He shrugged nonchalantly. "I wanted to see how Phobos would do. Needed to make sure he didn't go to someone like you, obviously. Shoulda known he's smarter than that, even if you aren't." He eyed her. She was kinda cute when she was all angry.

Cuwen Professor Markums tilted her head to the side, letting her blond hair fall over her shoulder in long curly tendrils. "Well, there are side effects that could develop. It's up to you if you view them as bad or not. I find them quite interesting." She looked at the Sphinx and smiled. "If you spend enough time with him and connect with him enough, which I already see happening between you two, you could develop some of his characteristics and mannerisms, such as his cat eyes." Aurora nodded. "Oh. That sounds pretty. Thank you, Professor. That's all I need to know." She looked at Altan's eyes--they truly were very pretty, she decided. She wouldn't mind having something like that. He purred proudly.

Ever chuckled and shook her head. "Ares, if I'm so dumb, then why is the God of War wasting his time on a little second generation God such as myself? I would think you'd have more important things to do, such as starting petty little wars, creating spawn, ordering your minions around, or polishing your..."
Ever arched an eyebrow at Ares. "artifacts."

Markums smiled and patted Aurora on her shoulder gently. "That's a wonderful attitude to have, Aurora. I'm very proud of you. I know that you and this Sphinx are a perfect match. Oh, and he likes to eat human food. Whatever you are eating, you better make enough to share."
She smirked over at the Sphinx and then walked away, looking for some other young girl to help.

"Ever think that maybe I have business here?" he asked, completely ignoring any of her statements in favor of looking around him. "Maybe you are my business. Or maybe it's this school. There's something brewing here and I like it. I want to help it grow. It's going to be a nasty thing," a wolfish, feral grin overtook his face as he continued, "and you know that I like that."

Aurora allowed Professor Markums a small smile, then she went back to the 'desks' to sit down and just talk with Altan. He very much liked it when she petted him, she soon found out, and wasn't very happy when she would stop, even if her hand had tired.

Ever dropped her scowl and looked at Ares with genuine intrigue. "Ares, what is going on in this school? Why was I sent here? I was nearly killed today... as much as a God can be killed by drowning, which I was damn near sure I could be. But what the hell is going on? For it to even warrant a visit from you must make it pretty big."

Ares lifted a finger, wiggling it. "Ah-ah-ah. No, I can't just tell you that. Tell me, what do you know of this school and why you were sent here? Why do you think I'm here?" He was having fun with this. She would probably get angry with him, but he didn't mind at all.

Ever sighed in extreme frustration and rolled her eyes. She hadn't liked Ares from the first time she met him on Mt. Olympus... Ok ok! She HAD liked him and thought he was cute, but then he opened his mouth and it didn't take her long to dislike him.
"Ares, you're an a**, you know that? I'm sure you don't hear that from many people, but you are."
But she really wanted to know more about why she was here, what was going on with this school, and if Ares had answers, she'd play his little game... up to an extent.
She walked closer to Ares and loosely crossed her arms over her chest. "I know I was sent here by the other Furies and Zeus. Yes, your father sent me here, too. Send him my regards, by the way. I know how well you two get along."
Sarcasm was dripping from her words, but she quickly went back to business. "They said that they wanted me to keep my eyes and ears open and to guard something in the future. That is all that I know! How the hell do I know what to keep my eyes open for or what to guard? You Gods are so damn manipulative and secretive!"

Ares raised an eyebrow at her words. "Well, how else are we supposed to entertain ourselves? I must say, though, that you know a disappointingly small amount. Perhaps you should just keep your eyes and ears open, like you were told to."

Ever moved closer to Ares, put her hands on her hips, and glared up into his eyes. She hissed out, "Just keeping my ears and eyes opened caused me to get pulled down in the lake and nearly drown."

"Well then maybe you should've kept your mind open, too," he retorted, mocking her.

Ever scoffed and backed up from Ares. She turned her back to him and walked back toward the tree she had been leaning against.
"Ok, Ares, you now know that I know nothing. You've even had the pleasure of witnessing your former horse chase me away like a common pest. Why are you still here?"

A devious grin played at his mouth. "I find you quite entertaining, Evermore. I figured you wouldn't mind, and I had time to burn."

Ever laughed at this. Her back was still to Ares. "Ares, you're immortal. You have nothing but time."
She smirked as she thought of an insult. For some reason, it unnerved her that Ares was finding some entertainment value in her. She had seen what had happened to other people Ares found entertaining. Either dead or pregnant.
"Of course, for you to spend time around mortals must mean that you are scraping the bottom of the barrel. What's wrong Ares? Sad that Greek Gods have lost their significance in today's world? You miss your petty followers?"
