__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ - Lucas Grey - __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Chinese? Well... He could do something right? He was about to suggest noodles. But Alanis had other plans. He could tell. "No... No..." He didn't even know yet. Then she said it... "T-T-T-NO!" That little outburst caused a look from Alanis that would make Hitler shiver. "I-I-I-I m-m-mean... y-yes?" But but... Lucas was just about to cry as he began to get the materials for the stew... the turtle stew. Oh dear goddess that wasn't Frank S. was it!?

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ - Kaleb Roman, & Ilya de la Cruz - __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Did Ilya even know a Chinese dish? Crap-No-Wait! Yes she did! She grinned at her memory and pushed Kaleb off to get her ingredients. After he came back with them she began working on her dish, shooing off Kaleb each time he got near. "Will you let me do anything woman!?" He regretted that the moment she dropped the egg roll and glared at her step-brother. "Shut up and make it presentable" snapped the woman moving the dish over to him.

Yes! Chinese Turtle Stew! It was perfect! It was Chinses, it was appetizing, and it was turtles! How could they loose with that? Lucas loved turtles, after all. Didn't he? "You like turtles, don't you Lucas? Just like Frank, isn't it Lucas? You remember Frank S. Lucas? He's a turtle, isn't Lucas? And you love him, don't you Lucas?" She had that little glare in her eyes. The one that very rarely appeared. The last time it was in her eyes was when she had tried to kill Mandy at the Masquerade. She proceeded to make a very pretty bowl out of the Turtle Stew to please the judges! She would have put parsley on the rim to make it more pretty, but by then she would have run out of time. Turtles took a while to boil!

Xeiro walked over to his little station after finishing all of his forms. With the sound of Chinese, he knew he may be in trouble later on. But, for now, he had a trusty wonton recipe! That was an appetizer right?! He could even make it all fancy with dressing and angle them right. Yeah, yeah that would help with the presentation, too! This was a terrible idea, he shouldn't have entered alone. He shook his head and began cooking. It was Xeiro's personal preference, but pork just seemed to taste better. He started the deep oil so it would be ready before the rest; he got everything laid out in front of him, moving as swiftly as his work would allow. He laid the wrappers out neatly, the pork, water chestnuts, soy sauce, corn starch, salt and sugar. He poured them all into a bowl and stirred it, placing a small spoonful onto each paper. Fried Wonton!

Xeiro pinched the corners carefully into place, pulling the corners so they were placed outward. He then added a few into the boiling water and began on the sweet and sour sauce. He added everything quickly and started the sauce on a simmer. He grabbed the plate and dropped the warm wontons onto it carefully, making sure not to mess up the delicate shape. He nodded at the plate in front of him, quite satisfied with his creation. He wasn't all too excited about his presentation, but he hated to have anything less than perfection. One hour was not long enough!

Chinese..? Well, ********, Conor knew that s**t! Orange chicken, chow mein, fried rice.. That s**t. Sweet and sour pork, of course, mostly because Conor really loved his pork. Ah, little piggies could go to hell~! His nose wrinkled in a cringe as he recalled a particularly disturbing night a season or so ago. Yeah, they could really go to ******** hell. He almost spoke up to get Keith to make some sweet and sour pork, just 'cause he was hungry and felt like eating something. Hey, no rule saying Conor couldn't eat while doing this s**t! ..That he knew of. Conor didn't read the rules. Right, so, back to – awe. Keith had already decided on something and the teen wasn't in the mood to ******** up anything else. Yes, this year Conor was going to do more than enjoy himself. He was actually going to try to help Keith and not destroy everything like he had last time! It truly was a miracle they had even gotten into the top three that time..
“'Kay.” He replied seriously, rolling up his sleeves like he knew was the good thing to do.. because he remembered vaguely Cliona doing that when she cooked for him. He turned to the sauces and other ingredients Keith had pointed out, scanning over them slowly in confusion. Well, that mental pep talk took up most of his attention! He had no ******** clue what Keith wanted him to do! “Uh.. fish sauce.. and.. uh.. prickly.. pear thing..” He muttered to himself as he grabbed a bottle of barbeque sauce and a durio, moving on to guess on what else would be needed to stir up. Soon he was back and setting everything down onto the table. He poured at least a cup of sugar into the bowl, cut open and squeezed the durio over it as best he could before discarding the smelly fruit, barbeque sauce went in next, then came a couple of strawberries, maybe a dash of lemon juice, some garlic, then.. what was last? Oh, right. Oil. He dumped the bottle in until the bowl was almost overflown, then moved on to messily stir it all in, splashing it on his shirt and everywhere in his concentration.

This kid was really a gentleman...! It was kind of weird. Fleurette looked away as the contest starting, thinking. "Chinese food isn't really my forte..." She could make those bun things though. She tapped her chin. "How about we make steamed buns with meat inside? I can make the bun and you can do... the rest?" That was too much to ask, wasn't it? Maxwell seemed pretty confident in himself and his cooking skill, so it should be fine. Fleurette laid out a cook book in front of them both and began, not really checking if it was alright with the boy... "Just follow the recipe and then you can choose whatever you want to make for the main dish, kay?" These buns were simple to make and hard to mess up, so it would be a good 'warm up' for the two of them. Fleurette started mixing up the ingredients for the bun into a dough, then kneaded it. Once Maxwell prepared the meat, they could put it all together then push it into the oven.

Raiden watched Dante walk away, that was a little odd. Dante seemed to be a little hurt? Maybe he was reading it all wrong. He made his way over to the little judge's table (i assume there is one o.o). He sat down, glancing at all the stations. He was honestly a little worried about eating something less than appealing, and about what he had forgotten that happened at the bar the other night. He smiled at Gladice and Gaston, trying to be a friendly little judge. Chinese even sounded tasty, he sat his hands in front of him and waited.

Crimson looked over at the tree next to him, to see some boy hiding in it. Wait, hadn't that boy been in the vet? He shook his head, not really caring about the same old blahblah about smoking. Thirteen years of smoking made it a little easier to not care. He smiled at Celeste and held his non-smoking hand in his pocket. He didn't figure she'd actually come talk to him, but hey. There she was! He felt bad about smoking and quickly dropped it to the ground to stomp out with his foot, he knew he'd regret that .04292 cents he had wasted. But, all that mattered now was being a gentleman.
"Hey Celeste. I'm doing pretty good, came to be social." He smiled and placed his other hand in his pocket. He glanced around to see if anyone was nearby that she was maybe spying on, it didn't make sense to him that she would WANT to talk to her elderly boss. He ran his fingers through his hair and pulled it back into a ponytail, he wasn't used to the spring. The winter had been so cold, "and how are you?" He asked after feeling fairly sure that she wasn't waiting for anyone else.

Well, he wasn't surprised when Freja realized her mistake. Mao rolled his eyes and snatched his arm back from the woman. While she was a b***h, she wasn't nearly as intelligent and refined as Judith was. Ah, how he loved that woman~! He sighed in disappointment with the meager being he was stuck with and was about to tell the purple-haired pixie just that when she spoke. Chinese? Of course! Mao came from China! This was better than perfect! He was almost excited if he was the sort to get like that. Instead he yawned and made a small comment on how boring it was that they would choose such a theme. Surely everyone would end up just cooking egg rolls and steamed buns. He shook his head and, after a surprisingly short time discussing what they would do, Balut came up. Mao wasn't a fan of duck, but it was better than fried rice and orange chicken. So, he went to working on trying to arrange it one the plate, being sure to have the little fetus being put as the center of display! Can't have that missed or else some people will just end up fooling themselves into believing it was a simple egg!

Jade, as one would guess after a whole year in Nirvani, was the maid that was saddled with helping Florence VI cook. Why would the bugger need help? Surely, you may think, that if Florence the panda could do it on his own, this year should be no different! Well. Unfortunately for this Florence, he didn't have the size and strength to do much else but flick his.. antennae~! Yes, Florence VI was a walking stick! The insect slowly crawled out onto the table, far too large to be the regular, garden variety, and then stood still, waving his antennae around. Jade ignored him – Chinese? Yes! She knew that! She could do wonderful.. if only Gaston wasn't watching. Jade was only there to help, not anything more. She sighed and, after staring at the insect for thirty-eight minutes, decided she really needed to quit someday.

Ah, yes, for the remainder of the time limit, Florence VI started to actually do something! He moved. Three or four centimeters forward in his slow, rhythmic fashion, until he hit a snag on one of his legs just around the plate. He slowly yanked and pulled at his caught leg from on the very scratchy and sticky table cloth (Gaston would spare no expense when it came to himself, it didn't mean he was going to make the tables as grand as his own throne), until a peculiar thing happened. Jade started to fall asleep where she was standing, leaning on the table slowly as she drifted more and more into sleep.. Until she was caught off balance and slipped! The cloth yanked the bug into the air and onto the ground. The woman, startled out of her daydream, clattered about for the big bug. The fear of losing her crappy job helped her overcome the fear of picking it back up and dropping it on the plate by his leg. Ah, poor Florence's already loosed leg simply fell off onto the plate~! Not that the young bug cared much – he would just regrow a new one next time he molted. So, he went back to awkwardly walking across the table.

Celeste watched him drop the cigarette and extiguish it under his shoe. She smiled crookedly, absurdly pleased that he had put it out for her. Yes, yes. She knew it wasn't because he was trying to impress her or anything, but it was still nice that he was being gentlemanly around her. But she also felt a little bad. Sure she didn't like the smell of cigarette's and yeah it was bad for his health, but she wasn't one to judge, or to ask people to change their habits.
She looked him over as he glanced around the crowd, his eyes passing quickly over the crowd before coming back to her. Maybe he was waiting for someone? "Yeah, same here. Well, that and to hopefully get some good food. Besides, I actually like watching people cook." She watched him pull his hair back into a ponytail, still surprised that he actually looked good with long hair. "I'm doing alright. I liked the winter but I'm glad the spring is here." She grabbed the skirt of her dress and did a little spin for him, indicating it was one of the reasons she was happy about spring. She stoped her slow pirouette when she was facing crimson again. She smiled, her eyes bright as she asked, "And how are you doing? Are you out here to steal cooking secrets too?"

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••Gwen Bloom Gwen walked gingerly to her station, in no hurry at all. The moment she heard the theme announced she knew what she was going to make. She gathered all of her ingredients and worked quickly and in silence, cleaning as she went. This is how she cooked at home, it was really just about her.
She began to cook Jian Bing, chines breakfast crepes. Things were going smoothly, she had made this recipe about once before, and made crepes many times before. It would be easy.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••Gwen Bloom She quickly finished, plating on square stark white plates with a green swirl design in the corner. She had to care about presentation. She put on crepe with filling inside on each place, making four. She tested one for herself, she thought it tasted great. She could only hope the judges thought so. dish 1
