Captain Jeff Seasonal the whole red-or-pink eye color thing is basically a myth. If the eye appears reddish, it's because the light is shining on it in a way that it is reflected off the retina - just like what causes red-eye in photographs. It's not a persisting thing, it's just the direction of the light. They do have light-colored eyes typically, which are very sensitive to light and often have vision problems, but they don't have red eyes. Hey Cap'n, I noticed this because my character is also albino (actually I wrote the profile before I read any of the other ones, and later found out there are at least two other albino characters, lol. So much for a rare condition, eh? But I kind of reconciled it with myself by imagining it somehow happens more often in magical people... but anyways), and I wrote him as having red eyes. I did a little bit of research before I wrote the profile (though not near as much as you've probably done), and this bit of info is what i was going off: Quote: The eyes of an animal with albinism occasionally appear red due to the underlying retinal blood vessels showing through where there is not enough pigment to cover them. In humans this is rarely the case, as a human eye is quite large and thus produces enough pigment to lend opacity to the eye, often colouring the iris pale blue. However, there are cases in which the eyes of an albinistic person appear red or purple, depending on the amount of pigment present. I like the idea of red eyes, so I used that. Is this incorrect, do you think? Or is it just like really rare?

Well, I've found a few websites that say it's possible, but the really reliable information I have says that it only occurs in certain types of light. From what I can tell, their eyes can be a reddish or violet color, but it's very rare and it's not a "true red". I don't know exactly how it would look, but I think it would look like a different color with a red tinge. I think it comes from whatever color their eyes are with the slight pigment they have mixing with the reflection from the retina (i.e. the violet comes from blue, and others might be green or brown).
It's hard to tell because albinism is such a rare condition, and it therefor is a breeding ground for myths.
The idea of red eyes is cool, though, and I imagine that as long as your character's eyes aren't a true red, or if they're a darker violet, then it would be accurate. 3nodding
Looking for accurate information on a lot of medical conditions is really difficult. gonk

Ascella was the first 'Albino' character, though because I didn't want the complications of eye color conflicting with the actual case, I just had her inherit gray eyes. Makes things far easier.
Anyways, Albinism is rather rare, though, Hogwarts is a rare school, so they kind of go hand in hand, and may even be more common in the wizarding world. Though, that is just my personal inference.

Also, Albino RATS have almost true red eyes, and like Capn' said, it's not a true red. Though, the white blond hair and the very fair skin is part of being albino.

Well, for accurate websites, those ending in .org .gov and .edu are the most reliable. That is what I was told by a high school teacher in Grade 12 anyways.

Yeah, I was told that too. I prefer to use info from the website for the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation on that subject.
I've learned to always cross-reference, no matter what. 3nodding
