"Straight ahead and to th' right, lass. We're nearly there."
His stunted legs pumped as fast as they could, feeling every vibration and explosion on the surface above. Rounding the corner, he stopped dead in his tracks, raising a hand to halt the others as well.
They had reached the primary junction, a large chamber that flowed outwards in each direction. There were only a few guards still standing by the ladder to the surface.
The entire Noswaldian army now stood before the wizard tower, firing arrows and bullets towards those foolish enough to remain out of the windows for more than a second. Though each that managed to cast a spell took a handful of soldiers with them.
The Emperor gazed with growing anger at the tower. He would not let this continue for long.

Delaine was about to respond to Sora when the dwarf stopped. Seeing the guards the dog made from her spell gave a small growl, going down on its hunches and baring its teeth. "Down, Kuro..." She cooed, stepping before the dog. Taking her yumi from her back she looked at her arrows, one group of them different from the others, the Noswaldian crest on the butt end of the arrow. Taking those select arrows she strung two at a time. In memory of my brother... Letting them fly she struck their shoulders and kneecaps. "Alright, let's run." Delaine broke into a run, going past the guards. "Sora, I appreciate your concern and will stop using my dark magic for now, but..." Her voice trailed off, thinking of the right words to say. "I couldn't care for what Edge would say." Delaine said without looking back, hiding her face. "If anything, he should realize that we're out here in this sewer because of him."

"um Hurry Up and get up the ladder!" He said looking down one of the tunnels "people are coming..." He said rather calm. "Hurry up and climb up, I can fly up in a blink of an eye..., so you two go first and I will follow.... they sound like they are far enough away that we can get up before they get here... but please hurry." He stated looking over at the ladder.. "and do we have any idea of what could be up there waiting for us...?" He asked looking at the opening at the top. And then Sora looked back at her and cocked an eyebrow? "You mean you two aren't?... I really thought you were... you know... together... you give off that feeling... and you have such a strong connection." He said puzzled

Delaine sighed despite the stench of the sewers, shaking her head a little. "We're only friends, that is all. If we had a relationship like that..." Her voice trailed off as she thought of the possibility, looking down at the sewer floor with her hood on. "It wouldn't work out. It would be rather awkward..." Her gaze traveled up again, her face determined and focused on the situation at hand. "Are you sure we should climb up that ladder? I would rather face the undead than the two forces above us..." Delaine asked, wanting to know the opinions of the others.

"Forgetful, and timid, lad. Not good. I said we had two options and that depending on Delaine's decision, we could either spend another day down here and in all likelihood fight undead that have taken residence here, or surface now and face gods only know what courtesy of the Noswaldian or Fyrlandtian forces.
Have ye made yer choice, lass?"

Fuma glanced out at the Noswald troops, "..that's their Emperor.." he looked back at his warriors "Their new weapon is broken, I'll knock them back so you can attack." He began chanting a spell, a few minutes later the signet on top of the tower lit and unleashed a gust of wind around the tower, hoping to give the mages a chance to launch a counter-attack.

Delaine bit her bottom lip, "Let's stay underground. If we need to surface we can with Sora's help." She said, not willing to use any more words due to the foul stench of the sewers. Her spell running ahead of her she stopped to look at the guards. Hit with their own weapons...the folly of man... She thought sadly before urging the others to follow. "We need to get to the Crimson Fortress immediately, even if we spend another day here." After all, it's better than two days up there...

"I am sorry..." He said to Klaudnir. "I will pay more attention...." Sora nodded following Kuro assuming she knew where she was going.

((sorry guys, but I have a class everyday and my parents have set an "internet curfew" crying ))
Suddenly, Kuro stopped running, sniffing the air. Delaine looked forward, trying to sense of there are any more enemies nearby. With no warning a skeletal hand came from the sewer water, grabbing her ankle. A scream escaped her lips, Kuro jumping back and biting the wrist of the hand that threatened its master. Dark red mass dripped onto the hand, devouring the dead flesh and disintegrating the bone, causing Kuro to shrink in size slightly. Delaine stepped away from the water, gasping from fear and the surprise. "Sorry..." She apologized to the group.

((I have a full time job, a girlfriend, bills to pay and other friends, unfortunately. So, it leaves little time for gaia.))
As the burst of wind erupted from the tower, the soldiers shuddered, some falling backwards with the sheer force of the gust. Their leaders stood resolute however, their Emperor even preserving his sinister grin.
The Grand Patriarch approached the Emperor.
"Sire, the SpellJammer is ready once again."
"Excellent... I was beginning to get bored."
The light at the center of the tower grew bright once more as the defenders sent forth another devastating spell, the silver shield appeared again and this time held with the same tenacity as their glorified leader.
Grimwald Iceheart laughed out loud, his cackling brevity sent chills down the spines of every living being within earshot. He raised his personal blade, the Iceblade of the Monarch, into the air and called to his personal guard.
"Soldiers of Noswald! Today, we find glory in battle or death! Those who fall shall be remembered for eternity for their bravery. Hold nothing back! This is the turning point, the bridgehead, we stand or fall here today! FOR NOSWALD!"
With one unified battlecry, the soldiers of the north charged forth, up the winding ramp of the tower with their avatar of an emperor at its head. They rallied with his presence, while his fury made his enemies cower before him, his troops were inspired to fight with abandon.
The Emperor reached the door first, drawing back his claymore and it turned a dark hue, drawing upon all the life essence it had stolen from his fallen victims. In one mighty slash, he tore through the magically reinforced door and his soldiers began to pour through like a raging flood.
Raising his sword high, he shouted his battle cry once more: "For Noswald!"

((Lol, Tonas. ^^ Your hands are full. At least it's summer and I don't have to work yet until the beginning of the next school year ^.^'))
Hearing the battle cries from above Delaine looked up, suddenly regretting her decision. "The war..." She looked down at ground again, wondering if running away from the violence was the right thing to do. Suddenly she was transported back in time, a flashback being before her eyes. She was sitting in a hospital room, her hand holding his. She saw him, wrapped in bandages, a warm, dark liquid craling its way on her fingers...
Delaine snapped back to reality, her mind crash landing as the sounds of battle raged above them. Looking forward and brushing the tears from her eyes she looked to the rest, "Let's go." Continuing onwards she willed her feet to keep moving. I will only take action if things get out of hand...
