any male would be lucky to have in his life. Even if Rais does not choose you, does not mean you are any less special or wonderful. Just means that a more wonderful man is out there waiting for you."

Earthmother walked back towards Caleigh, unlooped the purple velveteen bag from her wrist and pressed it into Caleigh's hands. "These are yours now. My job as Matron is complete, and the mantle is yours now. Eventually, you will be looking for the mate of our future chief, and the princesses. These are special runes blessed with the magic required to aide in matching lost souls together. Use them wisely."

Returning the mural door, Earthmother opened and instructed the girls to wait by the dais for the final decision.

Rais was also informed that his presence was required in the sacred room.

---------------------------

The Competition is complete. Winners will be announced as soon as I can get the post made.

Rais and Earthmother's exchange will not be RP'd out, because what they talk about is classified. However, Rais will be posting after the meeting, to announce which Faun he's chosen as his future mate.

Do not post IC replies regarding the winner until Rais has made his IC post declaring which girl he chose. Thanks!

Rais New Wife Is.....?

While the RP isn't quite at the spot to reveal the winner, I will announce them here for those eagerly awaiting. Please note, don't let your faun know the results until after Rais actually makes his decision.

The faun who best exhibited the qualities Rais needs in a mate AND the player we think is best suited to play his better half, and the future chief is:

Belvah, played by Dementia Requiem Asumi!

It was a difficult decision, because you all did so wonderful with the RP responses and character development. The RP was amazing and I enjoyed it all so much!

Kira and Dream, we have a special offer for you, as a special reward for doing so well. We have planned for Rais to have many daughters, before the son is born. Some conflict for the stubborn male-dominant society. We'd like to offer to you each the chance to play one of Rais daughters. These would be IPC-born pae, so they will have certain rules attached regarding playing them.

IPC Rules:
  • IPCs are RP-required (to grow and to keep) They also do not grow on the normal growing schedule, but will grow based on RP activity of that pae (not the player) and do not have to grow at the same rate as their sibings. (as is normal policy with breedings.)
ICPs also breed based on plot advancement, not breeding slot availability, because they are for character development only. They do not cost money, and they do get traits (edits) from their parents, including accessories and clothing as appropriate for their plot purpose.
  • IPCs can be rehomed if in the event their player is inactive for either 1 year, or at the time their character is required for the plot, and the player is unavailable.
  • These specific IPCs (Rais' daughters) will be Faun Princesses. They must live in the Tree, and they will be tutored by Caleigh.
They are free to make their own decisions about life when they become teens. They are not to be placed into extended island families to be raised by pae'il that are not their parents. Just because they are allowed to make their own decisions about their life, does not mean their stubborn traditionalist father won't still try to control them. wink
  • Please do not exclude each other in the family RP. (This is mentioned because it has happened in the past, and I do not want the first set of royal offspring not RP'd due to not being able to find someone to RP with.) --This goes for anyone who will be playing the leader-offspring. (naiads will be coming up next.)
  • We have some plot arcs planned in the future regarding these kids, so we'll inform their players ahead of time when they're needed and what their role will be. (We will be having some villians surface, who want the princes and princesses.)
  • Be prepared for new information regarding these 2nd gen IPCs to be added as they grow. They are special and privileged after all.

This does indeed mean Belvah will be having more than two babies upon first breeding. wink
Sorry for the long list of rules, but I wanted to make sure our bases were covered. We've had bad luck in the past with people getting plot characters then leaving the shop.

----------------------------------

Inductions ceremony RP will begin tomorrow, and we'll aim for concluding it on Saturday! So if your faun was chosen for the circle, stick around!

Caleigh looked to Vanya when the woman started reading her fortune. She frowned for a moment before it had dawned on her that she was only scared of the darkness within. The Seer told her it was ok, that everyone had it, and to keep the light bigger than the darkness. Much of it had not made sense to the faun, but she gladly absorbed the information to help herself. The spotted hyena raked her hand through her hair, giving an exhausted yawn. After this, she was most definitely going to find a place to sleep off this deprivation that she had been going through due to the quests.

However, she did not expect the Earthmother to come over to her and hand her a purple bag that had felt very soft against her skin. Caleigh frowned. "Really?" she asked quietly, peeking into the bag before she closed it up. "Mantle?" she asked once again. "Do I get any training in this?" the spotted hyena squeaked, blinking her eyes rapidly in a row from nervousness.

Only then she stopped talking when they were excused to the dais, where she waited with Belvah and the other girl.

Belvah reached out to catch Vanya as she leaned forward. She thought the seer was about to collapse, it wouldn't have been good to let her fall.

She had listened to everything, and believed that the new seer was very talented. Very wise and very young. Belvah was worried about the girl, but she understood why Vanya was so very tired. She had gone through a much more costly trip and everything. The cost to become a seer was far higher than the cost of a dream.

The silvery gray female sighed quietly, glad to see Vanya keep herself upright. She nodded as Earthmother spoke, thinking of the girls around her as equals in the attempt for Rais' heart. She would be happy now, if he chose any of them.. Well, she'd be a little upset, but if it was soulmates.. Any of them could be it.

As quiet as she was inside the room, that's how she remained on the way to the dais, having been excused. She was very happy to be standing with Callie and Ama. Proud of them for accomplishing everything they had. It was only when she heard that this process normally takes four weeks. Really? That would explain why she was so exhausted. But it wasn't done yet. They still had to wait for Rais to make his choice and then the inductions, and who knew when a wedding would take place.

No, for one of these girls, it was still going to be a very long evening. She smiled at both Caleigh and Ama. She waited quietly for Rais to come around and tell them his choice. Not so secretly hoping it was herself.

It takes a lot of personal strength for Takis not to come collect Vanya after she'd finished with the first candidate, the orange woman who seemed familiar. She looked so fatigued, so weak. But Vanya had soldiered on and Seen for the next two candidates as well. Takis keeps an eye on her, but his eyes wander to the first woman, Amadorine, during the whole process. She seemed so familiar. Especially her eyes. Takis resolves to find her later, since she'd also been named to the new Council, and ask her who she was and how he knew her.

After the process is over, and the Earthmother had left to go consult with Rais, Takis focuses his attention back on Vanya. He stands and goes into the larger space with the women. Laying a hand on Vanya's shoulder, he murmurs gently to her, "Come and rest now." He puts a guiding hand on her waist to try and steer her back to her resting room. He'd pick her up if he had to and carry her back.

Amadorine thought she'd done something wrong when Vanya had pulled back from her. The other fauness recovered quickly, though, and began to speak about her dream. The words she spoke certainly made sense, and she felt herself blush at the thought of having a pride issue; it certainly could be true, since that had been one of the reasons she refused to throw any challenge.

However, when Vanya spoke again, she mentioned the 'other male' in her life, and Amadorine knew instantly she was referring to her housemate, Thom. She didn't say anything, since the pause that Vanya gave was brief before she continued on. By the time that the seer was done speaking, she certainly had enough to think about for a life time.

A look of surprise overtook her face when the protection rune had been brought up again; she'd forgotten about it, honestly. But when the piece of amber was held out to her, she took it into her hands and felt a warmth radiate from it through her palms. She would have to make a pouch for it to carry it safely around with her; there was no way she'd let it leave her person.

Panic overtook her when Vanya began to fall, but before she could get up to help, the seer had caught herself. However, she couldn't resist getting up and walking over towards the seer as Takis began to guide her away. Giving Takis a smile, she leaned over and whispered into Vanya's ear. "Take care of my son...." There was something between these two; she could tell. And, even though she'd had no part in raising the man before her, she still did care about him.

"Oh, thank goodness" Alistair laughed, tagging along behind the other male again. The smells coming from within the tavern weren't lost on him, either. He hoped his stomach wouldn't begin to growl. "Good that it's so close, too" he added, catching up to Gulliver and looking the place over, "we won't miss anything going on."

Gulliver nods "Only too true on that one, and look we dont have to sit on the bench we should be able to hear from here" he motions the tables outside before entering the tavern and ordering himself some food. Once he has it he sits at an empty table and starts to eat while he waits for Alistair to get his own food.

Rais stood and listened to Earthmother as she addressed each faun female. He was just a bit surprised when she announced that they had made it to the end, but he would know get to choose! He looked to each one with a nod and then followed his mother through the mural door.

"I have to choose?" He asked her. He knew in his heart that this was correct but asked the question, just to hear the words. He paced and thought. He knew that to everyone he was sure he leaned in one direction....Belvah. He felt and instant attraction to this faun, but could you build a life on attraction alone? Then he thought about the fact she had given her hair to be with him. What female would do that if there was something deeper going on?

Rais's mind now turned to Caleigh. She was beautiful too, smart. She was the girl that brought Belvah to his attention, well for more than attraction. She ended up as the Matron, and it made sense, especially if Belvah ended up being his wife. She would raise Bleavh and his children....there he went thinking of Belvah again. Maybe there was something to this love at first sight thing he had heard of.

Last he thought of Amadorine. She was strong and stubborn. He could see her trying to put him in his place. He knew she would be great as the pathfinder. He wasn't sure if she was meant to be his wife.

Finally, Rais knew there was only one clear choice. He turned to Earthmother and nodded, "I'm ready."

Rais returned to the dais and stood in front of the three females. "This was a hard decision...someone to spend my life with me. It's not always going to be an easy one. You all proved you could handle it through the wife choosing process. I thought of all that happened and my heart seemed to belong to one faun." Rais smiled and nodded at Amadorine and Caleigh and then stood with his hand out to Belvah, "Belvah will you live with me in Laisidhiel, take care of the faun race, be at my side, have my children and above all love me until I am no more?" Rais looked at her and waited just in case she decided to change her mind,

Belvah's heart almost sank when he smiled at Amadorine and then Caleigh. She was almost sure one of the other two women would be chosen. Wait a second, that was her name he spoke? The silvery gray female blushed instantly, a hand shooting to her mouth.

Her lips curved into a wide smile, showing many of her brilliantly white teeth as Rais proposed to her. Afraid words would fail, she gently took his hand, nodding. There was no way she was saying no, not after everything she'd gone through for him. "Ye-yes" The words were shaky, but they were clear and loud enough to be heard by plenty of the faun nearby.

It was almost as if the hand wasn't enough, Belvah had to hug him, make sure that this wasn't a dream. Feeling the warmth of his skin against hers, it was reassuring to know she wasn't sleeping. The silvery gray female almost couldn't believe this was real. With two other women that would have made a good made for him as well... She almost felt bad for them, but she still couldn't help but think herself to be among the happiest faun in the world right now.

The warmth of the hug made him feel the decision was right. He pulled her tight and then looked her in the eyes. These were the eyes of the female he would be with for the rest of his life and he was ok with it. At the same time though, it was a tiny bit awkward as he didn't know her. "We will have to get to know each better." He said with a smile, he was happy to spend lots of time doing so, but next he had circle inductions to do. "Soon." He said as he kissed her cheek.

Earthmother watched silently as Rais made his announcement. He choose the silvery faun with long fur and looked happy. She had to cover her mouth at one moment to hide her chuckle when she envisioned her grandkids. When the couple hugged, she took the chance to approach the dais and take center stage.

She took hold of each faun's hand and grinned at the crowd, "Looks like a celebration will be coming up!"

When cheers died down, Earthmother let go of her son and future daughter-in-law's hand so that she could address the gathered faun one last time for this important get-together.

"It has been an incredibly long day, and I am sure most of you are exhausted, hungry or worse, bored. The sun has set already, so it is time for us to induct the chosen faun into Rais Circle. Outside, on the northern side of Laisidhiel's little island we've set up a sacred circle with a fire in the center. I ask that everyone who was called to serve The Tree meet us out there in fifteen minutes. Everyone else is welcome to retire for the night, and rejoin friends and family. You are welcome to bear witness at the induction ceremony, however, it is not required. This meeting of the Great and Strong race of Faun Pae'il is adjorned!"

Earthmother was taking control, briefly, because Rais had to prepare for the inductions, and he seemed a slight bit distracted anyway. She had dropped a bombshell on him today. He woke up this morning believing that this was a strictly strategy meeting, but it closed with him betrothed.

---------------

((Throughout the afternoon, I will post from EM and she'll talk about each Faun. Feel free to reply to this to get your faun outside and seated. But don't feel bad if you miss the opportunity before EM posts again. I just need to get the introduction to the induction prepared, and make sure everyone (staff-wise) is ready for their part.))

Earthmother had some of her fairy friends help in preparing the fireside area while the meeting inside of the tree was going on. Outside, on the northern side of Laisidhiel lay the faun ritual site. There was a large circle outlined in small stones and wildflowers. Inside the circle was a large pit where fires are built so faun could make their offerings were made to the spirits and The Great Tree herself.

Surrounding the pit were smoothed stones designed to be used for seating. There were several layers of them, going all the way from the pit to the outside border of the circle. It was designed to allow many faun to sit within the circle to participate. Important ceremonies, such as inductions, weddings, protection rites, and battle preparation are held here.

The circle is not the original one used by the faun. That was destroyed when the race was thought wiped-out many centuries ago. This new circle was chosen by Laisidhiel. Rais and Earthmother had to wait for the site to be shown to them before it could be cleansed and prepared.

The time had come to prepare the sacred circle, which meant time was nearing that Rais had to choose those faun who would serve beside him.

---

When the faun arrive to the sacred circle, they will find a large campfire burning in the center. There is a green, aqua, black, pale blue, and red candle burning on each of a small stone pillar marking five points just outside of the pillars. These candles represent the five elements, and are burning as acknowledgement to the spirits and ancestors of the original Pae'il of Telrunya. Faun tradition dictates that the spirits of the past be present in all important ceremonies, so they can offer their blessings.

If a candle blows out at any time during the ceremony, that means that element disproves of what is going on.

Rais heard his mother's announcement and pulled himself away from Belvah. "Duty calls..." He whispered and joined his mother's side. "You sure had a lot of plans today, didn't you mother?" He looked at her with a fake frown, for he wasn't too upset. He was feeling happy over everything, but knowing at the same time it was about to get serious and quick.

Giving her son a wink, Earthmother just smiled. "You are too busy to look for a girl on your own. You know how much I want grandkids," she teased. The real reason for rushing this ceremony had very little to do with what she wanted or what she wanted for her son.
