"It still distracts them from things that are actually important. Which don't include me." Jane finished speaking, frowning at his injuries. He had abruptly decided that he wanted to get up now. Sliding his feet towards the floor, he was happy when nothing reopened, or at least as far as he could tell.

Clicking his tongue, he eyed Jane closely. "Oi, don't you get it? You are important! And don't get up, you are definitly not ready to just yet. You move much more and you'll reopen something." Standing as if he were going to force Jane back down, he stopped himself. "Bah, whatever." Sitting back down, he crossed his legs again and closed his eyes, sighing. If the boy wants to be stubborn, fine.

The elevators doors dinged as they opened in front of her, the wheels making that soft sound as they rolled against the linolium floor. She heard Roran say something faintly in the distance of the corridors, but she was too focused on the time bomb on her lap to think much of it. It was too muffled for her to make out much anyways. A letter. From them. Wtf do they want? They have to know the implications of such a notice getting left conveniently for me to find. Why?

She didn't even really notice that she managed to stand on her own when she got out of the wheel chair to crawl back into bed. Taking the coffee cup mechanically, she just kept staring at it dumbfoundedly. She just couldn't believe it. Sipping at her coffee, she found it had grown cold which made her frown, twitching as she saw a body get wheeled from the place she had heard the beeps from earlier.

Snapping her from her trance, she recoiled violently in her bed, almost kicking the sheets clear off. The mug went flying and shattered on the floor, her hands gripping the side rails of her bed tightly as if it were the only thing to hold onto. Her knuckles went white, her eyes growing wide as she felt memory flashes, twitching. Her datapads had clattered to the floor too, the bot already moving to pick them up and place them aside as nurses came rushing over to get her calm. "LET ME GO!" She snapped, struggling against their grip despite how it tugged at her wounds. "I said, LET. ME. GO!!!!" She bellowed, the lightbulbs shattering overhead both over her booth as well as the next five over, casting them into shadow.

One of the monitors near her sparked and went fritzy before shutting off, it's innards fried. The bot had the nurses let her go, the power flowing through her coiling and uncoiling, lashing out in a frenzy as she felt all her negative emotions feed it. She felt more and more empty, as if her essence were getting sucked into her abilities, like whenever she had to summon her staff. As if her soul were getting cut. She saw a flicker of movement and thought she heard wing beats before she felt the overflow begin to subside slowly, her arms trembling with how tightly she held that railing. It almost didn't seem human the position she was now twisted and coiled up into. God she hated hospitals. She was still unstable though, for the moment simply glad she had a hold on her powers since she had thrown an empty bed next to her into one of the walls. She didn't want to destroy or harm anything or anyone because she was having issues.

Jane laid back down easily, only to try to get Roran to calm down. "How, exactly, am I important?" He asked calmly, in attempt to prove his own point.

"You're extremely important." The boy obviously thought he was clever. "For one, you're a valued member of this team. You complete the team in ways none of us imagine. Your powers are something no one else has. That makes you important too. You're one of a kind." Eyeing the boy sternly, he sighed. "Plus, you're our friend, and that makes you more important than you'll ever real-"

Nico was going crazy in her bed. Jumping to his feet when the lights went out and a bed crashed into the wall, he growled, kicking the bot away too, he was at her bedside. Placing a hand on her shoulder, he shook his head. There's only one thing to do...god dammit. Taking a step back, he closed his eyes, pointing his palms at her. Taking a deep breath, he began to drain her life. He wasn't shortening it in any way, though that is possible, but rather sucking any energy she were to currently have, out of her. If he were to take enough, she'd calm down. She could even pass out, but when someone is this violent, well, sacrificing one for the many is fine. Especially if the one is Nico.

Feeling the energy enter his body, it was like swimming...swimming in the river of their life energy. But he didn't need to swim, for he was the god of these waters. Engulfing himself with her life, he felt his body begin to tire. "Damn these side affects," he growled, keeping his eyes closed in concentration. Had he been fighting he'd not close his eyes, for he wouldn't pull something off that was this delicate, he'd just kill. But he did everything he could to not hurt her, but rather to only weaken her currently.

Minutes passed, but they felt like days. His legs had begun to shake. Due to the delicate nature of this action, he was weakened much faster. He was stubborn however. He couldn't allow her to harm anyone...she'd never forgive herself. It is this stubbornnes, though, that will be his downfall.

A few moments later, Roran's world went black, his body crumpling over onto the floor. He had attempted to drain her until he himself was so tired he passed out. He had no clue whether he succeeded or not, and it was too late now. Sprawled on the floor, Roran was out cold, only enough energy left in him to keep him alive.

Jane frowned as he realized that Roran was actually right. Darn it...that meant he was wrong. About yet another matter. What was up with him and being wrong recently?

He was snapped instantly out of his reveries as he saw Nico going crazy. Not good... Roran might have been doing something on his own, but Jane wasn't about to let Roran try to do everything on his own. After a moment, Jane concentrated on Nico, concentrated on the emotion that was calmness...joy... It was difficult, as it was hard to remember it. But he could remember going to the garden with her. That was joy, right? He would have to go with it.

His eyes watched Roran carefully, wishing he could do something to weaken the pain that Roran must be feeling. But no, he'd have to worry about Nico if this could work. Shoot, why was everything this hard?

Jane frowned as Roran crumbled to the floor, hoping that together they'd successfully calmed Nico. He continued, however, to concentrate on giving her positive emotions, whatever he could think of. There was one he absolutely avoided. That, he felt, would be rude to her. Still, he fed the rest into he, hoping it would work.

Amidst the whirlwind of the power struggle within her, Nico could hear that laugh growing louder and louder, till it almost sounded as if the person were next to her. "Very good. Yes, I think an intervention is necessary...." Go away! Who- She felt pain rake down her back as if she were getting clawed, her eyes flying open as she thought she could hear wind. She was splitting in ways she didn't know were possible, not even realizing she was crying out in pain.

Though, she began to feel the pressure, the entropy, all of it begin to fade. As if it were being sucked away..... The blackness swam away from her eyes, the hazel and white beginning to return as she saw Roran with his palms facing her though he seemed tired. Wherever her mind had gone, it snapped back into focus as she tried to get a grip on what was happening. The curtains to her bed were torn as if tons of birds had clawed right though them, not even remembering that she had done that. Weaker... she felt weaker..... The sensation of wind whipping around her faded, the world returning to it's fragile equilibrium.

She then felt a happiness she could not explain and it confused her but she could not deny it. "Roran stop!" She spoke, making as if to move to physically do it, but she found her body as if it were frozen. The more he pulled, the more she sank towards her bed as blood dripped from her wounds. And then the happiness again. When Roran crumpled, she felt the tugging stop, panting as her hands relaxed on the railing. The metal was melted she found, and startled yet she was giggling?

God she felt so weird right now. She still felt the loss of her soul, or at least that was the best she could describe it, the emotions Jane fed her sort of filling that hole. Once the fit of giggles subsided, she felt her body unlock, the grip upon her fading. The nurses were looking at one another with fear and confusion. What the hell were they going to do? One ran to make a phone call, the other just stared at Nico dumbly. "Don't just stand there, get him into a bed! NOW!" She attempted to say with force, but she just felt so light. As though she had been at a wonderful dance or something.

Her back continued rippling with it's unexplained pain, her eyes now turning to Jane as the one nurse startled into action. She felt herself smile though her mind was still spinning with what she had done, with what had to be done to stop her. "I'm ok now. Thank you both and I'm so sorry." She spoke with calmness. She was not fit to be leading right now. Not at all. Maybe she should step down until whatever was wrong got sorted out. She now laid there in bed, unable to move with positive emotions flooding her systems like endorphins. Though her mind was just numb at this point. She didn't realize it, but her wounds were fully healed, though the trail of red from when they were bleeding still clear on her sheets and through her hospital gown.

A black world. Void of everything. This is the nothingness. Empty space is all that he'll ever know. That's how he feels at least. Nothing but darkness. Nothing but nothing itself. He feels like he's floating. He always feels like he's floating when he's here, drifting amidst the black. Unable to move, always unable to move, he can't even check to make sure he's even there, or if he's a part of the nothingness. All he can do is float. All he can ever do is float. But float might be the wrong word. He's not traversing a gentle river, but rather he's in space. That's the float he feels. Drifting may be more appropriate. He's drifting, that's it. Drifting.

His eyes opened slowly, but the moment they do so he closes them tight, the light burning his retinas. "Gah," he moans out in pain, the burning sensation not going away. Sitting up, he moves his legs to hang over the side, his feet feeling the floor beneath them. Keeping his head down, he attempts to open his eyes again, this time succeeding. Staring at his shoes, his head still burns, but he shakes it off. Standing, he realizes he's still in the medical wing. "O...i?" Looking around, he feels as if something is off. It takes him a moment to realize he's just tired still. His body went to standby mode, passing out with only enough energy to keep him alive, but unconcious. He had regained enough energy to wake, but he was not at full potential.

He then remembered why he had to pass out, why his energy got used up. "Nico," he spoke softly, hoping the girl was okay and not beating herself up for this. Clenching his fist, he shakes his head again, warding off the fatigue. Taking a couple steps, he feels weak, but that doesn't matter right now. Walking through the ward to find his teamates, he realized they may not be there anymore, and he stopped in the middle of the ward. How long had he been out? For all he knew it could be days later, and they could be off doing something. The feeling of sudden defeat crashed over him. Lowering his eyes, he stared at the ground, trying to figure things out.

Jane looked at Nico, sighing when she settled down. Almost instantly, he lost his concentration- and he didn't have enough to make sure the nurses didn't feel his pain. And so, he was glancing about as he cringed. "It isn't...your...fault..." He groaned, looking at Nico again. "Sometimes memories, I suppose, get the best of us." Sure, for Jane they just made him collaspe, but that was for the startle that they gave him.

His brilliant orange eyes shone brightly as he continued to look at her. A gentle grin was on his face, even as he cringed. How it was possible would be a surprise to anyone. He could have a smile on his face and be in the worst pain- and no one would know the difference if he could actually do something to hide the pain. Right now he was suffering because he'd used up a lot of energy trying to feed those emotions to Nico at the same time as Roran drained some of her energy.

"By the way, I'm sorry- I suppose I was a little too forceful with those emotions." Jane sighed gently as he looked at Nico again. His eyes glanced out, just barely making out the figure of Roran. Who was looking at the ground confused. Right. Wait- was that how he looked when he spaced out? Wow...right. "Roran?" He called over somewhat loudly.

As Jane's influence ebbed away, Nico blinked twice, taking a breath as she exhaled slowly, closing her eyes as the emptiness in her chest became more apparent. She still felt that raking feeling down her back, glancing around though she dared not look at that datapad for long. Not yet.

Touching her head, it was still numb, only then realizing that it was her "bad" arm. Huh? She tried to piece together what had happened, twitching violently as she remembered what had triggered the whole event. Closing her eyes for a moment, she took a deep breath, looking now to her two team mates who were there with her. Jane seemed fine, still injured, but fine. Roran looked space out. But that was to be expected. God.... she did not deserve to lead them. True they all had memories that could cause such things, but as a leader she should not allow herself to be so out of control and threaten everyone, especially her team mates like she had moments before.

Hearing Jane speak, she turned her gaze back to him, the numbness of her body growing more intense. "No it's ok.... I was in a serious state." She mumbled, brushing her hands through her bangs to part them. Now she looked to the mess she had caused, her jaw tightening a little bit. Swinging her legs over the side, she startled when the railing around her bed snapped because it had been so weakened at those two points, carefully standing on her two feet. She walked a bit, exhaling slowly. Tightening her dress around herself, it was sort of like robe of sorts, leaving no exposed back like they used to.

"Roran, I'm so sorry for putting you in a position where you had to exert yourself so. However, I thank you. If you hadn't intervened I'm not sure what would have happened." She said softly, the nurses still giving her a rather clear berth. Maybe next time they'll remember I do horribly in hospitals and just put me in my room. Her expression softened a little though it was clear she remained troubled. Maybe she should have a word with Catherine and Richard..... She was sure they had probably received reports, but could they seriously think that she still deserved the right to lead a team?

After a few moments of staring at the ground, everything came back to him. Luckily, there was only a lapse of a couple of minutes. No wonder I still feel weak. Hearing his name, he looked over at them. Nico didn't sound like herself. Cocking an eybrow, he looked at her semi-sternly. "No apology is necessary. You're a part of the team, that makes you important enough to justify such an exertion." Glancing at Jane, that was more geared toward him, to finish off their previous argument. "But I know what you're thinking," he eyed Nico again, "and if you keep those thoughts up, you'll wind up making yourself correct." Turning his back to her, he headed towards the door. "If you're serious about not wanting your position anymore, fine. I'll take it. Because someone who doesn't feel qualified isn't qualified. This isn't some game Nico. This is war. And doubts will make killing you so much easier." Reaching the door, he pushed it open. "So get you're act together." Leaving the ward and his teamates behind, he had to take a nap. If he didn't he'd wind up collapsing again.

Struggling to his room, he was nearly crawling when he reached his bed. Using the last of his energy to climb up onto the mattress, he relaxed, closed his eyes, and let sleep ensnare him.

Jane flinched at the first thing that Roran had said. "Even when he is talking to you he manages to lecture me." He said, looking at Nico. "But I must agree with him. Although, I think you are the best suited of us to be leader. What, with me without memories, and Roran fainting all the time for who knows how long...and the rest of us disappearing into thin air seemingly, for how much you see them, you really are the best off." He grinned at her, finally able to hide his pain again. In fact, he'd managed to make himself forget about it.

So he stretched. Ouch! Forgetting about pain- not his best idea. Hm... his eyes looked over his body, relieved to see that nothing opened. "Hey, I'm getting better." He remarked, as if it were a miracle.

Nico looked up as he spoke, glancing between the two men since she felt like there was a tension between them or something at the very least. Though, she refocused more when he eyed her, currently beginning to collect her weapons and gear along with the datapads so she could go to her room now that she could. Lowering her eyes, she shouldered her holsters, for the moment glad she was sort of numb. Otherwise she wouldn't be sure how she'd feel or react to his words. Though there was one thing she knew for sure. She already knew this was god damn war. Her mouth tasted bitter, her jaw tightening again. Tough love. It did give a good push if one didn't take it too personally.

Still, once Jane spoke, it made her blink. Eh? Well, true, at this point she was among the most physically well of the team. Though it wasn't like she had seen the others either. She just appeared tired as the one corner of her mouth tilted up in the slightest, though perhaps it was merely a trick of the moment. As she stood there like that, it almost seemed like there was an older woman floating with flowing fabric hiding most of her face, gripping Nico's shoulder. It was a dark sight to be sure. But as soon as it was there, it was gone.

Once Roran left, she took a moment to gather her thoughts, standing there staring at the floor. She felt a slight twinge of pain from him, making her look up to him. She noticed his movement, and his excitement to the fact. "Still, I wouldn't move around too much. Once Roran wakes up, we've got business to attend to. So, stay still and keep resting up. I'm glad you're feeling better though. I'll be in my room if you need me Jane." She said softly, now walking past a doctor and nurse to go back to her room. When they made to stop her, she merely gave them a calm look, but it obviously had an effect because they immediately stopped and let her go. With that, she walked to the elevator and went towards their dorms.

Jane watched as Nico walked out, sighing. Of course she wanted him to rest; why wouldn't she? His intentions, as usual, didn't include resting. Sure, he'd lay here for a few minutes longer, but he wanted to get up. Get up and get fencing. He glanced at his rapier, smiling widely. Yeah, that's where he'd rather be. Dueling. Perhaps just ten more minutes of laying here before he could convince him he was just plain fine, and he could move. He could fence. So what if he still was injured? He was healed enough to stretch, which meant in turn that he was well enough to fence. He blinked twice now, glancing about again. A nurse was approaching him: why was she approaching him? He wasn't hurt- at least, he wasn't showing it. So why was she coming. She went for the pain reliever machine. Oh no, no she shouldn't. Don't turn it on, don't turn it on, don't turn it on. He wanted to be fully aware right now. He wanted to fence!

She flipped the switch on. Lovely. How long would he be fully aware? He wasn't sure. His eyes glared at her lightly as she frowned. Her voice rang out, telling him that he needed to rest; he needed to stop moving so much. What did she know? She was just a stupid nurse! Oh, right... She was a nurse. That's what she knew. A lot more than him when it came to medical stuff. Or was it just that someone had tipped her off that by now he'd probably be getting antsy. After all, now he was more than well enough to move. Hey, pretty colors. No, no, no, no! Concentrate. No losing- pretty light. FOCUS! His eyes turned, their brilliant orange slowly becoming hazy as they searched for whichever tube was being used for the pain reliever. Where is it, where is it? Then he realized: he hadn't been paying attention when she gave him the pain reliever. She'd given him one of those pulse things, and a shot of the pain reliever. Meaning that there was no way of easily getting rid of it. Eck.

He glared at a nurse that asked him why he wasn't laying himself back down from where he was sitting. "I'm fine, that's why." His voice was a hard tone that was rarely heard from Jane. The nurse was visibly startled, and she ran out of the room. What? Had he said something wrong? What had spooked her? All he said was that he was fine- oh, pretty lights. They were so shiny, colorful. Fingers reached out to try and grab the light, but he missed. Come to Jane, lights. The room spun itself around him. Hey, it was shrinking now. Now it was growing. Wait, wait! It was like a fun house in here! Jane burst into a loud laughter that echoed down the halls. Dancing lights, pretty music. Wait- when did the music start? Think...think...think...nothing. Another burst of laughter. Hey, it was back! Realizing that it seemed to play every time he opened his mouth, one continuous and loud stream of laughter began to flow from him. What was wrong with the nurses? They were freaking out about nothing. What were they doing? He was just fine, he didn't need to be held down. He wanted to get up and dance! "I wanna get up and dance!" He told them his thoughts, which made a couple bounce back before he went back to laughing.
