The rock man looked thoughtful.
"I SUPPOSE...
It lumbered off to one side, clearly still flummoxed by West's story.

As if to make up for the last two times, this time when West approached the slavering beast's area of the maze, it was far from asleep. The thing roared, and beady little eyes stared the wrath demon down, daring him to step closer. He shrugged, closing most of the space between himself and the creature before it struck.
"Whoa-ho!" West exclaimed, sidestepping neatly. "Nowwhy didn'tya sayso i'the first pla--AAAAAAAAA"
The beast cantered over, peering through the reeds covering its trap door and parting its lips in what might have been a smile before settling down for a nap.

"ARGHARGHAR-oh, it's you." The imp stared up at Malodore, a quizzical expression on its face as it froze, still clutching its splintered foot. "I saw you get out with the shiny. Why'd you come back? Miss me?"
"No," Malodore said flatly, plucking the splinter out with its tweezers. "I require further samples."
The imp shook its head, clearly doubting the plague doctor's sanity. "See you in a few days, then."
"You really should try wearing shoes," Malodore called after the imp as it dove through the hedge. "... Never mind."

The boulder opened one eye, squinting at Malodore. "What?"
"-The happiest little elf capered across the snowfield-" the plague doctor began, but its 'story' was cut off by the sound of the boulder heaving itself to one side, rolling what passed for its ears into the hedge.
That worked.

The plague doctor could hear the beast snorting and snoring... it was fairly sure by now that this creature was actually one of Breck's hounds, though it wasn't going to stop and examine it should it see it once more!
Thankfully, there was no flash of white and red... this time...

... Silence. The center of the maze was still once more... Malodore crept forwards towards the purple orbs, still sitting in their container. Maybe this time it could grab more than one...

-the instant its fingers closed around a single orb, that damnable spectral thing screamed into the formerly peaceful clearing! Malodore swore and ran, clutching its prize close. At least it had this one...

There was a gleam of determination in Riley's eyes today. She had brought herself to the class with all the tools she felt were necessary to make it, and she was not about to fail once more. She stepped into the maze, and dropped down swiftly to look the imp in the eye.
I'm going to make it, this time.
"Sure you are, kid! Just get this splinter out."
As Riley plucked the splinter from the imp's foot, she had to ask - Do you self-mutilate yourself daily or are you really this careless?
This question left the imp speechless for a moment, and although Riley stood up and started to walk off, clearly not expecting an answer, she got one.
The imp yelled at her back as she departed it's company. "ALL I EVER WANTED WAS MY MOTHER TO LOVE ME!!" He promptly burst into tears, and she could still hear him sobbing even as she turned a corner and he was out of sight.

We meet again, boulder.
"THE BOULDER WISHES FOR A STORY", the stone somehow roared out. How did it speak with no mouth? That was a clever trick, she wished she could learn it.
I'll tell you a story, all right. Once upon a time there was a ghoul named Riley. She pulled from her backpack a large, menacing looking hammer. This girl Riley was trying to get to class, but a boulder was in her way. So she found a hammer, and-
The boulder slid smoothly out of her path. I thought so. She moved on.

Riley could hear that wonderful creature not too far away. It sniffed the air, and growled - she knew it was aware of her presence. She pulled her newest idea for handling her friend - a stink bomb - out of her pocket, and hurled it far off to the other side. Once the smoke began to filter everywhere, a keening screech filled the air. The creature, disoriented from the smell, could be heard trampling around randomly. Riley was in the clear to sneak through this part of the maze without ever having to deal with the damn thing.
A shame, though. It might have made a nice mount.

This was Riley's first time being this deep in the maze, and she was alert as ever to what she could find. Coming up in front of her, she could see flashes of purple, but she was more interested in that whistling sound. Her eyes rolled left to right cautiously as she closed in on the orbs, not really noticing the decor of the room disappearing. She felt a tingle creeping up her back, and the sudden idea that reaching out and grabbing one of the purple balls before it was too late was probably a good idea.

Quote: Roll 1- If you roll a 11-100, you pass and can go on to round two. (RP meeting the below obstacle) Upon entering the maze you meet a tiny little imp, seemingly injured and whining at you for help. The imp is green in color and maybe only 2 feet tall. It is thin and looks as if they have a splinter in their foot. (If you roll a 11-100 you can do whatever you like, help or not, and you still pass. Ah, here she was again at the entrance of the maze. This time however she was not going to let herself be chased off by an irate little imp. In fact, she passed the suffering little creepy by this time with barely a second glance. He'd be receiving no aid from her this time aorund, not after his last little tantrum.

Quote: Roll 2- If you roll a 26-100, you pass and can go on to round three. (RP meeting the below obstacle) Awwh you made it past the little imp with no troubles! You should feel high on life (even if your hearing weird noises all around you that sound like things that want to eat you.) Walking further along something blocks your pathway. It is large and...reminds you oddly of some huge stoney bolder. Only this one moves. It tells you that in order to get past you need to tell it a story or a riddle.. and if it approves it will let you pass. ( if you roll a 26-100 it will like your story and let you pass. Lips pursed, the marid stood with arms crossed just before the giant.. not-a-boulder. She still wasn't sure what exactly it was, but it was most certainly NOT a boulder. It liked stories, right? Or riddles? "I have two hands, but have no legs, I have a face, but no eyes, or nose, I can tell you things, but cannot speak. What am I?" She aited patiently as the not-a-boulder puzzled over her riddle, and when it shrugged, she smiled. "A clock." Surely it must have liked her riddle, for it moved out of the way for her.

((Winning roll! 6))
She was right. Just as she'd grabbed one of the purple orbs, and turned to leave, she encountered the creeping presence of an angry ghost horse with large glowing green eyes.
Oh.
Her hand reached behind her, and she grabbed a second ball, flinging it off in some random direction. Oh, what's that? As the ghost scuttled away to follow the ball, Riley ran off with her prize. Snatch'd.
Ghosts. So gullible. She could still hear it howling as she ran off to exit the maze. Or maybe that was the larger creature, still dealing with stink bombs. She neither knew nor cared. She was going to get an A for sure, and that was all that mattered.

Quote: Roll 3- If you roll a 51-100, you pass and can go on to round four. (RP meeting the below obstacle) You hear a deep rumbling growl of something near you. It sounds as if the noise is in the pathway next to you... but after pausing and holding your breath, you can somehow tell the creature has sensed you and is looking for a way to get over to you. A flash of white and red through the foliage of the maze tells you its something large... and mean. Oh the beast.. How could she have forgotten that? Freezing, she held her breath, hoping the growling would pass her by and wander off to some new part o the maze, preferably far away. She'd managed to escape it the first time, she could again, right? Wrong. Turning, she came face to face with a mouth full to the brim with razor sharp teeth and dripping droll. Shrieking, the ghoul turned tail and ran, aiming for further into the maze, but a wrong turn somewhere had her crashing right through a thin line of hedge and clear out of the maze. Getting to her feet, Yaya raced all the way back to the dorms.
