Kara smiled at that, she tried to learn fire casting, it never worked for her frankly. It just wasn't her element and only caused accidents no mattered how hard she tried.
"Maybe... maybe I'll get Lin to come here when we get back then," Kara offered, "I know when we left she was already left to travel around the Southland, she probably has actually met Arwen since then."
And of course whomever else was there for her to meet, she could only imagine the sort of adventures her little girl was getting into. Kara remembered what it was like to travel, she enjoyed it before she settled down.

Elrohir smiled. "That would be nice," he admitted. "I'll be the first to admit, it's a bit strange to have all of you here without her. This has to be the first time we've had someone here without her - other than Lore and Elnara on their honeymoon, at least."
He paused. "No, Shiro's been here a few times with Kaito and Ura for some research."

"But...." Kara murmured, "It's the fact that Donovan is here on a hunt and Lin is not here. She has been coming with Donovan since he realized if he didn't take her along she was going to pull the same stunt she did when he went to the Southland."
Granted it was that stunt with her going to the Southland by herself (Nina didn't count) that started this whole thing. Lin had come to look up to Earendil when she was younger, and just simply closer to him than any of the friends she made when she got older.

Earendil pursed his lips thoughtfully. "There have been a lot of hunts without Donovan or Lin," he murmured, "so I don't think that's it. At least, not for us. Still, I suppose that now that she can travel on her own, we'll be seeing more of her - or less, if she's going to be spending more time with Earendil instead."
He chuckled softly.

Honestly Kara thought if it had been possible Lin would have been stuck to Earendil like glue. He was pretty much the person she looked for every time she went to the Southland when she wasn't getting lessons.
"She always talked about sailing when she was little, but now since she's grown up it's been nothing but sailing. The preparations she's spent most of her time making lists of what she needs, or more training, or planning something else."
Not that Kara minded she completely understood but Lin was literary the first child who said she was going to travel when she grew up and then actually go do it.

Elrohir chuckled. "At least you got fair warning. I don't suppose anyone's told you how suddenly Roydon showed up on our door, and him having already been courting Arwen for five years without our knowledge."
Of course they had been good enough to stay here for a while before heading out, but that didn't make Roydon's appearance any less sudden or surprising.

Kara laughed at that, she could see how that was sudden, "Trust me I know unexpected courtings, I think for those who are married they seem to make a habit of it. Except Serenity and Skye they are actually giving their family advance warning."
Otherwise all the other marriages she had known except for Elnara were quick and often surprising enough. Though there hadn't been a marriage for a while, it seemed the ones who had paired up were happy and the ones who weren't were happy to not be.
"But yes, with Lin's plans I've always known. I just... I don't know, you know how children are when they're little. Things happen, so I wasn't ever sure if it was going to happen, up until she turned into a teenager and it hadn't changed... at all."

Elrohir chuckled again. "Well, Lin has always been the same. At least it's not a great surprise."
It was a short while later when they arrived at Timaeus and Alyse's house, but they didn't have to knock at the door. Alyse was sitting on the front porch swing, watching Jasmine as the little girl played in what little snow remained - barely a few handfuls.
Jasmine paused when she heard Elrohir and Kara and Toshiro approaching, and though she liked Elrohir well enough she was wary of the strangers. She ran up to the porch and crawled up onto the swing with her mother, pulling Alyse's cloak forward and hiding herself under it.
Alyse giggled. "It's all right, Jasmine," she murmured, putting one hand on her daughter's head. "It's some of Feng and Ryu's family!"
Jasmine peeked out from under the cloak, looking up at her mother. "Nai'a?"

Kara giggled, she was so cute, in which to say she was very much like Feng when it came to children.
"Hello there, so you met Feng, Ryu and Naida hmmm? Did you play with Naida?"
It was nice to see Naida had people to play with still, with everyone growing and having children of their own, sometimes it was hard for the little mer who didn't age like the children she visited.

Jasmine blushed and hid behind Alyse's cloak once more. Alyse laughed. "We spent yesterday with them," she smiled warmly. "But ... with Timaeus gone today ... I just didn't feel like going anywhere today."
She smiled and tilted her head slightly. "Now I haven't seen your little ones yet, come, let me see them." She smiled eagerly.

Kara could understand that, it wasn't good when a loved one went away. She and Toshiro approached the porch to show Jasmine the wrapped up babies.
"The one in the white blanket is Hope and the one in the green is Faith," Toshiro explained, "We have bracelets for them but the way they're are now you wouldn't be able to see them."
He had to admit it was much easier carrying the baby when he's bigger, he wasn't as worried that he was going to accidentally drop one.

Alyse tugged her cloak away from Jasmine and lifted her daughter into her lap. "And this is Jasmine," she smiled at Kara. "Jasmine, this is Kara and Toshiro and Hope and Faith," she murmured to her daughter. "Say hello."
Jasmine peeked up at them all and uttered a soft, "Hewwo ..."
Alyse smiled at the others. "Do you want to head inside?" she asked them. "I can offer you some hot cider or something, if you like ..."

Toshiro nodded at that, "That sounds good, besides the twins shouldn't be outside for too long."
Not to mention without his usual clothes Toshiro was feeling a bit chilly. It would be happy when Helen could make replacements for him.
"Thank you, that sounds wonderful," Kara looked over at Elrohir, "You'll be coming with us?"

Elrohir nodded at Kara as Alyse picked up Jasmine and held her close. "I want to tell Alyse about everything else that's going on," he told Kara quietly as Alyse went inside. "Without alarming her."
As if that were possible.

Kara blinked and nodded she hadn't realized that Alyse probably didn't know, but when she thought about it. Timeaus was probably with the original group that was supposed to go out and not with the scouting group.
She followed Alyse inside along with Toshiro, the nice thing about being inside the home was that they could loosen the blankets a bit for the children.
