He paused for thought at this, patting his pockets for a little money. "...Ale...I think...would be good." He said slowly, clearing his throat again as though that would dismiss the cracked and ruined sounds of his voice. Truth be told, he might make an amusingly quirky pirate. He'd tried rum once and didn't actually much care for it, neither smell nor taste.

Gabriel rushed from the Dementia, and without looking he burst into the Golden Cutlass. As he burst into the establishment he slamed into someone not too far from the door, he fell down and yelled "Ow, damnit all," he then looked at who he had just ran into, it was Katherine!
Gabriel's angered expression quickly dissapeared, "I'm so sorry Captain," he said before remembering why he had even come to the Cutlass in such a rush, "Captain, may I have a word with you at a table?" he asked Katherine calmly, even if he was scared that Katherine would throw a fit for what had only happened a few minutes before.

Katherine was just savouring the delicious memories of the night's events when yet another ruffian smacked into her still aching abdomen. The captain was ready to unleash her full fury this time, but the poor sap was saved when she vaguely recognized the lad as a member of her own crew. This changed things, as a proper lashing would be more appropriate than a quick cuffing about the head for a ship's boy.
Katherine pondered exactly how many stripes would look good on Gabriel's back, but didn't get to pronounce judgement as the boy spoke before she could. She was rather amused when the lad jumped the gun and asked for a chance to explain himself, so Katherine reluctantly sat back down at her table and called for another round of drinks.
More interested in the rum than the boy, Katherine motioned lazily for him to sit down also. "Out with it, lad. I don't have all day. Night. Day...week."

Gabriel sits down at the table, and nods. He takes a deep breath and starts to tell his rather strange story, "I was asleep in my quarters not long ago, and I had a dream of a ship that I remember from being in a book I read a while ago. The ship was one of cursed pirates, I remembered that the pirates in the legend are said to be sailing the waters near this area," he pauses for a breath.
"I then awoke, and ran out to look at the waters, I swear that I could see a ship, that looked exactly like the one in the novel, out in the water, however it quickly got out of sight. I fear that the ship of cursed pirates from that legend are real, and that we may all be in mortal danger," Gabriel sighed, it was pretty obvious that Katherine wouldn't believe him, she seemed to care more for the rum than what he was saying.

Katherine stared at the boy with narrowed eyes. Was he completely mad, or merely drunk? Both were rather common cases aboard the Dementia, but the captain preferred to keep a mental list of who could still be trusted to man the helm without steering them into the magical land of ice pixies. It looked like Gabriel was shortly to be off this list.
Katherine nudged a mug over to the lad and grinned into her own as she realized he had successfully avoided punishment. After all, it wasn't sporting to hit an insane child, as much fun as it may be. "Well then, I'll be sure to have the crew fill their pieces with holy bullets." She said with a condescending smirk. "Why don't you run along and tell the master-at-arms to douse the armory in blessed water while you're at it, eh?"
On the verge of laughter, Katherine leaned back in her chair to see if the boy would follow orders, and the hilarity that would ensue if he did. The master-at-arms was not known for her even temperment, and it would be highly amusing to see her reaction to Gabriel's tale.

Miyuki Ai entered the tavarn quietly, although she could feel the stares of people already on her Merfolk form as she tried her best to stay in the shadows, but that didn't do very well consitering she was without shoes and without a cloak to cover herself up with. Her mind raced as she walked quietly.
Silly people, why must they always be like this, picking on us Merfolk just because how we look. I have no trouble to cause here, I only wish to find a ship and be on the sea yet again, or return to my mother with news of my sucess or failure. She though as she moved to the side of the inside wall and walked along it until she reached the end.
There was a bit of comotion going on, and eventhough she knew she shouldn't Miyuki couldn't help but stand there and watch as she leaned against the wall and looked around at the others in the room but tried her best to stay out of the way.

Rabbit turned slightly at the fuss, though he doesn't of course recognize Katherine, never having been so close to the Dementia or it's captain, he does perk up with interest at the heated conversation between Katherine and Gabriel, mostly at first wondering if it might not be a sign that the navy has followed them -here- as well, though instead he catches a few snippets of something different. Phrases of 'cursed pirates' and 'mortal danger'. The womans scoffery actually makes him relax slightly as he stands up to help Fawkes handle the drinks. How after all would he know that Katherine isn't exactly the most sober judge of such things? Miyuki makes him tense all over again, for two reasons. First wondering for a split second if perhaps it was the mer-woman he -is- familar with, second because he realizes it isn't...and that she's watching the room. If he could read her mind he'd give her his own thoughts on people's reactions to the mer folks, that it's not entirely how they look, although he finds it utterly understandable to be alarmed by someone so defnitively not human looking, and yet so close. It offends something of human sencibilities to realize that they've been mimiced, as though they'd been betrayed by nature itself as she carved something that looked sufficiently like them to be facinating, and then made it a hundred shades more dangerous. Graceful swift elves, Mer folk with their chillingly enchanting voices, which he's seen in action....dragon folk who he can only imagine....especially should they prove as strong as rumor has them. The inhumans are frightening because they fit some primal slot in the mind that whispers that anything so powerful and trying so hard to look human -cannot-, by instinctual reason, mean anything but harm to the human race. It's for the same reasons he never expects people to react to him with the welcome that Fawkes and Aurora have. The scar around his throat, livid and angry, shows a man that by rights should be dead...and secondly, associates him with elements that make many people's skin rightfuly crawl. One does not, after all...hang an innocent or gentle man....or such would be the first though of most.

Miyuki's eyes looked around the room very softly, not stopping to stare at one certain person or just one object. Her eyes just were moving around in an aimless circle, waiting to make sure no trouble would start her way.
Peoples voices caught her attention, as she knew whisperes were most likely being spoken around her; about her. But, She was use to it by now though. People not seeing how similiar the different races were, but only looking to find out how the two groups were different. By finding one small thing, she knew they would try to be cruel as they could and belittle those like her. She would get cruel stares but that was all it seemed, at least her life didn't seem to be in harm. Those humans were the worse kind, that made her somethimes wish to return to the sea for good.
But, she couldn't and knew why. Her hand quickly moved to her neck and the small pearl on the velvet choker. She promised her mother that she would find people, no.. humans who wouldn't care about appearnces. But, in the months that she has been gone she's seen no people like that. Only her getting removed from shore-side towns by threats of death. And well.. the joys of a merfolks life.
Something made her hand quickly drop as she once again looked up. Just great.. someons really looking at me now. She thought, as she noticed rabbit looking from across the room. But, his neck was what made her look back, not with shock or fear, but with wonder. How did something like that happen.. did he get harmed by something. The ways of humans were very different than what she knew. She was only use to having her mother and herself with her. So she just silently bowed her head in respect, very quickly and then bringing it back up as she looked at a blank spot, not knowing if he was still staring.

Rachel walked through the door and sighed, the blade at her side was shaking yet again. She placed a hand on the sheath and the blade seemed to calm down. She looked around the room for a moment and noticed a Merfolk woman in the tavern, however Rachel paid no further attention to the woman. Rachel wandered around the tavern for a while, until she spotted a familiar Captain, and a familiar french boy.
She walked over to the table and sat down, she then nodded to Katherine, "Captain," she then looked to Gabriel, "Gabriel," it was unusual to see Katherine with Gabriel. If her memory served her right, Katherine tended to hate children. "So, what brings both of you to the same table?" Rachel asked the two, hoping that one of them would give her a good reason for such an odd occurance.

Rabbit, catching Miyuki's eyes wandering and where they wander to, puts a hand mutely to his scarf, twitching slightly and looking away as he adjusts both it and his shirt collar in a silent attempt to hide the scar from the room, mouth drawn tight, though it's not with anger, but some flash of muted shame and fear hanging over the previous triumph of surviving Divytown. He debated risking asking the young looking woman about their earlier traveling companion, but was weighing odds against it. Following any old deer track in the woods wouldn't lead you to the doe you were hunting. And just because one mer-woman had been freindly, even helpful, didn't mean they all were. Kailani had told him flat out, when he'd asked, that her people were perfectly cabable and desided did sing men to madness and death. Any race that would drown a ship full of sailors..... Especially when it seemed by most actions that these sailors would sooner have her leave quietly and have nothing more to do with her. That spoke that there was unlikely an wide aray of innocense on the part of the mer-folk. Maybe it was something to do with her and other mer folk that had brought up the discussion of curses at the other table? He wished they'd speak more, and louder, so he'd know.

Fawkes recognised the captain, but chose to ignore her for the time being. A drunk captain was not a clear headed one, and he wouldn't know if he had offended her. Instead, he called for three glasses of ale from the bartender and took one for himself.
"Hm... Another merfolk..." Fawkes said in a lowered whisper, looking at Rabbit. "Why do you think she's here? Kailani had said she was looking to join a ship, but another one?"

"...Don't know..." Rabbit admitted, settling back down and forcing his gaze away, studying the ale intently instead, though he's back to being as tense as a startled hare from the mer-woman's gaze. "...Not sure It's good. The boy...was saying something about a ship he saw....Didn't sound good." He shook his head faintly and took a sip of ale, wondering if it was as good as what he remembered from back home. "...Don't know...that I like the timing."

As more people began to enter the room, Miyuki felt herself tense. She knew that problems might be occuring soon, but didn't know if it was going to be in here.
For a short moment, the urge to leave was almost unbearable as she heard words about another merfolk came into her ears. This was something very unusual and almost rare that she would speak about. In her journey so far, she had only met her mother and that was the last Merfolk that she had seen, or even heard of. But, that didn't mean that others didn't like them at all.
She looked around, now feeling more uneasy, and looked for a empty table to sit, at and hopefully not get in any trouble. After all, who would Humans side with? That wasn't a hard question.
After looking for a short time, she found a table, still in the dark and sat quietly there and rested her forearms on the wooden counter before her and sighed in deeply, hoping a barmaid would come by soon.

Katherine grinned at the approach of her master-at-arms, full of mirth over the child's ridiculous story. "Why, if it isn't just the body we were looking for!" the captain exclaimed a little too loudly, the drink starting to seep into her voice.
"I believe young Gabe here has a bit of vital information to share with you, m'dear. I fear we shall all perish at the hands of ghouls if you don't hear his tale!" Katherine slapped the table at these last words, amused beyond words at her own humour. Oblivious to the people around her, the captain sloshed down more of the heady brew and watched Gabriel with a keen eye, eager to see him make a fool of himself in front of his mentor.

Gabriel sighs, why did he even go to Katherine in the first place? He knew that Katherine hadn't read a book in her life, though it was strange that she hadn't heard of the legend at all until now. However she probably forgot it one night while she was drunk, she did get drunk often so it wouldn't be a suprise if she forgot her own name once in a while.
He looks over to Rachel, compaired to Katherine she was a bundle of infinate knowledge, of swords and other weaponry at least... Gabriel knew that Rachel's biggest interest is weaponry. That is a problem since the legend isn't about weaponry, it's about a ship of acursed pirates who roam the waters near Isla Olvidada. Would Rachel have the same reaction as Katherine, or would she actually wonder if this legend could be true.
Gabriel takes a deep breath and begins to tell Rachel the story, just as he did to Katherine only moments ago, making sure to tell the story with the exact same wording as he did with Katherine. He knew if he said something mildly different that Katherine would point it out by yelling like a fool. He quickly finished the story, and waited to see what Rachel would say about it.
