Veyes may have not noticed Nehren until the palm crossed his vision and its cool surface was upon his forehead causing his eyes to shift to see who had touched him. Sighing just a little, "I think I've got what's going around." his voice was soft because he didn't want anyone else to hear. Oh he knew what Nehren suggested was probably the right thing to do on any other occasion but at the moment during the hatching, that wasn't going to happen.

His brow furrowed slightly at the offer but really his tired body couldn't refuse so he leaned just a bit upon Nehren and hoped that's all he would need. "Thanks Nehren. I...appreciate it." He turned his head away from the other and coughed several times before continuing, I"ll try not to be too much of a burden. I bet those eggs will hatch soon and well...after that...I suppose I will just have to make it to my room." Of course, he didn't say anything about impressing...or the healers. Actually, he really just wanted to avoid Z'nal wrath even if this was something he had no control over.

As he leaned in, the next two eggs cracked and the brown found it's rider immediately. The other however, got caught up in a jumble of candidates. Veyes winced because all he could do was watch the event unable to react because of his own illness. Any other time, he might have jumped to help. Shards! Why didn't those girls move?

Mouth compressing into a thin line, Rinfala shot an icy glare at the girl. Irrational, perhaps, but dammit she wasn't some weyrbrat that didn't know better! "I'm fine," she snapped, pulling her arm away. "I can stand, so I will Stand. It'll take more than a few swipes to take me down." To prove her point, she strode a few steps away, separating herself from the group of girls slightly. Drawing a deep breath, she attempted to calm herself. Calm...calm...calm...damn but it hurt...calm...

And there it was. S'kagi had been waiting for this. All the yelling and chaos...
Well there was a reason you weren't supposed to make that kind of noise on the Sands and Raena and a couple others had just given a text book perfect example of -why-.
Beside him he heard Z'nal give an snort he'd swear was almost a sound of vindication, but personally he just flinched. The candidates would need to be gotten off the sands, preferably under their own power, and directed to the healers. (Probably with at least one biting insect in their ear about yelling around new born dragons from Z'nal). But if this finished evoking a riot among the already excited crowd. Well they could just forget about the other eggs if people couldn't bite their tongues.
If they can't get off the sands I'll see what I can do. he promised a concerned Coriath, hoping that the shocked candidates would remember the rules of the sands and make sure the rest of this was handled with greater delicacy. It's alright, it's alright. he thought pointlessly at the Green, though he knew she was oblivious to him in her panic and anger at being surrounded by loud voices, strange figures, and not being sure where the one was she was supposed to go to.

Hanya had been watching quietly, giving soft cheers for those who Impressed but otherwise just riding on an adrenaline high and utterly distracting herself from the dragons most of the time. Between some sort of mayhem in the Stands and the fainting Candidate and everything else that had been going on, any possibility of sleepiness had long since been wiped from her.

Which was all the better when the little green came forward in a full force attack. Hanya squeaked and dodged farther back into the crowd when she saw what was going on, putting space (and people, she would realize later) between herself and those nasty claws. This was not her idea of a good time, in any way...she shuddered hugely as she watched the proceedings, eventually putting her hands over her face. She dropped them soon after, worrying about the little green again, and blinked away tears. This wasn't how it was supposed to go....not again...

It was strange. Woozy Candidates passing out, and Uktenath was on guard. Spitfire green tearing up people on the Sands, and he barely blinked.

O'asis, on the other hand, tensed. His brows angled in worry. He had friends on the Sands. He didn't want to see them hurt.

And where the newly bonded boy had needed to calm His before, His now made a soft croon, deep in his throat. O'asis Mine, you should only be watching me now, Uktenath informed the new bronzerider calmly. That green is not for you.

O'asis reoriented himself, and signaled his agreement by collecting a new morsel. "You think I'd forgotten already, Uktenath?" he teased the bronze. "You're here. There's no way that I'd want her!"

That is right, the dragon answered, accepting the red meat, so please remember. You are Mine, and none other's.

"Always." And with that, O'asis banished his concerns. His friends, he had to trust, were smart enough to keep out of the way of an angry dragon. And they must be - for, Uktenath was certain, any friend of His would have at least that much sense, or else they were unworthy to begin with. His was going to go far, further than any other here, and all others should be prepared for that - to help His, or not get in the way. If they were distracting His, that was unacceptable.

Ariaen stood mouth agape as the green tore through the Candidates. She was silently thankful she was over here, and not in the group of girls. She looked at the girl who'd separated herself from the rest of the group. Instinct told her to not move from her spot though.

She wasn't a healer after all, and would just get in more trouble. Ari sighed with a shake of her head. Stupid regulations, stupid temper, stupid Hatching!

The Queen needed to hatch soon and Impress so she could go get her disaplinary work and get it over with so she could go back to ignoring everything that happened that had to do with dragon eggs.

Crackdust! One moment all the Candidates had been peacefully standing around and the next moment they were dropping like… like… like dead things! Or people who had been mauled by dragons! Mal attempted to take a step back, but the crush of Candidates prevented much movement. The lesser Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Panic, Shouting, Chaos, and People) took over the Sands as everyone tried to either get closer to the Green (because, apparently these people were either stupid, which is really more of the human condition, or because they wanted to help the injured Candidates) or they were trying to get away from the angry Green (for obvious reasons).

Strangely enough, Mal felt a bit of sympathy for the newly hatched dragonet. Poor little Green. She was probably terrified. Just being hatched into this loud and crazy situation… course, it was harder to feel sympathy for something that just ripped into three Candidates (or maybe more? Mal couldn’t really tell what was going on, thanks to all the chaos and suchlike). One thing was for sure: the first little Green he had ever seen hatch would have some competition now!

...Shardit!

It was not the injuries to the unlucky ones in the way of the green that caused that internal cuss, but seeing Veyes leaning on Ren. Veyes was no wilting blossom, mere heat wouldn't fell him. Something really was wrong, very wrong. Why had it chosen today of all days to spring up? Shards and shells and smoke.

"Raith, speak to them for me will you? Tell them I'll be outside the hatching grounds waiting." Let it be just some silly little bug that made his young friend miserable for a few days but no more. Shards! Everyone was too closely packed for him to move! Growling under his breath, L'thor dropped to his hands and knees to crawl. This was bloody undignified, but it was working, and right now practicality was the main thing. He hadn't stayed to watch a queen Impress!... Well, he would be able to see as well as many could from near the entrance to the sands. Cursing the heat, and the smell of feet assaulting his nose, L'thor scrambled onward.

Raith was not accustomed to speaking to others. She had spoken to, - umm? - Veyes L'thor supplied for her. Well she had spoken to him before. Not to... to Ren though. Well, desperate times... "Veyes. Ren. L'thorMine will meet you just outside the hatching sands... He says not to mind him for worrying like a silly wherryhen. He is sure youVeyes will be fine but can't help being a fussy thing." Hers was not so flighty. Often silly and capricious, but he didn't go down on hands and knees and crawl between legs for just any little thing. He was worried. She was worried. She hoped it came to nothing, but couldn't feel confident of a good outcome at the present. Even with her worry, however, her eyes remained fixed immovably on the remaining eggs. She had to watch this. She could not conceive of any other course of action.

Kastina looked sadly up at the girl. That was a success. She stood again, watching the dragonet warily. Careful, little girl. They won't hurt you. She tried to persuade the small green with her thoughts, scared that if she spoke out loud she would alarm her once more.

She wondered why she had spoken to the girl. Seeing her attacked must have been it, and wanting to stop the poor wayward green from hurting anymore people - She was abstract, not sadistic. Kastina shuddered and watched the green, now with its back to Kastina, with unreadable expression in her eyes. It may have been a slightly motherly look, or pity, or wariness. Or maybe all three. She didn't want the hatchling to be scared.

Raena hissed as she hit the ground, mauled by the green. Her vision blurred from unspilled tears, the pain didn't cause it, not the physical anyway. There was a deep, emotional pain that siezed her in a way no physical blow ever could.

She had no idea how badly she was hurt, pain was pain at this point and she didn't dare look. There was that hope, that slim mocking hope that she wasn't hurt that bad, that she could recover and might still Impress this day.

That hope that kept her calm was all she had even if it was fading. With all the hurt around her, she just edged away hoping not to be noticed by the Healers just yet, the longer she could hold on the longer that thread of hope was there for her to cling with all her strenght. With Elae and Annelie, C'ym to she thought, she was all alone out here. Prehaps, perhaps that was a good thing.

The green spun once more, even more excited now that there were squealing Candidates running around, trying to avoid her, yet at the same time still keeping fairly close, in case she was hers. It was her own fault, of course -- had she not been in such a rush to get away from her egg, she would not have stumbled, would not have run into that Candidate, and would not have stumbled into the group. But dragonets didn't think rationally, and in the heat of the moment, the pit viper was surrounded by the chaotic and worried thoughts.

Stopping suddenly, the Pit Viper stared at a girl close by, her red eyes whirling.

AriaenMine.

The green turned her head to either side of her, hissing once at those closest to her and moving quickly towards the girl, the sand still clinging to her body from when she had fallen. She looked a little wild still, but at the same time it was obvious she was calming down, her eyes darting a little to those around her before settling back on Ariaen, her expression clearly distressed, like a child who was about to cry.

AriaenMine, your Sikatcuath... your Sikatcuath needs you... she is sorry, but she is ANGRY. She's being cornered, and they are all squealing! Make them stop squealing, Yours only wants to be with you.

Tideal watched the brown as it hatched, quietly and plainly. Nothing flashy or stand-outish about it. When its arrival was interrupted by a vicious, bossy green who hissed and spat and clambered through the candidates. Tideal couldn't help but huff slightly and smile, amused by the torment it caused as it bowled over people without care, its purpose set and its eyes whirling intensely red.

The brown, on the other hand, made no such commotion and paused only a moment before Tideal watched it turn and find its lifemate. A nice couple, he observed bitterly and turned again to watch the pretty green storm about and stop suddenly, putting an end to the injury list, hopefully. Funnily enough the green stopped by one of the candidates she had felled, looking quite like a child who knew they just did something they weren't supposed to.

And that looked like it. Merya let out a slightly less irritated sigh, relaxing a little. With a bit of luck, the girl the dragonet was staring at was The One - and with a bit more luck, she'd have enough good sense about her to spare some for her difficult new partner. It was a dreadful thought, she supposed, but she was very glad that she wasn't in the girl's place. Impressing a mad wherry like that? She might well have been tempted to rap the little idiot on the snout and give her a piece of her mind, and though she wouldn't actually have done it she suspected the dragonet would've got the message.

If there was anything for her in one of these last few shells, she thought fervently, it had better not be as easy to rile as that little green. She'd had quite enough of dragons with short dry fuses.

Oh dear Faranth.

From her seat, Zara just sighed and placed her head in her hands. Of course. Of course people would have to start yelling. Of course that would upset the dragonets. Of COURSE someone or two or three would get mauled. It was logical. It was reasonable.

It bloody sucked.

Had hardly noticed the hatching of the brown in his concern for Vesyes until the level headed dragonet walked right on past him on the way to his lifemate. He blinked and watched it. Any other time he might have found the brazen yet self confident attitude funny but not now. And Any smile would have been whipped off his face anyway by the green. Violent but he knew she couldn’t help it, with so much chaos on the sands she was just reacting to it. He did flinch on the poor girls behalf though. Soon the Green would impress and things would be able to calm down.

He choose to ignore the comment that Vesyes made a bout going back to his room, that wasn’t likely to happen if he had any say in the matter he would guide him straight to the healers. He really hoped that it was just something brought on by the heat, that he would recover quickly after the stress of the hatching was over and he could et cool and comfortable again…yet somhow he doubted it and he could feel Vesyes leaning a little more heavily on him. He seemed to be getting weaker with each passing moment.

Well he nearly yelped outloud when he heard Raith in his head, and it was rather cruel for a moment he thought that it was a hatchling and his hazel eyes darted around looking for the one who it belonged to, only a few moments later to realise it was Raith. L’thor was on his way. Thank the first egg. That was the second best news he could have heard from a dragon at that moment. He wanted to thank her but he didn’t really know how to answer. Still he wilted a little, just a little disappointed. If only more pressing things weren’t consuming him. “see…you’ll be fine. There are only a few eggs left, then we can get you better help.” He assured vesyes softly. He couldn’t stand to mention the possibility of impression either.
