((He is. Remus wouldn't have switched shells if the Window was going to be a big problem for Golden Gladiator.))
"Affirmative." Remus nodded in reply. He was glad that his emotionless metal visage would cover up his fear. Fear was an emotion that the Imperator didn't like to show. To him, it would have been a sign of weakness.

The nobles both nodded, Emma still trying to shake off the dizziness that her battle had left her with. Her powers were severely depleted after that. A ward slid quietly into place, cast by both of them. Neither lord nor lady wanted Remus' shell exploding inconveniently due to their presence.

Chris nodded and finished the bar off as fast as she could. "Thanks hun, Though after we get Kaokie back I'm taking everyone out to eat." If she was going to take James might as well take them all.

Spent my days with a woman unkind, Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine. Made up my mind to make a new start, Going to california with an aching in my heart.

They would all enter, and the same process would be repeated, if with an awkward outcome. For the first time, they would come out of the water into thin air, but still almost seamlessly. James stood a pace, wondering how that worked, but they soon found themselves on the spaceship.
The group would find it to be the SWS Ares, the second most powerful ship in the Grecian Fleet, and the ship that this universe's Kaok had been living on in the five years since the final battle in the war for the throne - which the Resistance had lost in this timeline. After a bit of explanation on the group's part, Kaok managed to look over the fact that Emma was 'dead' and Hrothbert was 'missing presumed dead' - though what seemed hardest to explain was Remus' appearance as the Golden Gladiator, for some reason.
Kaok, an officer of the Fleet-wide Spartan Police Department, was called to the scene of a crime before she could tell the group whether or not she'd seen the Faun they were looking for. On a whim, the group followed her and found what was the first of a promised number of serial killings. The killer vowed to murder one victim a day from a list found at the scene until someone had 'the balls to assassinate Admiral Istaelos'. On that list was a certain 'R. Fletcher', which did seem to worry Kaok very greatly - but she ran away from the place where Remus was.
Following her to her quarters, they discovered the three year-old boy, Robin Fletcher. Kaok begged the group to stay and help her and they couldn't refuse. After chasing down leads and just barely saving another of the victims, the killer was caught, and Robin kept safe. The other Faun, however, was never found.
And so they made their way back through the part of the ship that they had come through in, and found themselves back in the lab, with only one more possibility showing on the Window.Someone told me theres a girl out there With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair. Took my chances on a big jet plane, Never let them tell you that theyre all the same.

"One more." Emma whispered, water pooling around her skirts as it dripped from her hair.
There was silence from Hrothbert. The sorcerer was fidgeting with his sleeves, pulling them down reflexively to cover the tiniest hint of a scar.
"I'm scared." Emma said even more softly.

Remus came out of the Window behind the nobles. Water dripped from his body or beaded up on the surfaces. The automaton opened some cabinets and found some a small can of oil. Remus put a few drops on his joints so that they would be protected from the water during the next trip through. He knew that the dark room was all that was left. He was scared, but he knew they had little choice. The rest of the group didn't seem too happy about it either.
"I'll go in first." Though it was a courageous statement, Remus was screaming on the inside. He was glad that his monotonous voice couldn't waver the way it would have in his human shell.

Chris came out and found herself shaking, Clutching onto James. She was terrified of were they would go next, The room.. "Oh gods..I hoped it wouldn't come down to this." Chris was trying not shake, But she kept shuddering at the idea. "We have to get her out." "James and I will go in next, I want to get it over with."

Evros configured the Window, setting up the dark room in its waters - which looked just as terrible as the place inside. James nodded to Chris, but there was still a large lump in his stomach. Catherine, on the other hand, was afraid not only because of the room, but the fact that she wouldn't be her own person for much longer.
"You can enter in, Emperor."Someone told me theres a girl out there With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair. Took my chances on a big jet plane, Never let them tell you that theyre all the same.

I promised you a corner of her mind and you shall have it. Emma's voice echoed in Catherine's head. The enchantress stood by even as her husband stepped forward, still giving Remus the right of first entry but fully intending to go in second.
She stayed back, wavering. One last look at the human half of Kaok steeled her resolve. Emma took a breath, straightened her posture, and lifted her chin.
"After you, Remus."

Remus nodded and the golden automaton entered the window. He didn't pause, for he know that if he hesitated, he wouldn't be able to do it. Sinking down through the water seemed like an eternity. He wondered if he would just sink forever into the abyss. Finally, he came out on the other side.

Through all of the water and the usual routine, he would come up... in the Window again. But the lab was dark, for all the lights were off. No one else was there anymore. Stepping out of the basin would land him right on top of something squishy - a certain elven doctor's corpse. Around his feet were the scattered remains of his friends - of Chris, the Enchantress and even Hrothbert. The very shell he was in now could be seen sparking out of control and quite out of commission.
Kaok, as she was when completely together, lay motionless near the Centrifuge - leaning over her was a taller, but nearly identical Faun. The exact one that they had been looking for. She had a sledgehammer in her right arm, and judging by the damage she had inflicted to Cairndeer at the beginning of this whole catastrophe, she was fully capable of having taken everyone of them out.
((I hope I don't offend anyone...)) ((Edit: Aaaand. I have to go.))Someone told me theres a girl out there With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair. Took my chances on a big jet plane, Never let them tell you that theyre all the same.

Both nobles emerged seconds after Remus, eyes widening at the scene before them. Emma was perfectly willing to ignore her own dead body, but-
"NO!" A hoarse, savage cry tore itself from her throat as she sprinted towards the silver-haired corpse.
"Emma!" cried the living Hrothbert, flinging out a hand. The enchantress stopped in her tracks, feeling herself pulled back by a spell.
They held on to each other for dear life as Emma shook from head to toe.

Remus wondered if they would survive this scenario. Seeing what had happened to the versions of themselves in this setting made him wonder. If Kaok's faun half slaughtered them all at once, she could do it again.
"But then again, this is all just an illusion. Maybe this is only her fantasy. Just because she killed us in this illusion, it doesn't mean she could defeat our real selves, right?"
The Imperator desperately hoped that this was the case.

When Chris and James arrived, James nearly stepped on his own dead self. And when he saw it, he nearly had a heart attack. And then there was everybody else's corpse - and the person they'd been wanting to find, too. Unfortunately, evidence suggested hostility.
"Did you do this...?" He asked the full Faun, hoping desperately that she didn't.
But the creature didn't appear to understand.
"Did you kill them?"
Still, nothing got through.
One would have to assume that she did it. But there was something wrong with that assumption - while she could certainly have been there a long time, all the time that they had been out and trying to find her, the bodies had been there for a while.Someone told me theres a girl out there With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair. It can't have been her.
Why not? Emma responded, a note of hysteria even in her mental tones.
Something calming flowed into her, and the enchantress took a few deep breaths. Think logically. Could she really have taken all of us out without getting a scratch on her?
She might-
Think about it.
