"Crest?" Skye repeated in surprise. But then a slow smile spread over her face, and she nodded. "Yes ... crest ... shells for fish!"
She giggled and began to spread the shells out in the sand in front of herself and Syrus. "A fish castle," she murmured softly, looking over the shells. "Maybe we should use the biggest shell to make ... how is it called ..."
She thought for a moment, and then signed, 'drawbridge'.

"That's a good idea," he said, looking over the shells and plucking up the largest one to set aside to make sure that they didn't use it for something else, then he looked at what they had and then to the castle.
"What else do you think we need?" he asked after a few moments of pondering.

Skye nodded at Syrus's choice of drawbridge shell, but when he spoke again she was also looking at the castle, trying to figure out what else was missing. She felt the soft vibrations of his speech coming from his direction, however, and she looked up at him and blinked.
"Sorry," she blushed faintly. "Can you say again? I did not see ..."

"Huh?" Syrus questioned in automatic response, then smiled.
"I was just wondering if you had any other ideas of what our castle needs," he said, then simply kept looking at her, just to make sure she knew he was indeed listening to her ideas.

"Ah," Skye smiled, blushing softly. Then she turned her eyes back to the castle.
"Flags," she announced solemnly. "It must have flags to show who the castle belongs to ... like ... my great-grandmother has blue phoenix flags ... and in the other land they have gold griffin flags ... and in another land they have ..."
She trailed off, then blushed again. "I do not know what they have in that land," she admitted sheepishly.

Syrus smiled warmly. "Well then, you should ask someone in your family next time you visit then," he said with a nod, looking around, then looking back.
"What do we have to use for flags?" he asked.

Skye nodded. "Mommy will know," she murmured, more to herself than Syrus.
At his question, she looked around.
"I do not know," she admitted. "Maybe ... we can tear off a bit of the blanket we used to eat on ... maybe I can ask my brother to make us some flags sometime, then we can have a castle just for us!"
She giggled at the thought. A castle just for them! That would be a dream come true. She blushed at the thought.

Syrus was about to comment on the fact that he really didn't want to tear the blanket for something so trivial such as a sand castle flag, but Skye's other comment caught his attention more.
"Just for us?" he asked with a smile, scooting next to her and wrapping an arm around her waist. He was quiet for a while, thinking.
"What do you think our flag would look like?" he asked finally.

Skye giggled as Syrus slipped his arm around her waist, then leaned against him, putting both of her arms around his waist and laying her head on his shoulder in just such a position so that she could still see when he spoke.
"Just for us," she repeated with a warm smile and a faint blush.
As she thought about an answer for his second question, she reached up and brushed some of his hair away from his face.
"What about ... angel wings ... like mine," she murmured, "and glasses, like yours? Then everybody can know that it is for you and for me ... and it will be special, just for us, and nobody else will be able to have the same thing."
She giggled and put two fingers on his jaw, tilting his head gently to face her. "What do you think?"

Syrus gave a pleasant hum before kissing her gently on her lips.
"Sounds perfect to me," he said after pulling away, a warm smile on his face.

Skye's heart began to race as Syrus kissed her, and she kissed him back briefly before he pulled away from her again. She could feel that she was blushing, and she giggled softly and lay her head on his shoulder once more.
"Perfect," she repeated softly, her eyes sparkling brightly as she looked up at him. "Like you." Little did she know that they were no longer alone. Serenity, the eldest of all the siblings who still lived at home, had been sent out to find Skye and bring her home again. She had the unfortunate timing of having found Skye and Syrus just at the precise moment of their kiss, and though she blushed faintly and looked away to give them some privacy, the question crossed her mind: How long has this been going on?
"Skye!" she called out - though just why, she wasn't certain. Her sister was deaf, and she knew she was too far away for Skye to feel the vibrations of her call.

"Gah!" Syrus yelped, frightened by someone calling out Skye's name that wasn't anyone he knew. He winced as he yelped, placing his free hand over his head as a quick 'oh crap' reaction, but quickly regained enough composure to look out to see who was out there.
"Uhhhhm..." he drew out, looking at the teen before looking at Skye. "There is someone here to see you it seems..."

Skye's brow furrowed slightly in confusion at Syrus's words, but when she followed his gaze, looking over his shoulder, her eyes lit up again - though there was also disappointment.
"Serenity!" she called back, waving cheerfully. She turned to Syrus and took his hands in her own, standing and tugging him to his feet as well. "That is my sister, Serenity," she beamed. "We came out of our vases at the same time."
Her eyes grew shadowed, and she lowered her gaze slightly. "I guess that means that it is time for me to go home ..." Serenity's throat closed up as it always did when she met someone new, but as she approached Skye and the boy she rubbed her arm nervously and cleared her throat so that she could speak.
"Skye," she said softly, reaching out one hand and placing it on her sister's arm to get her attention, "Mama's looking for you ... you said you would be back home by now."

Syrus wasn't sure exactly how to feel as he was tugged to his feet, but still, this was his girlfriend's sister. Had to try and make nice with the perhaps future inlaws after all.
"Hey..." he said giving a meek wave. "I guess this is sorta my fault. I really need to learn to keep a watch on me..." he said...then realized he was currently shirtless. A wave of embarrassment washed over his face as he held up his index finger, mumbled something about holding on a moment, and darted for his shirt.

For a moment, Skye just blinked after Syrus, but then she giggled and turned back to her sister.
"He is getting his shirt," she explained with a smile. "We were going to go swimming ... but we made a sandcastle instead and we forgot about swimming." Serenity nodded and raised one eyebrow, watching Syrus from the distance.
'You told Mama your sleepover was with him and his sister,' she signed so that they couldn't be overheard. 'Not just him.'Skye nodded and signed back, 'Suzura was here with us but she was not allowed to stay the night because she was too small ... and she was back today but she got angry and left.'
Her brow furrowed slightly. 'I hope she is all right. But her mama came to get her, so she is fine.'
