As the word hit his brain, there was a red hot sensation in his chest that brought his escape to a screeching halt. His slumped shoulders shuddered, a hand going up to grip his bloodstained cravat over his chest, face sweating, eyes wide with anxiety. If Riley had tried to reach into his brain, she'd be bombarded by a flood of what could only be described as a vicious static. The gentle commanding tone seemed to be what the Igor needed, though, his posture loosening as he wobbled a bit, a weak Yes, Mistress... drifting over the fog. But... but not at the table, Mistress, I don't belong at the table, I shouldn't be sitting at the table, that's not How It's Done.

I am. Riley quickly responded. Though he has been distinctly ignoring me all day. Malodore would be able to feel the venom in that thought. She was very unhappy. At least, he was until now.

Riley put her hand down, her eyes remaining on Christof, and one finger pointed towards his seat slowly.

You were taught to be a subservient and obedient igor. This is commendable. However, while in this school, you must live by another set of rules. One of which is that you do as your professor says. Now, do as I say, and sit at your assigned seat. Her last few words were equally venomous, as was her gaze.

We will discuss all of this in detail later. This was all she had to say to Christof, for now. She finally turned her eyes back to Malodore, instantly soothed in calmness.

I apologize, Malodore. I did not mean to interrupt your conversation with your new acquaintance. It sounded enjoyable.

..had she been monitoring a conversation that was occuring several seats away, -while- comforting Calder, while her attention was -also- torn between Christof and Jericho?

Riley really was very, very good at multitasking.

Furrowing his brow while watching Riley and the Kelpie, Jericho really wondered what was going on there. It seemed like she was consoling the guy, or maybe he was just really.. touchy-feely. Or perhaps it was a mixture of the two. He saw the look in her face and was trying to think of some way he might be able to get the guy to take it easy, but quick movement caught his attention.

Staring at Christof as the igor apparently tried to bolt off, the dragon was wondering what had gotten into the guy. He didn't know the patchwork all that much, but he was acting rather differently than their last meeting so he could only assume that there was something wrong here. It couldn't all be attributed to a bad back either.

At least Christof apparently decided to stop himself... unless Riley said something to him telepathically. It was really hard to tell from his vantage point.

<> he frowned before looking towards the Kelpie, who had finally pulled away. Today was going to be quite the day... he could already tell this much.

....
.......

Shehk had heard of people being able to converse just through stares at each other, but she was really starting to be thrown by how much of it was going on, looking at the dragon in the seat next to her, then down the table with a bewildered expression on her face as she tried to figure out just what the hell was going on.

He kept looking down the table at someone!!

Was it Riley? Shehk certainly recognized the mindflayer from their lovely romp in the snow that she would have happily gone without. Oh, she oh-so-happily could have lived without anymore snow. Her fingers and toes got cold just thinking about it.

...
.......

She had to make a note to self:

Find someone to talk to in this class. Because Sammy sure as hell wasn't in it, and Nukpana hadn't jumped into it either.

Thus, there had gone -all- of the fun!

The Igor wobbled, digesting her words for a moment. Yes... yes it seemed logical. Even so, it didn't sit well with him. The fire in his spirit for the class was out as logic took a hold of his carefully and specifically trained senses. Yes, Mistress, is all he managed, drifting like a ghost back to his seat with a heavy thunk and a miserable, uncomfortable expression. Mistress knew best. Rule 3 and Rule 5. He could do this. He'd look like an idiot in the process, but he could do it. He hoped.

Feeling a set of eyes on him, Jericho glanced to the side at Shehk who had a rather bewildered expression on her face. Blinking, it took him a moment to realize that it probably looked rather odd of him, and any others who happened to be speaking with Riley with the mental conversations.

"Something wrong?" he asked, just to be sure. Maybe he had something weird on his head right now and didn't know it. Or perhaps he somehow still had a hint of pumpkin spice lingering on him. The dragon really hoped it wasn't the latter. It took long enough for him to try and wash out that perfume for himself to not smell it any longer.

... Maybe he should have burned his clothes. That would have taken care of that problem.

Riley didn't know exactly how to answer Jericho's question. Her eyes rested on Calder, feigning full attention, though her thoughts were sent solely to Jericho. He's.. having a bad day. She finally murmured, while holding her own head in her hands. She was getting a little too.. 'abused', in a sense. Too many thoughts were being directed at her, and it was starting to give her a painful headache. She retreated somewhat, her mind quieting to recover.

She gave one quick glance to Jericho, but noticed Shehk beside him, looking at her. She almost sent a greeting to the girl, but remembering what she'd just decided to do, she instead lifted her fingers in a friendly wave. Let Jericho talk to Shehk, she hoped to herself. Her hopes were rewarded with fulfillment.

Meanwhile, she was just going to sit here in silence and wait for the class to begin.

!!

The Pricolici's ears pricked right up when Jericho's attention, much to her surprised, turned on her, eyes going wide and a rather..normal-for-her frown forming on her face. In fact, the frown looked right at home there. Well, the good ol 'If you keep making that face it'll stick that way' and all that nonsense...

"Oh!..Umm.. you keep...staring off in that direction, so I was wondering if there was something over there I should be looking at." Shehk answered, not entirely the primary reason why she'd been making puzzled faces, but none the less it being a factor in why she was feeling very left out of the loop.

Though Shehk wasn't about to comment on any..lingering scents. Of all people for Jericho to be sat next to, it was the one with the overly sensitive nose who would notice that. But it smelt nice. Who was she to complain that she got to sit next to someone who actually smelt -nice-. Unlike Tristan.

Tristan smelt like ash and smoke and nastiness. She was friends with him...again..why?

Hmm.

"I...remember you from ..." she paused, this utter woe on her face all that was needed to finish that statement. She recognized him from snowhell.

There was a good moment or so where Jericho was just staring back at the Pricolici who didn't seem entirely happy. Then again, neither was he for the most part here.

"Hm? Oh! No," he said while shaking his head and glancing over to the Mindflayer in the room briefly. The Illithid wasn't looking so hot right now... he'd have to check up on her in a moment or so, "I was just kinda talking to Riley over there. She can pick up other people's thoughts if they direct them at her."

A simple enough explanation he felt.

For a moment, he raised a brow as the girl suddenly seemed rather despaired. But he quickly realized the reason for that as he recalled where he had seen her before. She was a fellow shapeshifter-with-issues during the insanity that was Christmastown. Shuddering at the memories of that place, he shook his head to try and rid them. He didn't need those things plaguing him during this class. There was enough for him to get frustrated here as it was.

"Yeah. That place," he nodded grimly, "...Shehk right?"

Riley may have been good at multitasking, but she forgot something in all the chaos that she was trying to manage. While she said no words, she had ordered Christof. While he was rather upset, he had looked up when he noticed her attention was sent away, and he looked out to notice the hunchback from before push from his seat, look at them – something that sent Calder's ears back – and rush out. He would have continued rushing out if it wasn't for a small wave of Riley's hand, and the boil stopped suddenly. It was something Calder had seen before, and his eyes slowly took the interaction. The boil, having suddenly stopped, turned, and went back to his seat, looking pale and somewhat sick – or parts of him were. It was hard to talk about complexion when the monster had several types of skin sewn on. Still, though he could not hear it, he knew Riley said something, and he had a sick creeping feeling that slowly turned warm.

His composure was back only for the sake of putting up a defense, and the kelpie slowly pulled away from the mindflayer as he sat firm and stiff in his seat. You're a mistress? The words were hesitant, but his eyes, though still wet, were narrowing. If it was one thing Riley might not have noticed during Truth or Dare was that Calder had a particular dislike for owners of any sort.

Shehk made a slight face.

"Yeah. Snowhell. I don't think I want to go on anymore school-sanctioned trips after how that one turned out." Not to say she'd utterly complain about her..uh... 'bonding time' with Nukpana, but none the less, she hadn't enjoyed that strange place one bit!

"Yes, Shehk. And you..are.." She paused, seeming to think for a name. A lot had been going on in the snow, names hadn't passed all that readily out there since most had been going 'OMG, REINDEER, KILL IT! KILL IT! AHHH!!!'. Mmm. Reindeer. That had been delicious....

The Pricolici reigned her thoughts in before the more-canid part of her mind ran away with the thought of food. Not to say she wouldn't have chased after anything if it had run past right then.

"It's Jericho, right? Sorry if I get it wrong. There was a loootttt going on out in Christmas-Hell. I don't think I want to see anymore snow ever after that!"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 22, 2011 10:58 am

"That's me alright," nodded Jericho, though he wouldn't have blamed her if she didn't recall his name. As she said, a lot had been going on in that cold and white hell. He was surprised he remembered as many names as he did seeing how he was pretty much a complete stranger to everyone on that journey when it first started out. If there was anything about that trip that was positive, it was probably that it acted as a nice bonding experience. Everyone that went now had that trauma under their belts to be able to relate with.

"And I know what you mean. It was way too cold there... and too much JOY. I'd be happy if I never have to be in snow again," he huffed.

Riley's attention suddenly focused very sharply on the boil that was pulling away from her. You caught that, did you? She murmured very quietly, clearly impressed at his skills of perception. Unfortunately, it seemed to upset him. Her eyes lidded and she chuckled. Christof is an igor. It is in his nature to need a master. Or, she waved her hand just slightly at herself. A mistress. Unfortunately, he was under the wing of a.. her eyes fluttered to the sloth demon for just a moment, slitting dangerously, before returning to Calder. -Well, let's just say his master was less than competant. I care about Christof, I give him what he needs. Her eyes crinkled slightly in a smile. But I take it you're not a fan of this type of relationship, from your reaction. Any particular reason?
PostPosted: Sat Jan 22, 2011 1:14 pm

He slipped himself entirely from her, sitting and deciding to set his hands on the table, taking his misting bottle as if she might steal it and looking away a while. How could such a nice person be a mistress? It just went to show you that there were two sides to each person, maybe even more than that. Like....Eleven!

He pursed his lips, eyes narrow and clearly displeased. It's in no one's nature to need a master or mistress. He either was never given the chance or was told the wrong thing. I bet he would like to be free to make his own decisions and do whatever he wanted instead of serving you. To which he look at her, frowning. ...and nice or not, you still own him. Who's to say you know what's best? What he needs? It wasn't her call in the end, now was it?

He turned the water bottle around and around to distract him. I don't like masters and mistresses cause you make people prisoners. He's not your work horse. A bad, negative term to his people.

Riley would verily disagree - Christof -was- her workhorse. Well, perhaps not horse.. the honor of being her mount was reserved for Jericho. Regardless..

You could always ask him, if you feel that way. There's nothing to stop you. Riley rubbed her temple with one hand, still clearly pained from just a bit too much thought being sent into it. It's always important to remember, however, that not everyone thinks or feels the way you do. Freedom is important to you, and perhaps your kind. That is fine. But to impose your beliefs on someone else, she waved in Christof's direction, is as stubborn and rude as you might think the idea of owning someone is. Keep that in mind, the next time you choose to question someone's lifestyle choice.

She was glad that she had come to realize Calder wasn't minion material after all. He was giving her a headache. Well, more of one than she already had.
