"Nice t' meet you, too, Alex." he said with a smile. Yup, this definitely not the canon I'm used to . . . then again, with my luck, I'd get shot out of a "canon" if I ain't careful. he thought, the joke in his mind as he walked in.
"Rachel Ray? Huh . . . I oughta show Arell that!" he said with a smile. He figured while the big Cajun wasn't there to kick his a**, a few jokes on his expense wouldn't hurt, right?

Alex blushed slightly and moved to allow the man inside. "Never took Home Ec in school." she admitted. Honestly, she skipped the better half of her highschool years. "Cooking anything that's not extra done isn't my thing." she continued, closing and locking the door back up nice and tightly.

"Neither did I . . . well, I did, but I forgot." he said as he walked in, watching her close and lock the door. "Could be a lot worse though." C.J. said. To say he was a good student would be a lie . . . he was just a lucky BS-er.

"I suppose you're right." Alex said with a small grin. "I mean if we didn't have fast food or microwaveable I'd probably starve." Once the door was all locked up, she turned and headed towards the kitchen to help everyone unpack.
Two small hands suddenly tugged on one of CJ's, and pulled it towards the kitchen. Ally was standing there, staring up at him with a huge smile. "Come on! See my drawings!" she said, tugging him towards the kitchen.

"Same here . . . half the time we eat in, it's more or less 'Arell sets the kitchen on fire and we get Chinese' . . . no big deal." C.J. said with a smirk, but smiled as Ally was tuggin' on him. "A'right, hon. I'm comin'." he said as he followed her.

"Looks like you made a friend. Hope you don't plan on leaving any time soon." Alex said with a smirk as she followed them in.
Inside the kitchen, Misty was busy stacking groceries in the higher cabinets while Eric handed them to her. He glanced over as his sister brought the stranger into the room, and retreated to the other side of his mother. As Ally tugged CJ past them and to the mass of crayon pictures that may have been a refrigerator at one point, Eric squeezed his way around Misty's legs and around to the other side of her to avoid them.

"I got time." C.J. said with a smile, looking over the work. He enjoyed it, but looked over at Eric, smiling a little bit, as if to say "don't worry, I don't bite." He also looked at Misty with a smile. He was sure she looked familiar other than helping them get back here, but he didn't show it. He was enjoying being around kids.

Eric spotted him smiling down at him again, and once again he retreated behind his mother. "He's overly shy around strangers." Misty apologized, putting the last of the cans in the cupboard. "And Ally's overly outgoing. Wish they both had a middle ground sometimes."
Actually, she wished that Ally was more like Eric. She knew why he was overly shy around older men...over hearing a conversation she had with warp about the children's father.

C.J. smiled. "It's alright. It's the night an' day thing with kids like that." he said smiling. He was pretty easygoing with things. However, he wasn't quite aware about the missing father. He knew that there had to be a guy in the past, but could not deduce for the life of him who it was.

Misty smiled and glanced down at her son, nudging him. "How about you grab the silverware and help set the table?"
Eric looked up at her, gave CJ another nervous glance, then cautiously moved towards the drawer he needed to pull out the silver wear. He opened the door and stood on his tip toes to try and reach inside the drawer to get to the silver wear. Misty began grabbing the plates as Alex busied herself with getting dinner out and ready.

"You can if you'd like to." Misty replied, looking back at him with a small smile. "I'm sure Eric could use some help reaching the table and getting the silver wear set out."
The little boy's eyes widened, and he suddenly stopped pulling out forks and spoons to look up at the man.

Eric looked at the hand of silver ware hesitantly, then looked up at C.J. Cautiously, he took the silver ware from the man, keeping his eyes on the man's face.
Seemingly deciding that the stranger wasn't...as scary as he thought...Eric's tense posture relaxed just a bit.

C.J. smiled. See? I'm not as bad as ya think. I just look mean. he thought as he helped Eric set the table. Unfortunately, like the author right now, C.J. also had "Workin' in a Coal Mine" by Lee Dorsey stuck in his head all day. Oy . . . I really hope the other three canons are doing go- wait, gotta watch the fourth wall. I may miss something here! he thought.
