"Kay. We dun have to get too much. My mom doesn't really eat." Not just didikai food -- Lee'd never actually seen her eat anything but salads and the occasional bite of whatever was for dinner. How she survived, Lee didn't know, but it certainly explained the woman's figure. She placed a few shirts into the bag along with everything else. Looking down at the shirt she was wearing, she rubbed her shoulder and looked over to Rory. "I should prolly change back if we're going out..." It became clear to her that Rory's shirt was big enough on her to where her shorts underneath were completely hidden.

"Donnae see why. Tha's like a dress on you," Rory said, shrugging as he stood. He lifted the bag and shouldered it easily. "W' mostly a casual people 'round here. They not gonna think much about it, you know."

She tugged at the end of the shirt, shrugging and giving the boy a slightly unsure look. "Okay..." She'd accidentally leave her shirt from before behind... Who knows, it might come in handy if and when she decided to sleep over here.

Rory ushered her out and shut the door behind him, not locking it. "Alreet, let's gae hit th' market an' get a few eggs and some milk. Maybe bacon if'n w're lucky. That'll be enough to get a decent brekkie gaen. Your mum might'n not eat much, but w' can at least set a spread out so she knows you ain't starvin', yeah?"

Nodding back at him, her mouth was actually beginning to water just thinking about it. The prospect of a good breakfast was actually helping ease her dreading the next morning. Reaching out for Rory's hand as they walked, she wondered for a moment how Lauss was holding up without her having been around all day, and hoped he hadn't gotten into too much trouble.

At the tiny market in the camps, Rory wandered about buying or bartering for goods, coming back with eggs, milk, a packet of pancake mix, and--best of all--some bacon. "I hope your mum appreciates th' bacon. I've got three carved boxes t' make now t' pay fae it." He didn't seem like he minded, though. "Let's gae home an' get rested." He slung an arm around her shoulders as they walked, carrying the cloth grocery bag over the same shoulder as his overnight bag. "It'll be kinda interestin', yeah? In a way, it'll be a taste o' what it might be like if'n w' were married."

Smiling up at him, she blushed a bit, finding it more interesting that Rory almost seemed excited by it. "Sounds like a game when you say it like that..." Marriage didn't scare her as much as it should have at her age, likely because she'd already been through it once before. Rory, on the other hand, was even younger than her, and she found it amazing that he wasn't squirming every time he heard the word. Deciding she was giving it too much thought, she focused on what she might say to her mother when she arrived. Nearing her vardo, Lee opened the door for Rory, only just then feeling bad for having him carry everything on his own.
Lauss had been lounging in his hammock, and as the door opened, he didn't bother looking up from the book in his hands, simply calling out, "Hello, Miss Lee. Hello, Mister Rory."

"Oh, hey, Lauss," Rory said, grinning at the boy. "I hope you donnae mind, but Lee asked me t' stay o'er. Seems her mum is gonna visit in th' morn an' I'm gonna make brekkie fae you all." He went to set his overnight bag down and unpack the groceries into the cupboards and fridge.

Lee waved dully at Lauss, plopping down on her bed and not bothering to ask what Lauss had been up to that day. She wasn't sure she wanted to know; as long as he hadn't gotten himself locked away or killed, she could assume the best of him. For once, she actually wished Rhian had been here, if only to babysit the alter.
Lauss blinked, setting down his book for a moment. "No, sir, I don't mind." Rory almost seemed to respect Lauss' opinion. How strange a concept for the essentic. Laying in silence for a moment, he rolled out of the hammock and began to help Rory unpack. "Has Mister Rory become Miss Lee's new servant?" He seemed to help a lot, and she went to see him much too often for the two to simply be friends. Not to mention, Rory almost treated Lauss as his equal. It was weird.

"Ah, no, lad. I be Lee's boyfriend," Rory laughed, letting the strange boy help him unpack. "I'm just stayin' th' night 'cause Lee doesnae wanna be alone wi' her mum . . . an' I thought it might be nice if I stayed o'er." He looked back at Lee, affection clear in his coloreless eyes.

Oh, was that all? If that was the case, Rory was an okay guy... Without giving it a second thought, Lauss mentioned to the young man, "I'm a boyfriend, too. It's difficult." It was for him, at least. He wasn't very good at it yet, but, then again, he was still a novice. Putting the last of the items in the fridge, Lauss crawled back into his hammock, propping the book from before back onto his belly.
Lee contentedly watched Rory put away groceries -- something that would be dull and ordinary had anyone else been doing it -- and a small smile crept onto her face. She hadn't noticed Lauss was pestering the poor guy, and, considering what Rory'd said before, simply sat back, wondering if married life felt like this. This certainly wasn't like what it had been like with Faolan, and she couldn't imagine her mother or father ever having the same thoughts she was having now.

Rory smiled at Lauss, figuring the boy might be a little slow. No wonder Lee had brought him with her, thinking he'd have a better life among the didikai. "You're Rhian's boyfriend, yeah? You gonna marry her one day?"
He went to sit with Lee on the bed, sprawling out comfortably with his arm around her. "I guess you want me an' th' lad t' step out so you can change clothes, eh?" He gave her a teasing smile. "Or, you know, I could watch."

"Marry her? Am I supposed to? Would she want that?" Lauss wondered aloud. He'd have to ask her when she came back from the hospital. This whole "relationship" thing just got exponentially more complicated.
Noting that Rory had decided to make himself comfortable before asking, Lee raised an eyebrow, assuming he expected to stay. "You wouldn't let me watch earlier, only fair that you can't now." In reality, she wouldn't mind a bit if he stayed, but somehow she felt that might not be smart considering how little control they both seemed to have.

Rory just shrugged at Lauss' words. "Well, most times if your serious on a girl an' you see her fae a long enough time an' love her enough, it usually leads t' marriage." He thought a moment. "Although, sweepin' a girl up on horseback an' carryin' her away t' elope seems to always work fae Faolan."
He grinned at Lee, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "Settle, love. I'm just haen you on. Me an' th' lad can gae wait outside, then you do th' same so's I can change, too, eh?"

Well, Lauss didn't know how to ride a horse, nor was he Faolan, so he'd have to settle for the "love her and wait long enough" approach.
Lee stood, reaching out a hand to help the boy out of bed. "Can Lauss borrow one of your shirts? He doesn't have one to sleep in..." In fact, all Lauss had been wearing so far were Faolan's clothes, which, needless to say, didn't fit him too well.
