Alfred---Scarlet

The Gardevoir, more or less, drifted off in a light dose. He hadn't wanted to get out of bed to begin with but Scarlet had prodded him until he'd gotten up. He didn't have the drive to attempt anything normal anymore, what was the point of leaving the room when chances are he'd forget everything that happened within a short time frame anyways. He was too tired for it. The constant reminder of the lack of normalcy in his life was horrible, but he preferred it over even getting out of bed anymore.
Before he couldn't take being locked up and bed-ridden, but now he wanted it. So badly. He just wanted to sleep until everything was normal or maybe even never wake up.
He bit back tears again, sick of crying at this point. What good would it do, what problem would it solve. It only added onto the humiliation.
At the light tap on his arm he lifted his head and the sweet and cheerful Pokemon's very image killed his resolve to hold back the tears once more.
Once more degraded to a sobbing mess, he at least waited for the Pikachu to finish her comforting words before instinctly reaching out to pull her into an hug that was fortunately not tight or smothering. Alfred had enough insight not to squeeze the life out of Era despite the impulse to tighten the embrace if only out of misery.

"Oh my God." Scarlet had, luckily for them both, been just within ear[?]shot of the conversation behind the bookshelves nearby. The Flygon stepped forward and into view with an expression of great concern. Her goggled eyes were wide and filled with worry.
"If...if you don't mind..." She started, watching Era while flicking her tail in a nervous manner. "Could you keep an eye on him, for one second, I have to...have to go tell someone this..." Alfred didn't hear her, or notice here and she had to go tell the Scyther about this. Immediately.
There was an actual guildmaster here, but she didn't know him. She only knew Tolin and he would do.
Once she was met with approval on the Pikachu's part, she would turn and swiftly make her exit.

Era

Era's face bore a saddened smile as Alfred teared up yet again, and didn't hold back the saltwater drops of his agony. As the Gardevoir reached out to her and pulled her close to him in a hug that was tight but not unbearably so, Era's eyes widened for a fraction of a second in surprise that shortly after changed to something more tender than before. She couldn't really move much, but she moved her good arm to return the gesture although it didn't come anywhere near close enough to wrap around him as his arms did her. The Pikachu closed her eyes, figuring her thoughts to be enough for the moment. There was no need to say anything when everything had already been said.

At the sound of Scarlet's voice Era's ears pricked up and her eyes opened as she adjusted her position ever so slightly in order to see the Flygon even if it was out of the corner of her eye. The worry that her face so plainly wore spoke volumes before she even said anything else, and Era felt relief wash over her; someone else had heard, Scarlet could tell someone who it would make sense to, thank goodness. She'd been dreading having to find someone after this was over, but now it appeared she wouldn't have to. At the Flygon's query, Era nodded to show her consent; looking after Alfred for a while longer didn't bother her in the slightest, not that she could leave if she wanted to in the first place. As Scarlet took her rapid leave Era watched her go before shifting back to a less awkward position in Alfred's arms. He hadn't reacted at all to Scarlet so she was still being held tightly, likely not to be let go any time soon. She sighed slightly as she looked up into his tear-streaked face and lifted her paw to brush away a stray tear as it trickled down his cheek, "It's alright," she said to him, "It'll be alright."

Alfred

Scarlet's departure went unseen by the hysteric Gardevoir, or rather he was calming down to an extent.
His grip around the Pikachu loosened enough so that she could exit the hold whenever she felt the need to, though he hoped she wouldn't. Something about the Pikachu herself was just very comforting. Scarlet was nice, but he had to continually remind himself not to be afraid of the dragon. She was, afterall, a bit intimidating. What with the teeth and all.
The paws on his face only brought on another fresh wave of tears despite his protests, but the shudders and the feeling of drowning had all but subsided.
He closed his eyes, the Pikachu still loosely in his arms and pretty much perched on his lap at this point. Alfred inhaled slowly, trying to stop the sudden trembling nerves that threatened to break him into pieces.
Opening his eyes he seemed more calm and composed than previously, though that was quickly shot when the lights suddely went out without warning.
He flinched in alarm, every muscle in his body tensed in preparation to bolt, but he remained still if only because Era was sitting on him.
"Wh...what happened?" No more calm. Just terror. Blind terror.
Alfred's entire body kicked back into panic mode and he started shaking like a leaf once more in dread of what might happen. The guild never had a power outage before...not to his knowledge. Something told him it was bad though.

Era

Era noticed as Alfred's grip around her loosened but didn't pay it any mind, instead tightening her hug, or attempt at a hug as best she could. By now both of them were wet from the tears that poured down the Gardevoir's face though Era didn't mind. Tears were cleansing, they made the soul feel better. It was almost as though when you cried, the water washed away the sadness, made it easier to cope with; the Pikachu knew from her own experiences. As Alfred closed his eyes, recollecting himself, Era nestled herself against his chest in a way that kept her injured arm pressed lightly against her side so as to keep it from being moved in any sort of painful way. It was nice, and sort of soothing to her as well; breathe in, breathe out, let the stress go, it would be alright.

The peaceful sentiments were a lovely thing, but only for a few moments longer until the moment shattered as the light unexpectedly and completely vanished. As the jolt went through Alfred's body, Era turned her head back, eyes racing for some sort of sign of what could have happened. The windows that normally let in the sun were dark, and there was no light from anywhere around. It didn't take long for the Electric Type to change that, her wings which still had given off a faint glow brightened considerably, though it was a soft light that didn't hurt to look at, and around her neck the Volt Globe that she always wore began to sparkle with charged electricity that was being picked up through the Pikachu's body, though Alfred wouldn't feel it at all. The effect was a sort of halo of light surrounding the two, a soft glow that kept the darkness at bay for about two feet around in all directions. Many thoughts were racing through Era's mind; what had happened to her Team, was everything alright with the others, what could have caused all of this? She would likely have gone to find someone if she were in a different situation, but as it was she wasn't planning on going anywhere.

Alfred's question, followed by a quivering that she felt as it shook her too brought the Pikachu back from her thoughts. "I'm not sure..." she answered truthfully, "It looks like the power system must have failed." Era frowned slightly at the thought of it, this hadn't happened before, someone would have had to have manually shut it down, either that or it would have to have been completely destroyed, the thought of neither being particularly appealing. Alfred was still shaking uncontrollably as she thought about this and Era paused, turning back to look the Gardevoir in the eye. "Alfred," she said, "Here." The Pikachu used her good paw to grasp the back of the chain her Volt Globe and lift it off over her head. The shimmering orb rested in her paw for a moment before she transferred it to her useless paw and pulled Alfred's hand over to put his hand around it. "You can hold onto this alright? It'll give off light as long as you hold onto it." She smiled, "Just in case. I'm not going anywhere."

Alfred

It was a primal fear, the darkness. It wasn't the darkness itself but what it entelled. The darkness obscurred all, it blinded you from seeing what lay directly before you. All Pokemon, no matter who, fear it to some extent.
It was unknown, mysterious. It was terrifying, the darkness held no comfort when it was so unatural. He closed his eyes tightly as though it would ward of the inky blackness that closed in around them. When Era spoke he cracked open an eye wans was genuinely surprised by the sudden illumination from the Pikachu. More specifically her wings. Pikachu didn't normally have those did they? He was fairly sure they didn't. All fear subsided in favor of focusing on those shimmering wings. They were...bright, translucent. He had to resist the sudden urge to reach out and touch one just to see if they were real.
Although he knew wings did not belong on her species, they seemed oddly suiting. She, like her wings, had come out of nowhere and brightened a darkness. The glow was subtle, not overpowering, almost like golden moonlight.
Word sprang to mind, "L'étranger Éclairé Par la Lune" , it was an old fairy tale he suddenly recalled. He offered no translation for Era, too deep into his thoughts at the moment.
Of all the things to remember, he remembered a voice...a female's voice...speaking in a slow, yet calm manner as she read.
'It was dark in the land of Nyx. No light could pierce the darkness. It was eternal night. The creatures who lived there were all afraid to go outside, less the monsters out there eat them. One day a stranger came to visit, where they came from no one knew. The stranger wore a coat of silver that shown with the light of a moon.
The monsters ran in fear of this glow and never came back. Before the creatures of Nyx could thank their savior, it had gone. Legends still speak of this Stanger lit by the moon, who saved them from the monsters of the night.'

A sudden influx of information on the moon came flooding back. All he'd need was a little push...he supposed.
Few things are quite comparable to the full moon. The token beacon of the night, the full moon has been an object of superstition and mystery for centuries. That cunning orb has a magnetism that we cannot deny, an ethereal power that is beyond the scope of man's imagination to explain. People are never quite themselves on the night of a full moon. It seems to draw out those hidden melancholies that make life so interesting. Perhaps that is why so many stories are told that root back to the glorious sphere...
Alfred lifted his head from his musings, mercifully, as his hand was grabbed. He watched in silence as Era folded his fingers around the sphere. He turned his hand around, cupping the golden orb with curiousity. What was it? It had the same glow as her wings.
Was he holding a ball of moonlight? It seemed that way.
"Are you..." He started, rolling the sphere from one hand to the other. "...some kind of angel?"What would usually be some kind of lame pickup line with anyone else was phrased as a sincere question from him. That he even knew what an angel was was primarily because of the books he'd been reading like he was starved for knowledge. Which may have been the case.

Era

Alfred appeared to calm slightly, or at least he appeared to be struck silent and motionless by something or another. Era glanced back over her shoulder, wondering if he was looking at something behind her, but there was nothing to be seen behind her. That was when the Pikachu realized that he was looking a her with those awed eyes, and she shifted her eyes awkwardly, uncertain what to think. She wasn't used to being on the receiving end of any sort of looks like that, well except for by one person. The idea caused her cheeks to tinge slightly in a blush, and she wasn't sure what to say. The odd phrase that he'd murmured in words that she wasn't familiar with didn't help anything. She was flustered to say the least, and uncertain how to respond to such things as these.

When she had handed over the orb, she watched as he examined it curiously, seeming as enraptured by that as he had been with...well, her before. When he spoke again, Era's ears perked up in surprise and her eyes widened considerably. An angel? Me? the thought was astonishing to her. That someone could think that of her, just a normal Pikachu who'd been through a lot and had "earned her wings" so to speak. The strangest part about it was how sincere the question was, it was a genuine question that he wanted to know the answer to. The Pikachu thought for a moment how best to respond and she smiled a bit once more. "I'm not an angel," she told him, not trying to crush his dreams but rather to tell him the truth, "I'm just Era." She held onto the thought though, still quite flattered by the concept, and it caused her wings to gleam just a slight bit brighter.

It wasn't so bad to be alone in the dark with a friend and a light. Provided nothing was headed for them they would be fine here. The idea that something could very well be coming concerned the Pikachu, and she couldn't help glancing out a bit further through the darkness to make sure no one was there. There was only so much a single Pikachu could do when faced with something above their level, but she wasn't about to let anything get to Alfred, if in fact something was headed their way. For now though, all was quiet and still in the library, which set her mind at ease though she remained on her guard. "Light does wonderful things, doesn't it?" she said, turning back to Alfred, "When it's with us we don't ever have to be afraid. Darkness can't stand up to it." Just like us, she thought, Darkness can't stand up to us.

Ebony

Ebony's eyes narrowed, perched high above on the outside of the nearest window. Her small, graceful paws clung tight to the sill, cautious not to slip and fall. If she were to do so, it would mean her death; this, however, was not something that she either expected or thought likely to happen.
With the skill of an assassin, she forcibly clawed through the window, the powerful aura dissolving the glass cleanly around her strike. The whole process was completed without a sound, and she slipped inside, taking a few remaining glass splinters for herself. Now, without her precious sword, she was left without weaponry; improvisation was the best that she could manage.
She exhaled gruffly, the only sound she'd made since her arrival. Her father was displeased, and this was a fact that she hoped to remedy; before it cost her her own life.
Slinking along the top of the nearest bookcase, she made her way nearer to the sound of Alfred's voice, merging with the shadows in hopes of repelling his psychic energy. To be exposed now... her father would be furious. He didn't even know that she was here, as a matter of fact; it was dangerous. Beyond dangerous. Despite this, she hoped to overhear something that might be of use in regaining her father's favor.
When she caught up with Alfred, she felt genuine surprise spread through her; she had not expected the innocence that she now found in his behavior, nor the unusual traits of his companion. It was most interesting to see a winged Pikachu. It was more than interesting; it was abnormal. Though, she supposed that she couldn't really speak of such things, when she herself was so out of the ordinary.
It was quickly becoming evident that she wouldn't gain much from listening, however; Alfred's mind had deteriorated further than she had been informed of. He was once again in the mindset of a child. How shameful, for a father to be left without his sanity or memory.
She paused, wondering entirely what she could even do, here, without wasting her own energy. Going as far to reform from the shadows, she sat on the edge of the bookshelf, watching from afar. As long as she was quiet, it wouldn't make a difference, anyway. She was bored; what else was she to do?
One fire punch later, and her paw was alight in flames. The fire, in such a dry and unprotected environment, spread quickly. Tongues of flame licked up the spines of nearby books, and surrounding her in a dancing inferno.
Pleased, she melted into the shadows, the smoke beginning spill across the ceiling in a thick, dark wave. "Hello, dearies. Want to play a little game~?" Her voice was sickeningly sweet, openly taunting the pair within the library as she moved back toward the open window.

Alfred

Despite the dark, despite that ever present fear that something was amiss, Alfred was perfectly content here at the moment. It was an odd feeling, contentment. He wanted to bask in it, but at the same time was afraid the feeling would last too long. That was generally what happened...something good and...immediately after something horrible.
He watched the Pikachu closely, eyes drawn towards her wings more specifically. With the amount of light they let off it wasn't surprising they were his main focal point. The Pikachu still seemed to be on edge, though for that he couldn't blame her. The dark, despite this nice light source, was ominous. Past the ring of light emitted from the small electric type he could barely make out the bookshelves that he knew were there.
His ears flicked upward and then down again as she spoke, the motion only confirmation that he'd heard her.
Before he could reply a flash of reds and oranges lit up the room, the light spread and suddenly everything was once again visible, but at a bit of a cost."Wh-what-" No-no-no, good feelings gone now.
Fire, there was fire. The library was on fire. Suddenly he wanted to be back in the dark. Every nerve wound up, tensed to spring but the movement never came. He locked up frozen, stiffened with terror.
Any survival instincts when faced with such unknown was quickly lost in favor of hyperventalating, but the sudden influx of smoke did not make having a panic attack easy.
Flames danced before his eyes, he could feel chains on his wrists again, a collar at his throat. The Lopunny was forgotten in the obscure haze of memories that surfaced, drowning out even the crackle of the flames.
'You shouldn't have done that.' ' You broke the rules, you deserve this.'
The immediate panic was replaced with an almost comforting realization that this couldn't be real and that...if it was, "I deserve this."The Gardevoir raised his hands to his chest to clutch at the fabric of his front shirt, eyes widening and tears forming. Any attempts to try to escape the fiery chaos that had erupted around them was all but forgotten.
This had to be purposeful, there had to be a reason. This...this had happened before didn't it? It was vague, but he could remember it. The burning, fire, pain, abandonment, what had he done? Surely it had to have been something terrible to deserve this, especially a second time.

Era

A mere moment after Era finished her reply to Alfred an inexplicable chill ran down her spine as though in anticipation of something to come. The feeling she had, she couldn’t explain it, there was no rationality to it in the slightest; just the sudden sensation that something bad was about to happen, something that she wouldn’t be able to do anything about. Turning around swiftly, the Electric Type glanced about the room quickly, the motion mostly useless considering how dark it was, but one that she found necessary nonetheless. It didn’t help in the slightest, anything that may or may not have been in the shadows was completely hidden from the Pikachu’s view, but it didn’t stop her from trying to see through the darkness regardless. In moments she got her wish, though not in a way that she would have expected or desired.

Out of nowhere, a brilliant light came out of the shadows: firelight. Era’s eyes widened with a mixture of shock and dismay as the brilliant hues of red and orange licked up against the wood of the bookshelves, against the books themselves and began a rapid consumption of the delicate tomes that made the Library what it was. Light was a good thing, a gentle thing, something that wouldn’t do any harm. Fire was destructive and deadly, it preyed upon anything it could set itself on and was more than a little terrifying to a small Pikachu who was alone with a Gardevoir in a place where they would fall easily victim to the rapidly spreading flames if they didn’t do something fast. Her ears pricked up at the sound of the Lopunny’s voice and the panic on her expression quickly changed to something worse, full blown fear. She knew that voice; she’d heard it before and would likely hear it again. It belonged to the one Pokemon that she held as much fear for as she did Eridanus himself. Looking around with ever increasing uncertainty she tried to pinpoint the voice, but that task was neigh impossible what with the fire that blazed everywhere she looked. All the shadows looked just like shadows, and any dark-colored Lopunny that might be lurking there would certainly not be distinguishable from them, not by Era at least. The fact that she knew what had caused the fire didn’t help in the slightest; in fact it likely made it somewhat worse. Knowing what one was up against made things worse when one knew that they wouldn’t stand a chance. Still, Era knew that she couldn’t leave Alfred no matter what ended up happening, and she would stick to that even if it meant…she shook her head, clearing those thoughts from it. No, she would stay by his side, that was that.

Era looked back toward the Gardevoir and she felt her heart sink once again. Alfred looked terrible, worse than she did even. Something about the way that he gazed into those flames made his eyes look incredibly hollow, and she knew immediately that something more than the fire was troubling him. Flames alone were enough for worry, for panic even, but not enough to cause someone to look as hopeless as that. ”Alfred…” she said, her voice hinting at her concern as she looked him in the eyes and felt that he couldn’t see her at all. When he spoke, it was an affirmation of such, and Era’s face fell with worry and something that was starting to border on hopelessness herself. Putting her paw on his hand she shook her head, trying to drag him back from whatever nightmarish fantasy he was lost in. ”No Alfred, don’t say that,” she said, her voice a quiet plea, ” You don’t deserve this. No one deserves this, no one, do you understand?” He couldn’t believe that really, could he? Era felt a feeling of uselessness drag her down as the heat from the fire intensified. What was she doing? She was just a small Pikachu with a broken arm who was trying to stand up against something that she couldn’t even find. She felt terrible, more alone than she’d felt, perhaps ever. That loneliness was more smothering than the heat, than the fear, than the sadness. ”Come on Alfred…please…” she whispered quietly, though this time it was less than confident, as was she. They were sitting in a room that was being slowly consumed by flames and a psychotic Lopunny lurking somewhere in the shadows, it was all she could do to retain some semblance of not falling apart.

Ebony

Ebony's crimson eyes narrowed, straining to hear the voices of Gardevoir and Pikachu alike; the noise of the flames was more intense than the heat, she found. In any case, killing the pair of them was not the intention of her actions; causing mass panic and terror was a more accurate idea, in her mind. With any luck, it would also destroy any important sources of information for The Guild of the Sun.
Her claws tipped with deadly blades of swirling aura, she slashed at the window next to her own, open one. That, too, shattered, dissolving around the tips of her fearsome claws.
"Dancing shadows in my grasp, find the power I must have
Watch the flames lick up their spines, books and live ones both in kind"

Her voice was soft and airy, turning the someone grotesque little song into something to be feared by all. It was clear that she had a very morbid view of the world.
"Feel the ash beneath my feet, taste the blood so sickly sweet
I spread the flames and grow them high, listen to their fearful cries
The guilds so soon shall quickly fall, and I'll be queen of one and all"

Ebony tilted her head tauntingly, immediately darting back into the fire. The shadows could still defend her a while longer; she had to ensure any important guild records were burned. Or perhaps rescue anything that might be of use to her, instead~?
The Lopunny darted across the top of a bookshelf, dodging around the smaller fires and flying sparks that had begun to appear around the original source. It wasn't terribly difficult, with the training that she had. Within the space of a minute or two, she'd found what she'd been looking for, anyway. Prophecies.
She grabbed a few, shoving at least one book between her jaws, and the rest into the crook of her arm. Several books, files, and folders relating to classified information. She scanned through each one, her movements rapid and panicked. Anything relating to the current situation was to be taken and presented to her father. She swore, however, after finding nothing of the sort. Clearly, the Guild of the Sun had already taken a few preventative steps against this sort of thing. Anything that important would be kept well under lock and key.
She snatched a few other folders, which might be of interested, regardless, and took off toward the window once more.

Desmond & Tolin

Two figures appeared inside the library within just a few seconds of one another. The normal, humanoid figure of the Scyther known as Tolin sought out the Gardevoir known as Alfred whereas the massive, bird-like creature known as Desmond appraised the situation.
"Alfred! Alfred, where are you?"
Desmond took a quick sweep of the area. Find the attacker, find the problems, solve them.
He frowned when he recognized the foreign individual slipping out of the window. It was the damn Lopunny... he could chase her and kill her, but that would be bad. If she died it was game over and with her typing taking her alive would be difficult... he could try ripping off her limbs, but the risk of death was fair and the battle would be dangerous for all the parties involved. Desmond was quite a bit stronger than she was (after all, she was nothing but a b*****d child) but Lugia were renown for their ability to destroy.
That meant... deal with the fire first. He could chase her if she was still nearby afterwards.
Desmond's mouth opened and a small amount of water leaked out before he started blasting the library through and through with a jet of water. It would ruin some of the books, but it was better than letting the building burn. Minerva could bill Rebirth for the books later for all he cared.

Alfred---Scarlet

Scarlet was a few seconds behind the Scyther, having neglected to recall he could teleport which left her urgent run here completely uneccesary. She would have been annoyed had other matters not require her attention.
The library was on fire. No, she had only left a few moments ago! This was entirely her fault, she should have stayed with them. Panic quickly overtook any fear towards the flames and the Flygon dashed back past the bookshelves that were beginning to smolder under Desmond's attempts to control the blaze. She knew where she had left the Pikachu and Gardevoir and hopefully the two had stayed put.
"Alfred!" And that Pikachu...what had she said her name was? Ira? Lyra? Oh-oh-wait, "Era!"

What was Era saying? The Gardevoir couldn't hear her through the terrified pounding of his own heart, the sound streaming upward to thunder inside his head with deafening roars.
He stared forward, barely able to make out the bright, yellow Pikachu past the rim of tears that obscurred his vision. Alfred blinked and they spilled over the lids of his eyes down his face at a continous rate with no sign of letting up. It was only finding himself thoroughly drenched, why was it raining inside, that he glanced up in alarm and his ears flicked upward at the sound of his name shouted a few times in procession. The fire had died down to a few stray embers, the library filling with thick plumes of smoke that clung to the ceiling above as though coal-colored clouds.
"Thank goodness!" Scarlet's voice broke the silence and quickly made pace towards the two, but paused as her eyes caught the Lopunny making her escape. Her teeth were visible in a snarl as she redirected her goal to the window and sprinted towards it in an incredibly fast manne before tucking up her legs, spreading her wings, and soaring right out of it.
Alfred turned to watch her with wide eyes and a look of horror. No-wait! What was she doing!? The Lopunny was leaving, why was she following it! It'd kill her! "Stop her." He said, voice strained, though he spoke to no one in particular.

Era

He didn't understand, she knew it from the way his eyes remained dark and desolate and those hopeless tears began to fall again, making Era's ears droop with utmost despair. The fire had grown to even greater heights, and the crackling of the flames was loud to the point of paining her ears. She vaguely noted the shattering of the windows and the shady figure who pranced this way and that, singing her terrible song with a child-like tone that chilled Era to her core. She didn't want to be here, Arceus she'd come here to get away from the stress of her Team. That was a joke. The Pikachu would never have ended up in this situation if she hadn't come here, but there was nothing to be gained by regretting it now. At least...at least Phione wasn't here. It would break the little Pokemon's heart to see her as she was now. It was a fortunate thing that Alice had taken him with her and he hadn't had to be here for all of this. No, it was just her, just one little Electric Type with a terrified friend all alone in a deadly inferno with death staring them in the face and laughing.

Then, suddenly, just as everything seemed to be completely lost, and Era was trying to reconcile herself to the inevitable, there was a shout, a shout from a voice that was all too familiar. Life seemed to shoot back into the defeated Pikachu, her eyes regaining a slight bit of their sparkle and her ears perking straight up in recognition of the tone. Tolin! Yes, that voice couldn't belong to anyone but the Scyther, she knew his voice in an instant. If Tolin was here, then maybe...just maybe they would be alright. Soon after she recognized that Flygon's voice, Scarlet she'd called herself, and Era's spirits rose even more. Of course, responding to them was easier said than done, the smoke still made it hard to breathe and her throat was dry from how much she'd already spoken. "We're he-" she began haltingly, but was forced to stop as a hacking cough wracked her figure for an instant, stopping her from talking at all. As she gasped for breath, the most remarkable thing happened. Water. Water was suddenly dousing the fire that was all around them and that was when the Pikachu finally accepted that it would be alright. Scarlet's appearance reinforced that though, the Electric Type's expression lightening until she realized what the Flygon was doing. Era's thoughts were with Alfred's as he whispered that someone should stop her, nodding mutely. She tried to speak but nothing but a dry rasp escaped her throat. Swallowing with some difficulty, she regained her ability to speak although it was too late to do any good in regard to Scarlet. There was one thing however, that she could do.

Remaining where she was, her paw still on Alfred's clenched hands, she looked at him with a gentle gaze. "It'll be alright now Alfred, it'll be alright," she said steadily, in spite of the raspiness of her voice, trying to convince both him and herself. The smoke made it hard to see anything but suddenly there was a flicker, and the lights came back on as if to mock the scene that had taken place in their absence. Through the haziness that filled the room, Era looked out searching for the figure who was surely out there somewhere still. He wouldn't just leave, she didn't believe that. Looking once more at Alfred, she gently detached one of his hands from his shirt and held it in her paw. "We're alright now Alfred," she said gently, soothingly, "She's gone and they're here to see that it stays that way." She held his gaze for a moment longer before looking back through the haze and calling out to help their rescuer find his way. "Tolin!" she called out, as loudly as her voice would let her without breaking, "Tolin we're over here! Alfred's here!" Once Tolin was there things would be alright, she had to believe that. She couldn't keep up her shouting but she hoped it would be enough. With that, the Pikachu closed her eyes with a sigh, feeling wearier than she had in a while. When this was all over she would need a good long rest.

Desmond & Tolin

Tolin watched Scarlet dash off, cutting a clear trail through the smoke. That wasn't good.
"Make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. If there's any fire left the guild should be showing up soon... they'll take care of it."
Desmond took a quick glance around before nodding. Things were still smouldering... it might catch again considering how flammable the library is.
The guild would be here shortly though. Desmond blinked out of the room and took to the skies far above to keep a careful watch on Scarlet.
He heard something, then, something faint. He didn't recognize it at first, but the sound pulled him in the right direction.
He caught a glance of the Gardevoir's leg under the table and crouched under it to find him there with the Pikachu.
"Good job." The Scyther smiled. "Are you two alright?"

Alfred

Voices.

Slowly, reluctantly, he turned. What would it be this time? The voices grew louder, and he was dismayed to note that the source had been far closer than he had realized.
He twisted his hands, shifting them so he could hold Era's paws and glanced up as he noticed the Scyther, flinching in alarm. His eyes widened and his expression took on the look of a wounded animal, terrified and in pain. Tears rose quickly to his eyes again and the fear blinded him from recognizing Tolin immediately but even when the realization finally did hit his expression remained fearful despite such. His ears flattened, and he glanced once at Era before looking to Tolin. Arceus, he was tired. So tired. It was the only coherent thought he could pull to mind until his earlier understanding returned. Worthless. They wanted to get rid of him. They still did, the fire was proof enough. "I want to die.", he muttered out in a tone barely over a whisper. Immediately after the words he started to hyperventilate, but inhaling the smokey air at a rapid pace wasn't exactly the best of ideas and he quickly cut off into a coughing fit the escalated into a sudden wave of nausea. His head spinned, the room warped into a medley of colors and twisted shapes before his head met the floor. I believe that would be a no to Tolin's previous question.
