Heron considers voicing a protest, but remembers that their teacher is always watching. He nods and places his thumb and forefinger to his chin again, thinking.

If it is not a spell that places the parcels in a spacial distortion, then maybe the parcel itself is creating the shrinking. Maybe I ought to just open one, the answer could be as simple as that? They would try to mess with our heads like that.

Heron takes another parcel in his hand, he pinches one side of the raffia ribbon securing it and pulls.

Heron pulls on the little string, and it comes loose in his hands. The paper also loosens a little, but does not come undone.

Aerith can't help it. A smile forms over her patient lips, and she narrows her eyes faintly as she glances to Heron. "Nice try," she tells him, humour lightly laced into her words. "And one should never pass over the simple answers, for sometimes they really are true. But not this time. You ready Nay?"

Now that she knows a little more about the spell, Nae Nae considering her options, idly chewing on her lip as she mulls it over. She watches her brother lean down and tug on the little cord, and a smile comes over her face. That would have been funny. She thinks to herself. If only it were that simple.

Suddenly she blinks. What if it is that simple?

"What if.." she hesitates, trying to form the words to express her thoughts. "What if we think of the spell holding the object into that shape as a .. well, as the weave formed into a sort of package to hold it there. If we look at it that way.. all we have to do is find the little cord holding it all together.. then it would all come undone." Nae Nae looks to her brother for support. "Wouldn't it?"

Heron frowns at the little unopened parcel in his hand, but his sisters words bring him out of his disappointment.

"That sounds possible, but wouldn't that be the same as trying to dispel something? Just undoing what was done. Unless..." He thinks again, placing his thumb and forefinger to his chin. He snaps his fingers, "Unless it's a matter of not necessarily dispelling the weave...I think you've got it Nay Nay! Go for it!" He says excitedly.

Is it possible?

Encouraged by her brother's words, Nae Nae focuses on the weave. She is already familiar with the spell because of her earlier attempts, so now she examines it more closely. The 'string' she was looking for... it would have to be some aspect of the energies holding the effects of the spell... some loose end in the weave...

Finding what she believes to be the loose end, she murmurs a chant to manipulate those energies, tugging on them ever so gently..

Aerith watches them intently as they discuss this new theory. She was impressed at the way they were using eachother's mistakes to build upon a foundation and improve their chances of finding the right answer. She watches the timid girl concentrate, and smiles as the package suddenly springs to life, expanding to it's original.. although now a bit crumbled.. size.

"Well done," She tells them simply. "I will report back to the Kae'dryn. To finish your task, you must now finish the rest of the packages and figure out the proper place for all of the items within. If anything was, or is, damaged in the process, set them aside and we will replace them later."

Giving them an approving smile, she nods in parting and heads out, disppearing into the main room once more.

Heron waits until Aerith is gone, then throws his arms up in the air in triumph, "Yeah! What'd I tell you? We put our heads together and we can do anything! And you, you were awesome!"

He throws his arms around her in a big brother hug. He squeezes quickly then let's go, but not before placing his right hand on her head again and mussing up her hair.

He take another package and sets it in front of him. He concentrates on it, trying to feel out the loose end the way Naelonni did. His brow furrows a bit, but then his eyes widen. He murmurs a chant and tugs. The package expands before him. He smiles and looks at his sister, "I know it's only going to get harder from here, but I think we'll be alright Nay Nay."

Her eyes widened in delight as the package grew to proper size upon the counter, her heart skipping a beat with the excitement of it all. Brimming over with happiness, she remains silent until Aerith leaves them. She almost squeaks as she returns her brother's embrace, a flush filling her cheeks at the compliment...

Only to be replaced by a powerful twitch as he mussed up her hair... AGAIN.

She pulls away promptly, glaring at him as he moves to begin on the rest of the packages. She runs her fingers through her hair, combing it back into place, and considers her revenge. Shifting to the original parcel, she begins to pull out the items within. A strange white speckled melon of some sort, a dusty bottle of oil... She squints down at the last one. Dusty? Glancing at her hands now, she realizes that her fingers have been coated a fine white powder. She scrounges through the remaining objects and finds a bag of flour that seemed to be leaking. It must have been pierced by something when the parcel was squished. She thinks to herself. Her eyes narrow and she steals a glance at her brother.

Payback time.

Lifting out the bag, she sets the dusted bottle on the counter and waits.. waits until he is reaching for something.. Gripping the top of the bag with both hands, she swings it to plow into her brother's shoulder, white powder exploding into a small cloud that dusts a small circular area of his hair, shoulder, and face with whole grain goodness.

"HA!" She squeals triumphantly with a grin.

When Heron turns around to grab another parcel, he is very much shocked be smacked with a bag of flour. He shakes his head and raspberries. He coughs and glares at her, "Oh! Why you little..." He stops mid sentence. He suddenly remembered that they were, in fact, in a kitchen. He looks around and finds a small bucket of water in the corner.

He gives his sister a catty grin, and shifts his eyes toward the bucket obviously. He wanted her to see it and know what it was he was about to do with the contents.

Never mistake tears for sadness...
It was a sort of relief that Tali was no witch though Eva knew that made little difference. Still, it was a comfort to her agonized conscience. Perhaps it would make no real difference in the end but...her thoughts stilled abruptly as Tali made her off-hand reference to Eva's own heritage. Self-consciously she reached up with one hand to cup her right ear. The small though noticable point was still there, of course, but she had convinced herself once more that it was barely noticable. The small defect had certainly gained her enough attention in the Cathedral during her youth. Even after Eva had proved herself time and time again, her heritage kept her separate from the other humans. With the taste of bile in her mouth, she dropped her hand and turned slightly away.

"My father left before I could learn."

Her words were quiet but heavy with bitterness. She barely even knew his face... Ky interupted that train of thought before she could descend too far into her melancholy. She straightened slightly as he approached, herexpression smoothing once more though far more blank than meditative.

"Not at all. You bring news of what is to be done with us...?"

It was more of an afterthought that she made the statement a question but then Eva did not care much for any sort of pretense at that moment. It was more of a reflex, that deference.
...that will only bring you grief.

A beautiful roaring scream, of joy and sorrow so extreme...

Subtly observant, Talise listened to Eva's unhappy memory, hearing more from her body language than her words. Having been raised in the gypsy band, Talise had little loyalty to the two main factions of elves personally, but she did have a very strong sense of her own people. She could not imagine what it must be like for Eva, who has been away from an entire half of her heritage her whole life.

Sapphire eyes squint at Ky as interrupts them. How rude indeed. He didn't seem that put out by it. "Yes, what is the word?" She asks him, slightly curious but still a little peeved that he had put a halt to her probing.

He clears his throat and addresses the both of them, "As a matter of fact I do. Tomorrow I will be heading to the elven territories on a diplomatic mission to gather allies for our effort against The Beast. I find myself at an impasse though as I have little experience in the territories, or with the elves. Therefore I would be grateful if the two of you could accompany my small band." He looks to Eva, "I could used someone well versed in archery."

He then turns his attention to Tali, "And I am certain you may be able to assist me in the matter of navigation."

Talise raises an eyebrow. "You want to go to the elves?" She repeats in surprise. Could they possibly know more than they let on?

"Which city?"

He shrugs faintly and shakes his head, "Unfortunately I have not been made privy to that information just yet. Our official destination will be made known tomorrow when I confer with our team leader. On the other hand if you have a suggestion as to where our first destination should be, I would be more than happy to hear what it is you have to say."
